Dolphins cut Greg Jennings, restructure Suh, Misi deals The Miami Dolphins will have more room under salary cap when free agency opens on Wednesday. The team announced Saturday that it has released wide receiver Greg Jennings in addition to restructuring the contracts of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and linebacker Koa Misi By releasing Jennings, the salary-cap strapped Dolphins avoid his $5.5 million cap hit for 2016. As Around The NFL's Conor Orr pointed out this week, the Dolphins were among the teams with little cap space. The restructured contracts will restore nearly $20 million for the Dolphins under the cap. Jennings struggled during his one season in South Beach, tallying 19 receptions for 208 yards in 16 games. It remains to be seen how much interest on the free-agent market the 32 year old will garner. The news comes on top of NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reporting earlier Saturday that free-agent defensive end Mario Williams was meeting with the team. Williams was cut by the Bills this week. Rams' Tre Mason subdued by stun gun during arrest HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) ? Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason was subdued with a stun gun twice when he refused to cooperate with officers who were arresting him in South Florida for reckless driving and marijuana possession, police in Hollywood, Florida, said Sunday. Mason refused orders to get out of his Porsche sports car Saturday afternoon after he was pulled over for going more than twice the speed limit in a 35-mile-per-hour zone along a beachside road, according to a police report released by the Hollywood Police Department. Mason refused to give the patrol officer his name or provide identification, and the officer smelled marijuana in the car. "I warned the defendant if he did not identify himself he would be subject to arrest and he smirked as he was making eye contact," Officer Lester Cochenour wrote in his report. The officer called for backup and warned Mason he would be arrested if he didn't provide identification, the report said. Cochenour told Mason he was under arrest. When the officer attempted to removed Mason from the car by taking his left arm, Mason braced himself against the car's floor, seat and steering wheel. Another officer joined the effort to get Mason out of the car, but he still resisted, according to the police report. "The defendant was warned several times in a composed voice to stop resisting, exit the vehicle and if he did not comply with arrest, a Taser would be used," the officer wrote in the report. A third officer arrived, and when another effort failed to remove him, Mason was stunned on his torso with a Taser. He was stunned again outside the vehicle in his pelvis when he refused to put his hands behind his back as ordered, the report said. Mason was then taken to a hospital for medical clearance since he had been stunned. While he was there, bond was posted for him so he was released from police custody and never had to go to jail, said Jaime Hernandez, spokesman for the Hollywood Police Department. Hernandez did not immediately know how much Mason's bail was. Mason is charged with resisting arrest without violence, reckless driving, possessing less than 20 grams of cannabis and failure to register a vehicle. Mason recorded the police stop on his phone, according to the police report.
Eagles-Dolphins in discussion of Byron Maxwell trade: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/03/07/eagles-dolphins-talking-byron-maxwell-trade/
Wonder who the Jets will tamper with this year. Like an annual thing for them to get busted tampering and avoid repeat offender status.
Holy crap. I did not expect Kiko to be involved. Eagles suddenly need an OLB. I think Barwin is a DE in a 4-3.
He was only decent this year, missed last year and had a rookie season where he was robbed of DROY. I guess the Eagles don't want to give him a pay day next year off potential. Either that or it was a deal sweetener. Probably a bit of both as I feel the Eagles are likely getting pennies on the dollar.
I wonder if Maxwell has any chance to turn it around in a decent system. Or maybe he was always a product of Seattle.
Eagles also willing to deal Ryan Mathews (in addition to DeMarco Murray). http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/03/07/eagles-reportedly-open-to-trading-ryan-mathews-too/ Sheesh, Birds really cleaning house.
so if both go (murray and matthews) who will run the ball for them then? darren sproles? if they get rid of murray, matthews, alonso and and maxwell - how much money will have they under the cap to sign some free agents?
Damn good question. They probably look to another free agent RB (Lamar Miller, Chris Ivory, Matt Forte, etc.) Depends - I can't imagine that teams are just going to take on the mega-deals that Murray and Maxwell have without Philly eating some of their contract money.
If the Eagles are able to get out from under BOTH Maxwell's and Murray's contracts, that's a job well done by Howie.
So the Eagles are getting rid of all of Kelly's players, except Bradford. This almost feels crazier than last offseason.
