Gotta love since they wanted to differentiate between teams in the video game the Raiders are moved back to Oakland (were in LA at time) and the Jets are called New Jersey.
I think back then they didn't have the right to use player names or anything NFL related. And after posting that link I played a full game. Sega sports were awesome at that point in time and NHL 92 might be the best sports game made.
Sega hockey was awesome. I still remember how if you aim 5-hole for a shot with your goalie you will score most of the time. They won't save it lol. And ya they didn't have NFL right back them. They just used city names and colours but to differentiate between teams in the same city they moved a few (or in New Jersey's case got i geographically correct.)
I said Vikings should have gone for a short play on that 3rd down play at the end. Get the yards for an easier FG. They aren't giving the big play & the time to find a guy led to a strip sack to end the game.
That was a heartbreaker right there. Teddy hangs on to the ball too long at times, but he really isnt protected very well.
i think 93 or 94 was, but hell, they were all awesome! in college, my roommates and i had our fav teams in a league where you would play each other and then the rest of the league as a computer. we each made ourselves for our team. NHL93 had the real awards at the end of the year and my roommate was running away with the scoring title and Hart trophies. With a week left in our season, the game made all his stats for his personal guy 0's and he went nuts and he lost both the Art Ross and Hart trophies as he had 0 pts. he never played again. hahahahahaha

Thinking of the Sega games and the rights to use the team names, the original Bill Walsh College Football didn't have the rights. They could use the names of states but not specific schools. So you had Atlanta (for Georgia Tech - couldn't use Georgia as that would imply it was the Bulldogs), College Station, etc. They worked it out with the NCAA for the '95 version.
Dalton won't have surgery; return for playoffs hopeful The Cincinnati Bengals got a modicum of good news Monday. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis told reporters that quarterback Andy Dalton won't need surgery on his fractured right thumb. Dalton will not play in Week 15 against the San Francisco 49ers, per Lewis, and the team will take it week by week to determine his availability. There is hope Dalton can return for the playoffs, per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, but will depend on how quickly he heals. Dalton believes a Week 17 return is possible, but bones are tricky to guesstimate how they will mend. Dalton was knocked out in the first quarter of Sunday's 33-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers after suffering the injury attempting to make a tackle. With Dalton's timetable up in the air, second-year pro AJ McCarron will make his first career start. The 25-year-old fifth-round draft pick put up 280 yards with two touchdowns and two costly picks in relief of Dalton on Sunday. (NFL.com)
