IrishDawg, Will voiced his opinion first. There is nothing to apologize for. It should be addressed when it's brought up. Apologizing for the discussion is counter to progress. No worries.
irishdawg-this is NFL news and was posted on this thread. it's not a gay activist thread now. hell if Andrew Luck came out as gay, it would be on here as well, so don't apologize for just commenting back on someone else's post. this is an ALL-NFL thread and this is exactly where discussions should be taking place.
I was rather blunt and I'll admit to being somewhat harsh and old-fashioned in my opinion. I do not want to offened anyone for their lifestyle, but I will say that I dont agree with some of the lifestyle choices people make. As for the being born that way, I have my doubts and suspicions, but also in the same breath will admit to ignorance when it comes to medical/scientific fact... which in my opinion can be contorted to mean just about anything. My last input on this subject is this... I was raised with strong religious principals and beliefs which have taught me to love the person regardless, this is where I still am a work in progress. I can and chose to love all people, I just don't agree with some of the lifestyle's they have. What's not cool is when someone admits to something that may be controversial and takes an ass whipping for doing so... this is wrong. Anyhow, I appreciate everyones input and willingness to help and shed light on the subject. TY...
David Harris is joining the team he tried to topple for the past decade. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the New England Patriots are signing the former New York Jets linebacker to a two-year deal, per a source involved in the deal. ESPN first reported the signing. The Jets cut the 33-year-old veteran earlier this month. At a press conference after the move, coach Todd Bowles said Harris "bled green." It took just over a fortnight for Harris to switch his allegiances to the division rivals. In 10 years with the Jets, Harris compiled 1,087 tackles, 35 sacks, 31 passes defensed and six interceptions. While his play has fallen off with age, Harris is remains a tackling stalwart in the middle. He missed his first game in seven years last season. Harris joins a Patriots linebacking corps that could use depth up the gut. He's the latest veteran Bill Belichick has pillaged from division rivals, joining corner Stephon Gilmore, running back Mike Gillislee this year and Chris Hogan last offseason. Harris is the type of smart, hardworking, no-nonsense addition Belichick loves. (NFL.com)
I don't believe people should be harassed for their sexual orientation but I also don't believe we need to know people's preferences unless it has a direct bearing on you personally. I really get along with everyone and don't worry about sexual preferences and really don't want to know because it doesn't benefit your friendship or make your workplace better. I am not trying to have sex with anyone besides my wife, so knowing that information about someone else has no benefit.
Again, it isn't about parading your sexuality. This is a public figure, so everything in their lives is an open book, totally contrary to what all of our loves are. It makes life much easier to simply announce it, so that the whispers and finger pointing hopefully go away. It's pretty simple stuff really. They aren't stating they are gay so that they get propositioned for sex by you, me or anyone else. It has NOTHING to do with wanting to have sex with the average football fan...or player for that matter. It is simply a means to moving on with their lives. I really don't see what the big deal is. You have guys making statements about all sorts of things on a regular basis and everyone simply listening and moving on...not sure why a statement like this can't be handled the same way.

In this day and age of social media, I'm really kind'a surprised we haven't had any active outed players yet. Between interviews with the media ("What were you like growing up?" "Are you married?" "Are you single?" "Who are you dating?") and folks with camera phones snapping pics/vids of celebs EVERYWHERE), it's gotta be just a matter of time before someone gets outed. Makes sense to get ahead of the story.
not really...lol im shocked the cowboys are #1 in road attendance. im not surprised the Eagles are #2 there as they do travel on long bus and plane trips to venues.
Packers DT Letroy Guion arrested on DUI charge Green Bay's Letroy Guion is back in trouble with the law. According to the Honolulu Police Department, the defensive tackle was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant. This happened around 4:22 Wednesday morning in Waikiki, per police. He was released after posting a $500 bond. The team released this statement regarding his arrest: "The Packers are aware of the matter involving Letroy Guion. We will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter." This is not Guion's first time with off-the-field issues. In 2015, he was banned for the first three games of the season following his arrest for possession of marijuana and a firearm. He wound up paying a $5,000 fine as part of a plea agreement. Guion has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 regular season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL announced in March. Last offseason, the Packers inked Guion to a three-year, $11.25 million deal. __________________ ___________________________________ Its too bad these guy's are under paid and cant afford to hire drivers, limo's or a cab even... oh wait.
Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown expects Elliott to catch more passes this season Elliott easily led the league in carries (322) and rushing yards (1,631) as a rookie, but he only ranked 31st among running backs in targets (40), despite finishing third in yards per target (9.1) among the 50 backs that drew more than 25 looks. While he often stayed on the field for passing downs, the Cowboys simply didn't rely on their backfield much for pass-catching duties, with running backs accounting for only 79 of the team's 483 targets (16.4 percent). That share likely will rise closer to the league average of 18-20 percent, and with Lance Dunbar no longer on the roster, Elliott unquestionably is the Cowboys' best option for passing downs. While still unlikely to match the kind of receiving workloads David Johnson and Le'Veon Bell handle, Elliott should push to finish among the top 10 at his position in both carries and targets.
The Colts likely will use more of a committee approach in the backfield this season, giving Turbin a heavier workload than last season's 47 carries and 35 targets... Turbin only produced 3.5 yards per carry and 5.1 yards per target last season, but he found the end zone on eight of his 73 touches, including three of his his four carries from inside the 5-yard line and seven of his 14 from inside the 10. Fourth-round rookie Marlon Mack may be the flashier option to alleviate some of 34-year-old Frank Gore's workload, but Turbin's strong work in the red zone and as a pass blocker makes him the better bet to handle a significant snap count in Week 1. Turbin still doesn't offer much upside, as he failed to produce a 20-yard gain last season and has a long gain of just 26 yards on 328 career carries. He'd likely share playing time with Mack, and possibly Josh Ferguson, in the event of a Gore injury.
Breaking: Raiders make QB Derek Carr highest paid player in NFL history with 5-year/$125M extension...
Three years in the league. One winning record. Had yet to throw for 4k yards. Has yet to even play in a playoff game. Highest player ever (at least for now). That's crazy. Who's next up to be the highest paid player?
Whoever the next decent QB in need of a contract will be. Will there be a media frenzy and general outrage over this like with Flacco? My bet is "nope". QBs just make too much $$$ in relation to the other players on the field period.
The Flacco outrage was amazing. Literally right after the last thing he did was win the superbowl during a legendary playoff performance. And after checking, it looks like Stafford and Cousins are next
