Steelers' Martavis Bryant applies for reinstatement Steelers wideout Martavis Bryant isn't walking through the team facility door in Pittsburgh before the AFC Championship Game, but he has at least laid the groundwork for a comeback next season in 2017. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Bryant applied for reinstatement last week. He is currently suspended for multiple violations of the league's policy against substances of abuse. The league announced back in March of 2016 that Bryant would be out for a minimum of one season without pay. At the time, Bryant's agent called the wideout's drug use a "coping" and "depression" issue in an interview with USA Today. Applying for reinstatement is just the first step, of course. The league does not have a definite timetable for solving these cases and it could be a while before we see Ben Roethlisberger's favorite No. 2 wide receiver hit the field. Bryant last played in a game on Jan. 3, 2016. The 25-year-old former fourth-round pick out of Clemson has yet to play more than 11 games in a season. This would have been his third year in the NFL. While you may not see it called much at all...it's a legit call. A player can't come into the huddle and communicate with anyone and then leave without participating in the play. That, and the defensive substitution problems early in the game by the Cowboys defense, can simply be chalked up to poor coaching. Not poor officiating.
Former Lions defensive back Stanley Wilson II has been arrested while naked, and not for the first time. The Oregonian reports that police in Portland arrested Wilson on January 10 after finding him naked outside a stranger?s home. Wilson hasn?t posted bail and has been in jail since. Wilson was also arrested on June 22 after a homeowner caught him trying to break into a house. The homeowner shot him and he ran off, and when the homeowner called 911, emergency personnel arrived and found Wilson outside the home, also naked. Wilson suffered only minor injuries from the gunshot. Since that incident, Wilson has had multiple violations of his conditional release, including testing positive for methamphetamine and getting arrested for spitting at a campus safety officer. It is unclear why Wilson has been allowed to stay out of jail despite repeatedly violating the conditions of his release. What is clear is that a person who repeatedly gets arrested naked, spits at people and tests positive for methamphetamine has a serious problem. A graduate of Stanford University, Wilson once appeared to have a promising future. But like his father, the former Bengals running back who shares his name, Wilson has a serious drug problem. Wilson?s father was once benched when a Bengals coach caught him getting high before the Super Bowl, and after drugs derailed his NFL career he spent most of his adult life in prison. We hope the younger Wilson can get the help he so obviously needs.
Oh, I don't think so. Game was tied with 12 seconds left. If Dallas had scored another 6, 7 points, we're likely looking at an entirely different outcome.
but you're assuming they score. remember romo and the botched fg? how about a fg miss? a fg block? you're just assuming all of these odd calls that dallas called would lead to a TD or FG. If that isn't Homerism 101 i don't know what is. Fine, the missed hold on Cook is called and that drive, which was a punt, stays alive and eats up more clock. Now what?
So you're assuming that Dallas comes away with NOTHING on MULTIPLE drives that started at the Green Bay 15-20? If that isn't pure jealousy, I don't know what is. Cat, I never said GB couldn't have scored more. I'm saying that your blind belief that Dallas couldn't have scored more is a bit silly.
jealousy of what? a pro-team that i have nothing to do with? haha. if i was jealous of anyone it would be the Patriots who have more SBs this Century than any other team! And their QB, although a cockroach, is the best in the NFL! Now that's jealousy. Jealous of the Cowboys? haha - good one. The only thing I wish on them is the plague! you said would win outright! you didn't say shit about GB till i brought up the 2 blatant calls. you said Dallas would've won outright if they had different play calls! All teams can say that. it's all woulda, coulda, shoulda Axe. your team didn't get it done and you're making excuses of what plays to call and why this or why that. that's silly. I'm sure the Texans, Seahawks, Chiefs, Raiders and Giants want plays over too to re-run and score some more. That's all you're doing here. Your team lost and you want to replay plays with Elliott running to score when the OC or J. Garrett decided against it. That to me is silly !
