Titans re-sign tight end Craig Stevens to 1-year deal NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ? The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran tight end Craig Stevens. The Titans announced the deal Friday, hours after general manager Jon Robinson told season-ticket holders they had re-signed Stevens. A third-round draft pick in 2008 out of California, Stevens has played 109 games with 60 catches in his eight seasons. He played every game last season with 11 starts and caught 12 passes. He also was voted the Ed Block Courage Award for his comeback last season from a leg injury that limited him to five games in 2014.
Longtime Steelers tight end Heath Miller retires PITTSBURGH (AP) ? Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller retired on Friday after an 11-year career with the franchise that included a pair of Super Bowl titles. The 33-year-old Miller had one year left on his current contract. The 30th overall pick in the 2005 draft caught 60 passes for 535 yards and two touchdowns in 2015. His 592 career receptions, 6,569 yards receiving and 45 touchdowns are all franchise marks for a tight end. Miller missed just eight regular-season games during his career, with the fans at Heinz Field often chanting "Heeeath" every time he caught the ball. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger often called Miller the best teammate he's ever had. Miller's retirement leaves just three players from the 2005 team that won the Super Bowl: Roethlisberger, linebacker James Harrison and long snapper Greg Warren.
And here I thought he was going to have at least 1 more year. Possibly a couple more if they extended and restructured.
yeah miller was very solid. not the best te in the game but you could count on him to do his job week in and week out.
Philadelphia DA says he won't rush decision on McCoy charges PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Philadelphia's top prosecutor says he won't rush his decision on whether to charge Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy over a nightclub fight. District Attorney Seth Williams is feeling heat from the city's police union because two off-duty officers were injured in the Feb. 7 brawl. But Williams on Friday says his goal "is to get it right, not get it fast." Investigators say the 3 a.m. fight erupted over which group had purchased a $350 bottle of champagne at the after-hours club. One officer suffered a broken nose and broken ribs while a second had a possible skull fracture. Defense lawyer Dennis Cogan says McCoy was sober and did nothing wrong. The 27-year-old McCoy spent six years with the Philadelphia Eagles before playing for Buffalo last season.
Rams release stars Laurinaitis, Long LOS ANGELES (AP) ? The Los Angeles Rams released veterans James Laurinaitis and Chris Long, and also cut tight end Jared Cook on Friday. In what appears a salary-cap purge as the team relocates from St. Louis, the Rams departed with star linebacker Laurinaitis and defensive end Long. Laurinaitis has been one of the NFL's leading tacklers throughout his seven-year pro career. Long, the son of Hall of Famer Howie Long, has been their top pass rusher for most of his eight seasons. Cook joined the Rams as a free agent before the 2013 season and set franchise records for most receiving yards by a tight end both in a single season (671 in 2013) and in a single game (141 on Sept. 8, 2013 vs. Arizona).
I think your right. The longer it drags out, it seems to hint the prosecution know's they dont have a solid case.
Ravens TE Nick Boyle suspended 10 games for PEDs The second-year Ravens tight end has been suspended 10 games without pay for violating the NFL Policy and Program for performance-enhancing substances, the team announced. His latest mishap serves as the second PED-related punishment for Boyle after he was suspended for the final four games of last season. It's not a great look for a player who hauled in just 18 catches as a rookie. Still, Boyle brought value to the team as a fifth-round pick before his rookie campaign was short-circuited. A decent blocker, the former Delaware standout drew rave reviews from John Harbaugh as "one of the gems of the draft class," but the Ravens coach also hoped in December that Boyle would learn from his initial league-mandated punishment. "He was telling me how stupid it was, and I agreed," Harbaugh said at the time, per the team's official website. "It was pretty dumb. Hopefully, he'll grow and learn from that."
It could still very well lead to a suspension of some kind for McCoy even without an arrest. Granted he is a first time offended (at least I think he is) but it has been a very public offense.
Any video leaked yet? I haven't seen any. From what I have read, the prosecutor's office is getting pressure from the Police Department, however, the DA believes the off duty police officer's may have been at fault. Who knows what will happen at this point...but supposedly there is video and when it gets out, we will be able to understand the situation more...up until now, everything was hearsay and speculation.
Police could finish Johnny Manziel case by next week DALLAS (AP) ? Dallas police say they could conclude their domestic violence investigation of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel by late next week. Police spokesman Maj. Midge Boyle said Saturday that investigators have reviewed medical records provided by Colleen Crowley, Manziel's ex-girlfriend. Crowley told police Manziel hit her and dragged her into a car in late January. Manziel hasn't been charged, but a judge has issued Crowley a protection order against him. Police haven't interviewed Manziel, but spoke to other several witnesses. Boyle says police want to have their strongest case against Manziel before speaking to him. A Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M, Manziel has had several incidents of trouble in the NFL. The Browns have indicated they will release him next month.
