Blake Bortles on arm: 'It feels good, I'll be all right' Blake Bortles got some rest for his weary arm over the weekend as the Jaguars curtailed his snaps after a heavy workload to open camp. The quarterback says his arm is fine despite the needed rest. "My arm is fine," Bortles said Tuesday, via ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "It feels good. I'll be all right." Bortles has taken heat from everyone from coaches, to media, to his teammates for inconsistent play. The quarterback said to turn his career around entering a pivotal season, the Jags ramped up the preparation. "I've taken more reps in this camp than probably the last three years all combined," he said. "That was something in talking with Coach [Doug] Marrone and Coach [Nathaniel] Hackett that I knew they had done that in the past. They had their reasons and philosophies on why they do it. I totally agree with it." Despite the added reps, Bortles is still having his bouts with struggles. He's had a five-interception practice. Yesterday came a complaint from receiver Allen Robinson for Bortles to "keep this s--- in bounds" after he aired a pass wide during joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. _______ _________________ Things sound a bit snippy at practice... Bortles needs to take command and lead. A QB is the field general always... sounds like he's losing it.
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott officially filed his notice of appeal to the six-game suspension he received last week for violating the league's personal conduct policy, the NFL Players Association announced Tuesday. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has appointed Harold Henderson to hear Elliott's suspension appeal, the NFL announced Wednesday. Henderson, who has served as an appeals officer since 2008, heard Greg Hardy's domestic violence appeal in 2015, when the former NFL defensive end's suspension was reduced from 10 to four games. Elliott's appeal hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 29, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported. The appeal filing comes four days after Goodell suspended Elliott after a year-long domestic violence investigation by the league determined there is "substantial" evidence that he assaulted a woman identifying herself as his former girlfriend.
UPDATE: Harold Henderson appointed to hear the appeal. Henderson was the one who heard Greg Hardy's appeal, reducing his suspension from 10 games to 4. And in the story linked below, something I hadn't heard before: that his ex has sex tapes of him, and was discussing with a friend the possibility of blackmailing Zeke for millions. http://www.profootballweekly.com/lists/2017/08/16/11faeb6387794be7bc4e05bbc94eba73/index.xml
if the NFL suspended him, why does he or anyone, else get a chance at a appeal ? it doesn't matter. it's all a kangaroo court anyways.
If someone believes he got a raw deal, why shouldn't he be allowed to either take the case to a higher court or seek arbitration...?
If he didn't appeal I think you could look at it like an admission to guilt. People should always be given a fair chance especially under these circumstances where he's being acussed, basically, by the NFL for something he claims he's innocent too. I believe this appeal is going to change the way the NFL does things and could get real ugly, real fast.
I'll say this up front: I have no idea whether Zeke actually hit the woman or not. If he did (or anyone does), for me 6 games isn't nearly enough. THAT said - there at least SEEMS to be a number of questionable things about Tiffany Thompson (potentially blackmailing Zeke, texting Zeke that she would make him sorry if he ever broke up with her, apparently harassing him with phone calls - 50+ - after being instructed not to contact him).
She could be guilty of all those things and yet still be a victim of abuse. Just because someone is a terrible person it doesnt not mean that bad things cannot be done to them.
I don't believe Ezekiel is completely innocent, but I don't believe he is as guilty as his ex would have you think. When I try to weigh in as him having done nothing then I remember the incident when he grabbed the woman's breast during a parade.
Which he did while under investigation. I mean hey the NFL has me under the microscope maybe I should keep my head down F it im just going to be me.
I agree. The dude has been in the league ONE year, and it's been anything from going into head shops, to beating women, to exposing titties, and even bar fights. He needs to regulate himself or the Nfl will do it for him.
Here is the blackmail text convo that was leaked between her and a friend. Thompson: What if I sold mine and Ezekiel's sex videos Friend: We'd all be millionaires Friend: We could black mail him w that Thompson: I want to bro Friend: Let's do it Thompson: Scared Friend: S--- Friend: Id be like look give me 10k or I'll just sell our sex videos for the same amount flat Friend: Me and my friends tryna go on vacation and get boob jobs . . . . Thompson: 10k Bitch I want 20k Thompson: Go big or go home Friend: That's fine too

bc he wasn't suspended in a court of law. you said "take it to a higher court." there is no court. he was suspended by the league office, not some courtroom in Dallas, Tx. to me it's silly that the league office did this and suspended him, but he can take it to someone else then? who outranks Roger Goodell?
I meant in general - if someone has a verdict ruled against them, then can take it to a higher court. In Elliott's case, he's entitled to appeal and have his case heard by an independent arbiter. Not sure why that WOULDN'T be within his rights...?
