reed, jason witten, gronk, graham, thomas, hell, even old man antonio gates is better than him! good for him, bad move by the eagles.
And many guys are older or going to get bigger deals once their contracts are up. If Ertz plays like he did at the end of the season it will be a bargain deal.
And if he plays like he did the first 44 games of his 48-game career, it'll be just one more bad contract the Eagles have inked recently.
World News and Report or whatever that magazine's name is did a study on what the best job is in the U.S.A. Can you guess what is #1 by far? #2 is being a dentist but #1 is by far and away the best job to have....The answer they came up with is, and this no surprise because I've always said it myself. #1 by far and away is being a backup QB! And they gave a few examples. Charlie Whitehurst made $17 MIL. winning 2 games in his career. Kevin Kolb made around $53 MIL. winning 9 games, they had somebody else in the middle of those 2 that I can't remember at the moment. I was waiting for Landry Jones (backup for the Steelers) name to come up but I guess he's a not there quite yet holding a clipboard every year. Give him time and he'll be up there near the top! I don't think he's won a game yet either! And people are out there starving in the world!!!! It's a freakin joke..... *NO*
P.S. Talking about guaranteed money I don't see how it's crazy that crazy to give $20M to Ertz. I don't see the Eagles getting rid of Ertz within the next 2 seasons. He's only guaranteed money until about halfway through the 3rd. If the player is almost certain to be on the team during the guaranteed time it really isn't much of a risk.
these guys had to play a ton of games in pee-wee, Pop Warner, High School and College though and get drafted. That's a lot of hard work. I always laugh at a shitter hitter in pro baseball. They were probably the best player in their area, High School and probably All-State and even All-American in college just to make it to the pros. That's a lot of work. I think Koy Detmer was the fg holder for the Eagles for years and even played a little QB. He's probably living large now.
Celek was due $5M non-guaranteed. It came as a bit of a shock as most thought the Eagles were going to move on from Celek but by reworking his contract they did lower his cap number.
Going back that far, they probably didn't make half of what they do today. But I do remember him playing 1 year for about a 6 game stretch (I think?) and thats what a good defense will do for ya. But your right. Another clipboard holder walking along the sidelines and making a living. As most all backups in the NFL do......It's ridiculous!
Not jealous Will. It's not my money. I just think it's stupid that people are starving while a guy is making millions walking along the sidelines! And most all will never be a starter. Kind of like throwing money away so 1 person can be a millionaire doing just about nothing.......
The SEC Clipboard schools thought he was too progressive for them. Half of their students graduate with a degree in Duh!! Oh wait that is their football players.
Manning tells Bill Belichick after the game that this could be his "last rodeo". Belichick refused to tell the media but a camera clearly picked it up. https://twitter.com/NFL/status/692039891278901251?ref_src=twsrc^tfw
I don't know whether I should say thanks or be more embarrassed that it took this long to get to 3 haha. Thanks
