Not to be the stick in the mud...but if he is the OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, should it really matter who his QB was? He should make everyone around him better, no? Hell, a short 3 years ago Josh Gordon had 1646 yards in 14 games (ave out over 16 games, you could expect 1,881... a few more than Brown) because of suspension, and he did it with Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell and 3rd stringer Brian Hoyer throwing to him...Should he have been considered for OPY in 2013? Granted that was statistically Peyton Mannings career year and he got a well deserved honor. But, in 2015, do you honestly think the Panthers get to the Super Bowl without Cam Newton? He was that team's offense. IMHO, he didn't have impressive enough numbers to earn it, but that fact on top of the numbers is what won it, imho....and truth be told, I don't care much for Newton's antics on the field..MVP of the League, I could see that over OPY...but I also see why they gave it to him. (edit Also, production includes TDs, Brown only had 10 TDs, not even the top receiver in that category (in fact 8 others had more receiving TDs), while Newton scored 10 TDs rushing as a QB...
I didn't say Cam didn't deserve it I said I could make an argument for Brown. Brown cannot be blamed when the ball isn't being thrown his way. In one game Vick targeted him 9 times the other 6 times and the game Vick got hurt and Landry Jones came in Brown revived 8 targets. It wasn't so much that a different QB was in but that he wasn't getting the ball. Gordon put up great numbers with crap qbs because they fed him the ball.
I'm probably spending too much time on this subject, but... 4 games without Roethlisberger: Oct. 1 Ravens 5 catches 42 yards, 0 TD Oct. 12 Chargers 3 catches 45 yards, 0 TD Oct. 18 Cardinals 3 catches 24 yards, 0 TD Oct. 25 Chiefs 8 catches 124 yards, 1 TD So he had a pretty good game in there without Ben...3 below average games With Ben, he also had a few bad games: Nov. 1 Bengals 6 catches 47 yards, 1 TD Nov. 29 Seahawks 6 catches 51 yards, 0 TD Dec. 27 Ravens 7 catches 61 yards, 0 TD Throw in the second Bengals game 7 catches for 87 yards 0 TD, which is an average game... So, how do you explain his lack of production against the Ravens, one occasion with Ben, one without, both low production? Good defenses, held him in check, bad defenses, the Steelers exploited, even Landry Jones did a nice job against the Chiefs... Brown got 610 of his yards in 3 games against the Browns and Raiders...2 very bad defensive teams... In fact out of his entire 2015 seasons, I would argue the only game that was truly impressive was against the Denver Broncos...That was a feat
So we should punish Brown because he crushed bad teams? You can do the same to Cam you know In three games vs the Saints and Giants he had 986 yards and 12 tds all those two did was finish 31st and 32nd in pass defense. In fact during the regular season the only games he broke 300 in were vs those 2 teams. He did have 10 games over 200 yards. 7 of them (2 vs the saints) came against teams that finished the season ranked 16th or worse. He did have a nice game vs the Packers and another vs the Seahawks but that was before the Seahwaks D got its mojo back. So see trying to tear down Brown for feasting on weak opponents doesn't really work when the same can be said of the guy who won the award. Maybe instead of saying I'm wasting to much time on this you should say I'm a Browns fan and no was does some dirty Steelers player deserve the award at least then your argument would have some bite.
OK, I can agree with this statement... But seriously, I already stated, Cam's stats didn't agree with the award...Neither did Antonio Brown's though. Honestly as much as I can't stand the guy...Tom Brady should have been the OPY 3rd in yards passing, 1st TDs, 1st in INTs against for full time starters, 3rd in passer rating. I'm sorry that I don't agree that the guy who is tied for 10th(with 3 other players) in receiving TDs should be considered the OPY winner...It just doesn't make any sense to argue it any more.
You gotta admit that Cam is aided by a weak NFC South much like Brady gets every season in the AFC East. That's 5 wins this year alone and the stats add up - 1470 pass yards, 14 TDs, 193 rush yards and 4 rush TDs within the division alone. This doesn't include games against other bad defenses like the Colts and Giants. Schedule means a lot. I don't know that you could have quite the same success if you put in say Jameis Winston, Sam Bradford or Luke McCown so he is still impressive. But when you're in a bad division you have to account for the "help" you get from your rivals.
To be fair though you tend to sell AB short. You once argued Torrey Smith was better. p.s. Don't forget about the Denver game... 16 rec, 189yds, 2 TDs against a guy that hadn't surrendered a TD in two years.
That was about 5 years ago on the Torrey Smith thing beach, come on man, lol... I already credited him with the Broncos game...you just need to read a little more closely.. ;D
LeSean McCoy investigated over fight with off-duty cops PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is under investigation over the alleged assault of two off-duty police officers at a Philadelphia nightclub. The incident occurred early Sunday after an argument broke out between McCoy's party and the officers over a bottle of champagne. After one 40-year-old officer was knocked to the ground, he was punched, kicked and stomped multiple times on his body and head, police said Monday. When the second officer, also 40, intervened with security guards, he was also injured, police said. All were ejected from the club. One officer had a broken nose, broken ribs and a sprained thumb, police said, and the second was hospitalized with a possible skull fracture. "Certainly over a bottle of champagne, nothing warrants an assault like this," police Lt. John Stanford said. A person familiar with the investigation confirmed to The Associated Press that McCoy was one of the four men under investigation. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the case. McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Monday. McCoy played for the Bills last season after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played for six seasons. The Bills released a statement saying they were aware of the report and were gathering information. Police said they did not want to publicly identify the four suspects until arrest warrants are approved, though they said at least some had NFL connections. The two officers did not identify themselves as policemen to their alleged attackers, Stanford said. The fight over the bottle of champagne appeared to result from a misunderstanding. Stanford said a member of the football players' party thought a bottle belonged to his group but in fact receipts showed it did not. According to a police incident report obtained by The Philadelphia Inquirer and KYW-TV, the incident occurred at the Recess Lounge in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. Police said they recovered video surveillance from outside the club, showing both parties being ejected. They were also seeking any cellphone video that may have been shot inside the club by patrons.
If the story happened the way it was reported - McCoy's party started fighting over a bottle that wasn't theirs, and they stomped a person when he was down - then the punishment has to be harsh.
Exactly, I agree. It doesnt sound good and especially with a cop. Could be a big time problem for McCoy and company. Im guessing we will hear soon.
Being a cop (to me) doesn't mean as much in this case since they were off duty and didn't identify themselves as cops. But given the severity of the assault, it's not good for Shady.
I bet you the Eagles are glad Kelly blew up the team right now? This McCoy shit doesn't involve them now.
Saints release guard Evans, 3 others; add 1 player METAIRIE, La. (AP) ? The Saints have released four-time All-Pro right guard Jahri Evans, who has started for all 10 seasons since New Orleans drafted him out of Division II Bloomsburg in 2006. In moves posted on the NFL's transactions list Monday, New Orleans also has released linebackers David Hawthorne and Ramon Humber and receiver Seantavius Jones, while signing veteran free agent defensive back Tony Carter. The releases of Evans and Hawthorne in particular will save the Saints money by allowing the club to avoid paying upcoming roster bonuses and well as base salaries later in 2016. Evans was voted first-team All-Pro from the 2009 through 2012 seasons. Carter spent three games with Indianapolis this season. He also spent part of 2015 with New Orleans, but did not play.

Griffin had 25 interceptions and also became the fifth player in franchise history with 900 career tackles and the most by a safety. Griffin wrote on Twitter that he knew his time would come.
