The reason these idiots make the decision not to hire drivers (or use the ones provided by the league) is pretty simple...like most people that drive drunk, they operate under the presumption they're not going to get caught, but in their case it's also amplified by the specter of not wanting to have a third party witness to their drunken assclownery that might shake them down afterward.
Transactions roundup: The Chicago Bears waived quarterback Connor Shaw on Tuesday to make room for Victor Cruz. With Mitchell Trubisky and Mike Glennon requiring as many snaps as possible, the Bears didn't need a fourth quarterback behind veteran Mark Sanchez. Here's the other player news we are tracking on Tuesday: 1. Veteran quarterback Thad Lewis, who tore his ACL in August, has been medically cleared, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The nomadic quarterback signed with the San Francisco 49ers last year, but tore up his knee in the first preseason game. The 29-year-old gunslinger has started six games in his seven-year career. He's spent time with the Rams, Browns, Bills, Texans and Eagles before joining the 49ers last year. Per Rapoport, Lewis will have a market as a veteran addition to a quarterback room. 2. While he's got a starter's fame, Colin Kaepernick remains without a job. His best bet for a gig at this stage appears to be as a potential backup to Russell Wilson in Seattle. While Kaepernick met with the Seahawks last week, no deal is imminent, Rapoport reported. 3. The Lions officially announced the signing of former Vikings running back Matt Asiata. 4. The Steelers announced they signed safety Daimion Stafford and long snapper Kameron Canaday. 5. The Rams have added a third quarterback onto their roster, signing South Carolina product?Dylan Thompson. 6. The Vikings signed third-round pick Pat Elflein, the team announced. 7. The Jets announced the signing of wideout Chris Harper, and they waived tight end Braedon Bowman. (NFL.com)

______________ _________________________ Connor Shaw catches a break... Tuesday began with the Bears announcing that quarterback Connor Shaw was being waived to make room on the roster for wide receiver Victor Cruz. It will end with Shaw still on the team?s roster. The Bears announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have rescinded their earlier move involving the quarterback and waived wide receiver Jhajuan Seales. The reason for the shift was a need for a healthy quarterback for the rest of the offseason program. Mark Sanchez injured his knee during the team?s OTA practice on Tuesday and, per multiple reports, will be out for the rest of OTAs and June?s mandatory minicamp.
There are 11 cornerbacks listed on the 90-man Eagles roster and every single one of them comes with a "yeah, but ?" attached to him. There are four rookies, two first-year players, and two second-year men among the group, which collectively fits the description ?a work in progress.? The Eagles are keeping the big picture in mind here, and that?s one of the reasons they were so eager and excited to use a second-round draft pick (No. 43 overall) on Sidney Jones, who is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in March and who is very much a question mark to play this season. And then the Eagles came right back in the third round and selected West Virginia?s Rasul Douglas. After the draft ended, the Eagles added two more cornerbacks, UCLA?s Randall Goforth and Iowa State?s Jomal Wiltz. In the short term, well, that?s where the work-in-progress mindset comes into play. The Eagles have some veterans on hand ? Ron Brooks, returning from a torn quadriceps injury that ended his 2016 season, figures to play a lot, whether he?s competing for a starting role on the outside or as the team?s primary nickel cornerback; Patrick Robinson, now in his eighth season in an injury-plagued career that began as a first-round draft pick in 2010 in New Orleans; and Dwayne Gratz, in his fifth season with 43 games, 25 starts, and three career interceptions under his belt. Then there are the young veterans, headed by Jalen Mills, the second-year man who impressed last season, playing 65 percent of the snaps and keeping his composure, his confidence, and clearly improving as the year went along. C.J. Smith earned a spot on the practice squad as an undrafted rookie and then was promoted to the 53-man roster in October. He eventually played in 10 games, with just one defensive snap in the mix. Aaron Grymes looked so very good in the preseason before suffering a shoulder injury, and he returns hoping to take his next steps. Mitchell White, like Grymes, plied his trade in the Canadian Football League and played very well there for three seasons. Now he?s with the Eagles looking for success. Eleven cornerbacks. Just as many questions. We?ll see how it works out, both in the short term and in the future. (eagles.com)

Brock Osweiler a 'pleasant surprise' in Browns camp On Wednesday, Browns head coach Hue Jackson talked up the former Texans divorcee. The comments added to what has been an Osweiler boost of late, altering already scrambled perceptions of who, exactly, is winning the job this preseason. At the least, Osweiler no longer seems second fiddle to the second-round draft pick the Browns received for taking him. Hue Jackson said Brock Osweiler has been "pleasant surprise. Everybody has a reputation. He's not that. He has a good feel to him." I?ve heard Brock has been excellent, as well. Yes, it?s OTAs. But at least, they are getting more out of him than anticipated. (Ian Ropoport) Because we're deep into spring football minutiae, the Browns quarterback race could change a dozen more times before opening day. But for now, the competition seems as wide open as ever. (NFL.com) _________ __________________ I think the progression of Osweiler is a real good thing for the Browns... I will be watching them and hope they succeed and win some football games.
