Quarterback Johnny Manziel hires Drew Rosenhaus as agent CLEVELAND (AP) ? Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent. Rosenhaus confirmed in a text message to The Associated Press that he is now representing Manziel, who was waived by Cleveland following two trouble-filled seasons. Manziel faces legal consequences from a domestic incident in Texas. The NFL is also investigating the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, who played for Texas A&M. Rosenhaus may have a tough time finding a new team for Manziel until the QB gets his other issues resolved. Manziel's former agent, Erik Burkhardt, cut ties with the 23-year-old following last season. Burkhardt issued a statement saying he and Manziel's family "have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order." Manziel was a huge disappointment for the Browns, who selected him in the first round in 2014.
He's been in the NFL for four years and has a total of 14 wins. That doesn't even come close to averaging 7 wins a year. (Its really only 3.5 wins per year.) Common core ???? Given that, the Browns averaged 4.0 wins per year over that same time frame. Not even the Browns would step up to sign this guy to lose more games than they all ready do.
He has started 35 games, which is 3 games more than two seasons. So as I stated above he has averaged 7 wins a season in games he has started. He basically didn't play for two seasons.
And there was a reason he "basically didn't play for two seasons". Again . . . he has 14 wins in four years.
He should be. A backup job in the NFL will pay the entire cost of law school. That's where RGIII will be soon enough if he does not accept the fact that he must prove himself. Sometimes it can pay off big time to accept a humbling role. He probably is looking for the team that promises him a chance to compete for the starter's job. That is what Taylor did last year with the Bills. If he has one more season like last then he's in for Osweiler money.
Not sure - I think like ANY competitor (and one who has had success in the past), he'd probably want a starting gig. That's why he's talking to Cleveland - other than Denver and possibly the Jets (depending if the re-sign Fitz), who else is in the market for a starting QB?
I agree. I think thats why he's in Cleveland. He wants to start. When push comes to shove, its still a good gig to be a backup somewhere, but naturally, every QB wants to play. He gets a job somewhere, but he's going to apply where he has the best chance to start. If that fails... it's Plan B.
Jets, as you noted Browns, as you noted Broncos, as you noted It was reported the Dolphins were shopping Tannehill, who has regressed Cowboys, Will Romo even be ready for the season opener? How much does he have left? Cardinals, Palmer is 36 and is due for another injury riddled season, as he hasn't lasted 16 games 2 years in a row since 2009/2010 seasons Rams, unless you really think Nick Foles has instilled confidence in that offense. 49ers, if they can trade Kaepernick, RGIII might be a welcome replacement at a lower price tag Backups: Steelers Seahawks Two great opportunities to make a Super Bowl run as a backup..
Hadn't heard about Miami looking to deal Tannehill, and a "trade" "Tannehill" search doesn't bring up much of anything. Do you have a link...? Dallas and Arizona would be back-up gigs for RGIII, although admittedly Romo and Palmer are more liable to miss time than other QBs. Rams and 49ers (pending dealing Kaepernick) are other good potential starting spots.
I'll be honest Axe, it is from memory right after the season ended, I really don't remember where I heard it...And I haven't smoked funny tobacco in many years, so I'm sure it came from somewhere. And yes, technically, I should have put Dallas and Arizona as backups, but injuries are what drove me to a potential starting spot.
Richard Sherman blasts Roger Goodell's latest rules proposal Richard Sherman is never one to mince words. So when the star Seattle Seahawks cornerback was asked about Roger Goodell's ejection proposal, Sherman didn't hold back. "I think it's foolish," Sherman told ESPN. "But it sounds like something somebody who's never played the game would say, something that they would suggest, because he doesn't understand. He's just a face. He's just a suit. He's never stepped foot on the field and understood how you can get a personal foul." Goodell recommended in February that players who commit two personal fouls in one game should get an automatic ejection. But Sherman wasn't done giving the NFL commissioner a piece of his mind. Sherman also weighed in on the ever-confusing catch rule. "Because you've got a bunch of suits doing it," Sherman said. "Like I said before, you don't have a bunch of guys ... let Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin talk about it for about 20, 30 minutes. Maybe Cris Carter. Randy Moss, let those guys have a roundtable discussion about what a catch should be and come up with a rule." (Fox Sports)
Lions sign former Jets receiver, punt returner Jeremy Kerley ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) ? The Detroit Lions have signed wide receiver and punt returner Jeremy Kerley. Detroit made the move Monday, adding depth to a position depleted by Calvin Johnson's retirement and perhaps ending Golden Tate's role as a punt returner. The Lions signed former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones to a five-year contract earlier this month. Kerley had 182 receptions for 2,225 yards and nine touchdowns with the New York Jets over five seasons, leading them in punt returns each year. He had career highs with 56 catches and 827 yards receiving in 2012. Tate led the Lions in punt returns last season. They will likely want Tate to focus on his job as the team's No. 1 receiver this year.
Patriots owner Kraft seeks 'Deflategate' draft picks back BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) ? New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has asked the NFL to reinstate the draft picks the team lost in the deflated footballs investigation stemming from the 2014 AFC title game. Kraft said Monday at the owners' meetings that he sent a letter to Commissioner Roger Goodell more than a month ago seeking a return of the two picks ? a first-rounder this year and a fourth-rounder in 2017. He did not say if Goodell responded. But Kraft didn't sound optimistic that the picks would be returned, or that quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension would be rescinded should an appeals court rule in favor of the league in the saga dubbed "Deflategate." Brady had the suspension overturned in an earlier court case before the NFL appealed. In his letter, Kraft cited new evidence uncovered since the NFL investigation ended.
I wonder if anyone in this entire country has ever uttered the words, "Hey Richard, what do you think?" Earth to Sherman, your ability to play Cover-3 and make money doesn't make your opinion relevant.
