Isn’t that what an egotistical maniac like Owens looking for? The HOF is the ultimate ego builder for him. Maybe he thinks Trump will be there.

Report: Julian Edelman facing four-game PED suspension

The Patriots had Tom Brady back on the field today, but they could be without one of his favorite targets for the first month of the season.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Patriots wide receiver is facing a four-game suspension, for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Edelman is appealing the suspension, so there’s no official comment from the league yet.

He missed all of last season with a torn ACL, and now the Patriots will have to rely on a new crop of targets if the suspension stands. They also let Danny Amendola leave in free agency, though they have brought in Jordan Matthews and Cordarrelle Patterson this offseason. (PFT)

Owens released a statement on Thursday announcing that he will not be in Canton, Ohio for the festivities surrounding the induction or the enshrinement ceremony itself, which is scheduled for August 4.

“While I am incredibly appreciative of this opportunity, I have made the decision to publicly decline my invitation to attend the induction ceremony in Canton,” Owens said in the statement. “I have already shared this information with the Hall. After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere. At a later date, I will announce where and when I will celebrate my induction.”

“I would also like to thank the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals for the time I was granted with each organization. I am thankful for the relationships forged and the lessons learned while part of each team. I wish to congratulate all past, current and future inductees. It is quite an honor to be part of such elite company. This honor is something that I will cherish forever.”

While I realize that answering this question would be pure speculation . . .

Does anyone think, had the people who voted him into the HOF knew ahead of time that he would decline his invitation to the induction ceremony, would have still voted him in?

That's interesting. I don't think they would have. Probably take it as a snub or mockery and let another generation decide the issue when TO is loooong gone.

Soooooo.....he wants to have his own private induction celebration? He can't share the spotlight with the other inductees?

I think this whole thing is because the HOF voters bypassed him twice for induction and finally settled on year 3 to vote him in. This is TO's polite way to say FU to them ! :p:razmataz:

Owens being Owens maybe they should give him his own wing you could get one of those supersized porta potties and put it right outside the backdoor emergency exit.

It could be an interactive exhibit where you do crunches in a driveway while Drew Rosenhaus tells you how awesome you are...

as an Eagles fan, that whole TO-McNabb thing was really on McNabb being a big pussy and Andy Reid defending him. A lot of what TO said at that time was right. Our local Philly news was great as to see what TO would do next. It was an ongoing soap opera.

Duke Johnson, Browns agree to 3-year, $15.6M deal

The Browns might have bolstered their backfield with the additions of veteran Carlos Hyde and rookie Nick Chubb, but that doesn't mean Duke Johnson is being phased out of the offense.

Johnson agreed to a three-year, $15.6 million contract extension ($7.7 million guaranteed) with the Browns on Thursday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via sources close to the situation. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus. The team later confirmed the extension.

Johnson was the most reliable performer in coach Hue Jackson's attack last season, totaling 1,041 yards from scrimmage on 156 touches. Among the best pass-catching specialists in football, he finished third among all running backs in receiving yards (693) and fourth in receptions (74).

Although Hyde and Chubb project to handle early down rushing chores, Johnson will ride sidecar to quarterback Tyrod Taylor in obvious passing situations. Considering new play-caller Todd Haley's success with Le'Veon Bell out of the backfield in Pittsburgh, Johnson's targets might actually increase in 2018.

Boasting a pair of new quarterbacks, a diverse backfield and a deeper wide receiver corps, the Browns' offense should be among the NFL's most improved. (NFL.com)

Is TO the first HoFer to skip the ceremony? I mean, voluntarily, not due to a medical/health-based issue.

I think TO just wants the attention right now. I wouldn't be surprised if next week someone talks to him and he changes his mind.
