lol, it is a gamble, but they might be just loading up for next season without much concern for the distant future. *DONT_KNOW*
Griffin is a great guy to have 2-3 years. Not the same player but still better than many. He just wasn't worth his old contract.

Seahawks sign DT Sealver Siliga, OL Bradley Sowell RENTON, Wash. (AP) ? The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive tackle Sealver Siliga and tackle Bradley Sowell to one-year contracts on Monday. The two players are the first outside signings of the offseason for Seattle. They had re-signed defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin, cornerback Jeremy Lane, wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and punter Jon Ryan since free agency began last week. Siliga briefly spent time with Seattle in 2013 after being acquired in a trade from the Denver Broncos. He never played for Seattle before being released and signing with the New England Patriots, where he spent the last three seasons. Siliga became a free agent when he was non-tendered as a restricted free agent by the Patriots. Sowell spent the last four years with the Arizona Cardinals. He started 10 games at left tackle in 2013 but has not started a game in either of the last two seasons.
Eagles re-sign Nolan Carroll to a 1-year $2.36M deal. Got him back cheap by letting him test the market.
Chandler Jones to Arizona for Jonathan Cooper and a second round pick. Couldnt afford him and Hightower, Butler, and Collins next off season. Had to happen.
If Cooper can come close to living up to his potential, the Pats will have addressed an area of need.
Steelers sign offensive tackle Ryan Harris to 2-year deal PITTSBURGH (AP) ? The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran left tackle Ryan Harris to a two-year contract Tuesday, likely ending any chance the Steelers had of bringing back free agent Kelvin Beachum. The 31-year-old Harris started all 16 games at last season for the Denver Broncos, protecting for Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler as the Broncos won the franchise's third Super Bowl. Harris has started 70 of 110 career games while splitting his time with Denver, Houston and Kansas City. Pittsburgh entered free agency looking for depth along the line. The Steelers re-signed guard Ramon Foster last week before free agency began, but didn't reach an agreement with Beachum, a former seventh-round pick who eventually became a starter. Beachum's 2015 season was cut short by a knee injury in October.
Interesting, I didn't think they would bother because Shanny/Kubiak run scheme doesn't require a quality running back.
Patriots trade DE/OLB Jones to Arizona for Cooper, pick PHOENIX (AP) ? The Arizona Cardinals have filled what they considered their biggest offseason need by acquiring Pro Bowl defensive end/outside linebacker Chandler Jones from the New England Patriots. The Cardinals sent guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick in this year's draft to the Patriots in a deal that was pending the two players passing physicals. The 26-year-old Jones ranked fifth in the NFL last season with a career-best 12 1/2 sacks. Cooper was Arizona's first-round pick, the seventh selection overall, in the 2013 draft. He missed his rookie season with a broken leg and never reached the level of play the Cardinals had envisioned for him. A first-round draft pick out of Syracuse ? the 21st selection overall ? is one of three players who since 2012 have at least 200 tackles, 36 sacks and 10 forced fumbles. The other two are J.J. Watt and Ryan Kerrigan. The move saves about $5.4 million in cap space for New England and could bolster an offensive line that was battered throughout last season. Two members of its rotation were on injured reserve before Week 6 in 2015, and only once during the regular season did the Patriots start the same offensive line in consecutive games.
