Bills keeping Tyrod Taylor on restructured contract The Tyrod Taylor experiment in Buffalo will indeed live to see another season. The Bills have agreed to terms with Taylor on a restructured contract, the team announced Wednesday. "We are excited about the opportunity to keep Tyrod with the Bills," head coach Sean McDermott said in a statement. "I've gotten a chance to know Tyrod and study him over the past several weeks and he is both a great person and competitor. Doug and I are confident this was best move for the Bills at this time."

Lions set to make Ricky Wagner top-paid right tackle With tackle Riley Reiff and guard Larry Warford poised to reach the open market, the Detroit Lions are retooling their offensive line. The Lions have agreed in principle with former Ravens right tackle Ricky Wagner, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via source informed of the discussions. The prospective deal is expected to eclipse $9 million annually, establishing a new market for right tackles, Rapoport added. A fifth-round draft pick in 2013, Wagner has started 47 of 62 games in Baltimore over the past four seasons. As the top right tackle available this year, he was ranked No. 27 on Around The NFL's list of the Top 101 free agents. The Lions understand that protecting the quarterback is the top priority after Matthew Stafford spent the majority of last season in the MVP race. They're paying a high price to do so, compensating an average starter at a Pro Bowl level. _____________________ That's some good coin for a o-line guy right there.

The Pats reportedly land Gilmore at a number north of $14 per. So naturally Logan Ryan is now gone but what implications does this have for Malcolm Butler? He's on a restricted tender deal for the upcoming season but I'm skeptical there will be enough dough to sign him in a year or even match an offer sheet this year if someone makes a run at Butler. And will this make resigning Hightower impossible?

They've got plenty of room to keep Hightower if they want to. But if Tennessee or somebody drops a monster # on him that BB isn't comfortable with, he's gonna move on. It's what he does. I don't really see him investing ~$30MM in the CB position, but you never know...it's all doable if he wants to do it. Rumor going around is they might trade Butler for Cooks.
Bills and Cardinals are huge losers so far outside of getting Tyrod back cheaper. The Bills lost all their non-Watkins WRs. WR or CB is going in the 1st. Eagles got Torrey Smith at 3 years $15M.
I am confident that Belichick will succeed in making the Bills look like dupes with the Gilmore signing. NE likes to rub divisional foes noses in the dog shit. But, I expected to lose him a while ago. The Bills cap was tight, and with a deep class at CB/DB I think they'll find an adequate to better replacement and pay him on the rookie scale. I think Gilmore is worth what he'll get from NE, but it was time for BUF to move on. As for the receivers, for all their acclaim, the entire corp sucked for BUF. Again, Buffalo is forced to move on given the cap, but they really did not lose all that much. FA and the draft should produce good to better replacements.
Browns acquire Brock Osweiler, 2018 pick from Texans The Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans are pulling off a stunner of a trade. Houston is trading quarterback Brock Osweiler and a 2018 second-round pick to Cleveland, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. The teams also swapped fourth- and sixth-round compensatory picks, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added. The Browns are also weighing releasing Osweiler following the trade, Rapoport adds. With Osweiler off the books and $10 million in new cap space, the Texans are now not expected to trade for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Rapoport reported. Meanwhile, the Browns are likely to move on from last year's starting quarterback Robert Griffin III, Rapoport reported.
Chicago Bears releasing quarterback Jay Cutler The Jay Cutler era in Chicago is over. The Bears are releasing the enigmatic quarterback Thursday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the move. Chicago attempted to trade Cutler, to no avail. The move has been expected for months. With Chicago set to pay free-agent quarterback Mike Glennon $45 million over three years, with $19 million guaranteed, Cutler's release became a formality. The Bears signed Cutler to a big seven-year contract in 2014. With no guaranteed money left on the deal, Chicago saves $12.28 million on the salary cap, with just $2 million in dead money, by releasing the QB. Cutler spent eight seasons in the Windy City after being drafted in the first-round by the Denver Broncos in 2006. He played just five games in 2016 due to injury.
Detroit Lions release linebacker DeAndre Levy The Detroit Lions are parting ways with DeAndre Levy. Detroit released its star linebacker on Thursday, the team announced shortly after the start of the new league year. At last week's NFL Scouting Combine, Lions general manager Bob Quinn said he expected Levy to be on the roster in 2017. Apparently things changed in a week. Levy signed a four-year contract worth $33.74 million is 2015, coming off a massive 2014 season, in which he compiled 151 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four passes defended and one interception. The past two seasons, however, the 29-year-old has been plagued by injury. Levy played in just six games after signing his contract. Despite being thin at the linebacker position, Detroit decided it was time to cut bait on Levy. The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett reports the Lions will designate the release as a June 1 cut, which will save the Lions some salary cap room this season, but they must carry the cap number until June. The designation will eventually save the $5.825 million, per OverTheCap.com.
