here's the thing on Romo--i know he's healed but if he takes another blow to the collarbone, isn't it more susceptible to breaking it over someone who never had one broken?
edit - nah, never mind...I'm tapping out, if we can't agree on the meaning of the phrase "right now," there's no point going any further with it.
Actually Cat...the answer to that question is no... According to my daughters doctor, when she broke her arm her softball season was coming up not long after the end of her therapy and I thought the same thing. He explained that the new bone growth from the break is similar to scar tissue and it is actually thicker and stronger than the bone was before the break.
Romo played in 4 games last year 68.6 comp % 884 yds 5 TDs 7 Ints Rating of 79.4 Garoppolo has played in 4 games this year(a couple partials) 70 comp % 496 yds 4tds 0 Ints Rating of 117.1 Make your own call on what you like better but I don't think it's a ridicules statement to make at this point.
"Right now" Romo is back. He's the back-up...and I think we can agree he didn't regress to some Ryan Leaf-esque level. Or am I missing something?
Of course. We'll just focus on last year when he was without Dez as opposed to everything else he's done. Remind me again: how many games did Jimmy-cakes make it through before he got shelved...?
Last year is the closest we have to right now for Romo. And if we want to play the weapon game. Jimmy didn't have Gronk at all and Edelman was coming of foot surgery to start the season Two more than Tony.
Fair enough. Then since we're going more recent, then Dak>Brady. More games (more reliable), more passing yards, more TDs, better record.
Well if we're going by this year. Love how you throw the more reliable in there, but that's a whole other debate you're trying to bait me into as you like to do with your prey. Brady through 5 games 4-1, 72.9 comp %, 1635 yds, 12tds 1int, rating of 125.5, 1 fumble Dak through 9 games 8-1, 66.8 comp %, 2339 yds, 14 tds 2int, rating of 106.2, 6 fumbles Dak is very good. It's close. A lot closer than Jimmy over Tony.
Well, I'm sticking to the original poster's "right now" statement. The greatest ability is availability. *DRINK*
I'm not sure they will get anything for him with those monster '18 and '19 base salaries looming. Plus they will likely want to post-June 1 cut him so they can split the 19.6M in dead money charges over two seasons. There's a limited window to get that done.
or they will simply do a restructured contract and he stays on as the Cowboys backup...especially if they win a ring this year. I get the feeling Romo is the type of guy that feels the team wins the ring, not necessarily just the starter. So, I don't think he would be so bold as to demand a trade or anything like that. If he feels he is going to end up a backup anyway due to his injuries, he would most likely rather that be in Dallas behind the kid HE mentored.
Watching that interview I don't believe Romo settling for a backup role anywhere in 2017 is in his DNA.
I think the point comes down too more of the defense letting a rookie (1st year?) QB, letting him making a throw to win at the end of the game, a guy thats not even in the NFL anymore. That is the play that will be remembered. There are many mistakes throughout the game by both teams. It's what you do at the end that counts......You could actually go through every game and find mistakes on both sides 99% of the time. It's if you win or not. And the defense let him get open down the sidelines on a plain fly route.......
