I think Belichic should have been coach of the year. Because then at least he would have gotten his hands on some kind of trophy this season. Because he ain't getting his hands on the Hunt or the Lombardi this season.

 

It was a little joke at Axe being pissed that the coaches cost the Cowboys their season but celebrates them being COY right after. Yes, they aren't mutually exclusive but it was a bit funny.

 

Is Jerry Rice hard up for cash? If not, he really needs to hire someone to help him think his endorsement opportunities through a little better...

The Seahawks failed to disclose that Richard Sherman had a "serious" MCL injury all season.

The NFL could make them lose a 2nd round pick (and possibly have their 5th returned).

The Seahawks are cooperating with league, contending Sherman not missing a snap should be strongly considered on their behalf.

Vikings exec George Paton a favorite for 49ers' GM job

Packers executive Brian Gutekunst elimnated himself from the race for the 49ers' general manager job by signing a new deal to stay in Green Bay, leaving just Vikings executive George Paton and Cardinals executive Terry McDonough in the running for the position, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

Paton is expected to meet with the 49ers and soon-to-be head coach Kyle Shanahan next week, Rapoport reported on NFL Total Access. If the two sides find themselves to be a good fit, it's expected the Niners will offer Paton the job, Rapoport said.

Paton spent the last decade working with the Vikings, serving most recently as assistant general manager under Vikings GM Rick Spielman, who has held that title for six seasons. Spielman has built a young, relatively deep Vikings team that is anchored by a defense that was ferocious for much of the regular season. Paton's time with Spielman goes back to when the two worked together in Chicago and Miami more than a decade prior, and would offer a fresh, draft-focused take on a team in the Niners that has a few pieces but needs many, many more.

 

Vikings name Pat Shurmur offensive coordinator

Pat Shurmur's interim tag has been removed.

After replacing Norv Turner as the Vikings offensive coordinator when Turner resigned midseason, Minnesota has decided to keep Shurmur at the position on a permanent basis.

This is the third time that Shurmur has been an offensive coordinator for a Sam Bradford-quarterbacked team, as he had earlier stints in St. Louis and Philadelphia.

The Vikings also announced that Kennedy Polamalu is the new running backs coach while Kevin Stefanski will move to quarterbacks coach.

 

Chargers agree to terms with Gus Bradley to be DC

The Chargers have won the Gus Bradley sweepstakes.

The former Jaguars head coach was sought after by several teams after his firing, but has agreed to terms with the Chargers to be their defensive coordinator, a source informed told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
