Hue on pulling Kessler for McCown: 'I wanted a spark' Had the lead at the half and pulled the QB after trailing just 13-6 after 1 drive in the 3rd... I don't get it and it certainly backfired. I am Friday morning quarterbacking, but I think he jumped the gun.
Travis Kelce fined $24K for unsportsmanlike conduct Travis Kelce's laundry-tossing antics have cost him more than just an ejection. The Chiefs tight end was fined $24,309 for unsportsmanlike conduct, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday. Kelce was ejected from Sunday's win over the Jaguars after he was called for unsportmanslike conduct and responded by throwing his towel in the air like an official would a flag. He earned a second unsportsmanlike conduct in as many seconds, which constitutes an ejection, and lost nearly $25K in the process.
@AdamSchefter: Former Rams and Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery this morning following a car accident.
Several NFL owners, execs eyeing marijuana discipline changes With public attitudes and laws changing in the United States regarding the use of recreational and medical marijuana, minds are beginning to change in the NFL as well. Based on conversations with 10 NFL team owners and executives over the past few months, marijuana usage could emerge as a key issue when the collective bargaining agreement is renegotiated over the next few years. The team sources spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to talk candidly about the subject. Each of the owners support additional study and discussion regarding what the league's stance should be on medical and recreational pot use for players. The majority of the sample size supports a "decriminalization" of marijuana that would make it more difficult for players to be suspended. Two of the principals involved in the issue said they are open to getting rid of marijuana-related suspensions and only issuing fines. Two others said they are worried about sending the message that drug use is tolerated and believe suspensions must remain. Although there is a consensus to being open to change, there's no unanimity on what should be done. Easing marijuana restrictions would be a continuation of changes made in the last drug policy negotiation in 2014. In addition to the implementation of human growth hormone testing and mandatory discipline for DUIs, the suspension threshold for a positive marijuana test was raised. Players could test positive for pot four times without being suspended by the NFL. Most of the executives who spoke about the issue supported lowering the standards tied to marijuana-related suspensions. A few mentioned conversations with other owners that signaled much more support for vetting the issues and lowering restrictions. One said there is a "groundswell" of support among owners to ease suspensions for marijuana-related infractions. Changes to the current drug policy would need to be agreed upon by the league and the NFL Players Association, either as part of future CBA renegotiation discussions or as a separate policy. Voters in Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, California and Nevada have legalized the recreational use of pot in some form or fashion. Florida, North Dakota, Montana and Arkansas have recently passed medical cannabis referendums. A majority of states allow marijuana to be used for medical purposes. Seven NFL teams are in states that allow recreational marijuana use and 16 teams are in locations with approved medical use. Several league executives said the NFL should "follow the country" in the changing attitudes about marijuana use. In addition, the high-profile suspensions of Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon and Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory also has raised more awareness about the issue. In a statement, the NFL said the league and the NFLPA are constantly reviewing research and scientific data and will follow the advice of experts. "Medical experts have not recommended making a change or revisiting our collectively-bargained policy and approach related to marijuana," an NFL spokesman said. The league ultimately would discuss a change to its drug policy if it benefited players. (NFL.com) _____________________________________ I personally still think this Marijuana talk is BS. It's just the minority flexing their muscle to legalize a drug for personal enjoyment. Where do you draw the line? Pain killers next? I could argue cocaine and heroine have medicinal pain killing characteristics also... should they be legal? I used pot, by the way, for a vast majority of my life time. I know what it is and does. I don't want it legalized. De-criminalized, yes, but not a legal, use as you wish substance. I just think pot is more dangerous than what people are claiming and is a powerful mind altering substance, especially these days. It used to be mild in comparison to the stuff you can get today. I believe a few stoners in the NFL just want their way and they just want to get stoned and not pay a price... this is where I see a serious problem. *HIGH*
You can't practically make pot illegal. It's just so easy to get and alcohol and cigarettes are worse anyways. Victimless crimes shouldn't be crimes.
Broncos only won that game (in regulation that is) because the guy was wearing white shoes lol. All coaches should make that mandatory.
I'm surprised they didn't, Gronk doesn't get too many favors lol. Whatever though OT was far from a guaranteed win.
Been waiting years for someone to go for two up 7, that was wild. The buffer is nice but, had good reason to believe they could get that.
Yeah, that wasn't even close to the Panthers game. Good non-call there, IMO. They had three shots at it from the 1 before that and couldn't get it done, they didn't deserve to win. Or even tie lol. Seahawks pretty much beat their ass all day, and they still had a chance to at least tie at the end, so there's that. But they need to figure some stuff out on D pretty quick...they don't generate enough pressure on the QB and when you combine that with as many coverage breakdowns as they had last night (seriously, how can you drop 9 guys and still have people wide open???), you got no shot against a QB as good as Wilson. Brady wasn't as sharp as he had been the first four games, and the D needed to pick him up and they didn't.
On another note, if I'm being fair I should mention the Seahawks got ****ed on that review that should have been a touchdown on the goaline. Yeah Brady was very Favre like. Just throw the ball away dude. His pick was nearly a strip sack before he got it off.
Bears announce WR Alshon Jeffery suspended without pay for 4 games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs..according to a report by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune
Tough to say...obviously he broke the plane, but I could see it possible his knee was down before that when they showed the view from behind...I wouldn't've freaked out if they'd reversed it, but without a concrete view of his knee in relation to the ball when it broke, I think they were right to stick with the call on the field on that one.
Here is part of the playoff standings #5 New York Giants (5-3) #6 Washington Redskins (5-3-1) #7 Philadelphia Eagles (5-4) #8 Minnesota Vikings (5-4) Funny how the Giants are the #5 seed right now at 5-3 but a loss tonight would bump them to #7 with the Vikings moving to #6. The Giants have the in-division tiebreaker vs the Eagles but lose the tiebreaker to the Vikings. Go Bengals. I don't care about the Eagles dropping to #8 on an early tiebreaking technicality.