Jealous of a team that's in your division, that has won the East 2 of the last three years, while your team toils in last place. And why would you wish a plague on them if they weren't an inherent threat to your Birdies? No, because YOU had already brought up Green Bay and how it could have been so much worse. I just painted a picture from the other side. Right - which you alluded to with your comments about GB possibly getting more. Why do you get to say GB should have won by more, and I can't say that Dallas would have won if it wasn't for questionable play-calling? it's all woulda, coulda, shoulda Axe. Right - on BOTH sides, Cat. Yours, too. Just as silly for you to say GB would have won by a lot more, but disallowing my position that Dallas could have added to their point total. And it's silly to me that your saying GB would have scored multiple TDs if not for a tug or two of the jersey by Dallas defenders.
why the eagles stink. the ENTIRE NFL is a thread to the Eagles. i know that. dallas got fortunate prescott worked out as well as he did and elliott stayed out of trouble. jealous? please. i hate the NFL Axe and thinks Goodell is the worst commish bs Selig. talks of Europe, poor ratings, more teams, more team moves to cities etc only make it look worse. the Raiders-Chargers fiasco is a great example of how to fuck up a league. robbing former players of their pensions is just peachy. lets have games on tuesday and wed too. the players already hate thursday games so lets have more. simple bc the OC called it! Now you want his job. you know more than the OC or Garrett? Shit, any team can say, "i want this INT to be a run now." that's what you said bf on the Prescott INT. You want the entire call to be change due to the result in order to get 1 more point to win. All I said was GB's drives would've continued if the penalties were called and in Cobb's case, probably scored. The penalties were obvious and not called. Done. You want to go back in time to run different plays in HOPES DALLAS would score to win. Not the same thing. and GB still won despite the missed calls. Dallas didn't overcome the calls by their OC or Coach to win!
Axe I'll be honest, you are just being a very sore loser. Cat being an Eagles fan was irrelevant. You are whining about bad coaching trumping your player's skills. It's weak. Very weak. Yes some play calling was poor but it was questionable both ways at times: Dallas in the 1st half and GB in the 2nd. Reffing was good outside a couple obvious holds and the only big swing all game seemed to come after a key injury to the other team. You had a great team. No one, even Cat is denying that. But now it's over, fair and square.
Right - and I believe those calls were questionable. Wasn't Pete Carroll's decision to throw from 1st-and-goal at the 1 in the Super Bowl a questionable call? C'mon, Cat. You want a different call, I want a different call. I don't see how this is different. Look, Dallas got 2 TDs and 2 FGs in 4 red zone appearances, right? YOU'RE saying they would have come up with ZERO in the drives we're discussing; I find that hard to believe. And I think Dallas wins if they don't get cute or don't get jobbed on THEIR penalty.
Dallas didn't get jobbed. They got very fairly treated by the refs. The 2 games on last Sunday were the best refed games I saw all season, not because the refs didn't miss any calls, but because they didn't favor one team over the other. All 4 teams got fair play from the refs. If the refs call those 2 or 3 blatant defensive holding penalties on the Cowboys I believe that the Packers run away with the game like 45-30.
i want a flag thrown when it CLEARLY should have been. you want time reversed and a play call to go entirely differently to benefit your team. 8 losing teams want the same thing. fine axe-dallas is the greatest. you can have all the calls you want in your favor. change every call and go 16-0. in the REAL WORLD you lost and that's not changing.
Cat, I NEVER said Dallas got jobbed or Dallas should have won the game, blah-blah-blah. The better team. Green Bay deserves to move on. And me pointing out that Dallas COULD have won the game is simply a fact. To me, it sounds like you just wanted Dallas to lose worse because you don't like them. I'm not whining, Cat - I'm playing devil's advocate. You point out that a couple calls didn't get whistled, and Green Bay could have scored more. Fine. I point out what I perceive to have been a bad call and some questionable play-calling, and you don't want to hear it. I know. And I've never said Green Bay didn't deserve to win.
As I don't want a flag thrown when it's not warranted, and I want better play-calling in the red zone. And you want to believe that Green Bay would have taken it to thew house two more times to slaughter those hated Cowboys. And have Green Bay score on every possession so the big bad Cowboys get their come-uppance and you can feel better about yourself. Third time - I know Dallas lost, and the better team won.
