Washington claimed him off waivers and reportedly was the only team to put in a waiver claim for the former first-round pick out of Alabama. The decision drew widespread criticism, especially when Washington released a statement claiming Foster would have to prove himself and be cleared through the legal process before he appeared on the football field for the Redskins. The Redskins also said they checked with Foster's old teammates from Alabama who vouched for him. Redskins claim Reuben Foster two days after 49ers release him following arrest Turns out the Redskins might not have done their full due diligence. According to a report from A.J. Perez of USA Today, there was only one team that called Tampa police about Foster's arrest. That team? The Philadelphia Eagles. What's interesting there is the Eagles have a higher waiver claim than the Redskins based on their record. In other words, whatever the Eagles found out from the Tampa police might have led them to decide a waiver claim wasn't the prudent move. The Redskins put in a claim, apparently, without checking with police and instead relying on what they heard from former teammates of Foster. It feels a little shortsighted. -Will Brinson
Todd Gurley is healthy after the bye-week break... Rams running back Todd Gurley didn’t enjoy his usual workload during the Week 11 Monday night showdown with the Chiefs. As it turned out, he had suffered an ankle injury. As it turns out nine days later, his ankle is fine. Gurley appeared nowhere on the Rams’ initial injury report since the epic 54-51 victory. Which means he’ll be good to go on Sunday at Detroit. A pair of veteran offensive linemen (Andrew Whitworth and John Sullivan) got Wednesday off for non-injury reasons. Defensive lineman Ethan Westbrook missed practice due to an illness. Everyone else on the roster is healthy and good to go as the 10-1 Rams take on the 4-7 Lions. (PFT)
Well Cowboys shut down the Saints. Cowboys inching closer to that NFC East title. Actually that was a solid stride forward. The Cowboys likely need to lose at least 2 to be knocked out and one of them has to be next week (Eagles aren't beating the Rams).
The Dallas Cowboys (7-5) snapped the New Orleans Saints' (10-2) 10-game winning streak with a low-scoring shocker, 13-10...
Dallas has a defense that to me is surprisingly great and if they get any consistency on offense, they will do some damage.
Looks like I was guilty of burying them prematurely when they hit 3-5. Offense is still a work in progress, but that defense (which will still be adding Sean Lee and David Irving in the coming weeks) was FILTHY.
I believe the Cowboys are 3rd in the NFL in defense and have given up only 28 points in one game this season as their worst effort. Not to shabby.
Saints-Cowboys produced top overnight rating in Thursday Night Football history... The Cowboys shut down the Saints’ high-powered offense on Thursday night and a lot of people tuned in to watch it happen. John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reports that the game got an overnight rating of 14.6, which is the highest overnight rating in the history of Thursday Night Football. Having the Cowboys in a prime time game against a Saints team riding a 10-game winning streak is the sort of thing that you’d expect to spur a good number, but good television ratings aren’t anything new this season. Week 12 saw big gains from last year and the numbers have consistently been up from where they were at similar points in the schedule last year. That’s a welcome change for the league after how much attention was paid to last year’s ratings drop and it’s one that isn’t showing any signs of stopping with the backstretch of the season getting underway. Knew their D was going to be real good ... last night, though, makes me think this could be the caliber of D to carry the team not only into the playoffs, but to win a round (or two).
Well if they did investigate this and saw and ignored the video and just kept it under wraps since it wasn't released then they fucked up two times all over again. First of the whole cover-up thing. And second is the whole fact that they knew about this and ruled that hunt would not be suspended, at that point just like Rice, Hunt could say he shouldn't be punished by law just because the evidence went public. It could a huge mess all over again that the NFL totally deserves if that is the case.
The Chiefs and NFL have apparently never seen this video before and KC have released Kareem hunt. Now Washington can make a claim.
I dont think he has been released yet but he is on the commissioners exemption list n/m looks like cbs had not updated its page
The Chiefs announced they have cut running back Kareem Hunt. The team released a statement shortly after the NFL announced it has placed Hunt on the Commissioner Exempt list. “Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.” He finishes his 27-game career in Kansas City with 453 carries for 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also caught 79 passes for 833 yards and 10 touchdowns. The question now becomes: Will Hunt ever play in the NFL again? Running back Ray Rice never got another chance when video surfaced of him striking his now wife in an Atlantic City casino elevator. Rice was 27 when his career ended. Hunt is 23. Washington claimed linebacker Reuben Foster earlier this week after the 49ers waived him. With a misdemeanor domestic violence pending, Foster is on the Commissioner Exempt list.
The big question is how had the NFL and or the Chiefs not seen the video until today? The NFL was already investigating and they didnt get the video? Maybe they asked for it and were told they had to pay and they balked at some point they are going to have to start paying for these videos before TMZ gets them so they can be ahead of the game rather than behind.
Kudos to KC. Maybe he gets kicked out for a year anyway but I'm glad they cut him. Teams shouldn't tolerate this.
You would think the players would have learned from the Ray Rice incident and not lay hands on any female anywhere. The NFL needs to stop trying to cover up these incidents because in the age of "Big Brother", it becomes almost impossible to do anything without being watched. If any team tries to sign Hunt this season, you can rest assured the protests will be happening. He will be lucky to get another shot :/
