Sorry that doesn’t clarify it for me. If it deflected off Cooper and Josh took it out of the air, fine. But he makes a clear reception and makes a clear football move (step to try to break tackle) before he laterals it. If Cooper fumbled it and Josh picked it up nobody would be calling it a receiving TD, how is this any different?
Any play that has a forward pass has it's yardage counted as a forward pass including backwards laterals that are loose as they aren't technically fumbles. Only the person that catches the forward pass gets credited for a catch but all subsequent yardage is counted a receiving yardage. Allen got 7 yards because he caught it behind the LOS. The previous carrier's yardage ends where the next player completes the lateral, so Cooper got a catch and 0 yards because he pitched it back beyond positive yardage to Allen. If it was actually fumbled then at that point I believe the passing yardage ends and it's a run if recovered. I could be wrong on that last part though.
With the Bills 35-10 win over the 49ers last night, the Bills clinched the AFC East for the 5th straight season. Josh Allen looks like MVP material to me.
Steelers' Tomlin calls on George Pickens to 'grow up' after flags Third-year Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens drew the ire of his head coach for drawing two costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty flags in Sunday's 44-38 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. "He's just got to grow up, man," coach Mike Tomlin said. "This is an emotional game, man. These divisional games are big. He got a target on his back because he's George, he understands that. But he's got to grow up. He's got to grow up in a hurry." ESPN
What the Saints initially feared on Taysom Hill has now been confirmed. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, tests confirmed Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury during Sunday’s loss to the Rams. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media noted Hill sustained a torn ACL and has additional damage to his knee. Hill went down in the fourth quarter after a 2-yard run to convert fourth-and-1. He was carted off the field. PFT
Hall of Famer Randy Moss reveals he's battling serious health issue, urges men to 'do your checkups' Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss revealed Sunday, first on social media and then on ESPN's "NFL Countdown," that he's battling a serious health issue, urging fellow men to get medical checkups. "Throughout the week of the holidays, your boy has been battling something internal," Moss said in an Instagram video. "And I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. ... I'm battling something, man, and it's something internal. Your boy's gonna get through it. I got a great team of doctors, and I got a great family around me. All you men, man, ya'll do your checkups and get your bloodwork done, and we'll work through it, alright? Thank you for the prayers." Moss, 47, echoed the remarks in his introduction on "Sunday NFL Countdown," while sporting a pair of sunglasses. His comments -- and the use of the glasses -- came in response to fans speculating about his condition after video surfaced of Moss recently appearing on ESPN with a yellowish tint in his eyes. Moss did not reveal the specific issue from which he is recovering. His announcement comes six years after he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The ESPN analyst is widely considered one of the top pass catchers to ever play the game. The six-time Pro Bowler, who began with the Minnesota Vikings and later starred for the New England Patriots, led the NFL in receiving touchdowns five different times, setting the record for single-season receiving scores (23) in 2007. He ranks fourth all time in career receiving yards (15,292). CBS and others __________ ______________________ Truly one of the greatest WR's Ive ever seen play... he was electric. Hope the best for him and his family.
Like I said, we might have a high scoring game like 6-3 or 41-32 or, never mind... Jameis Winston completed 34 of 58 passes and threw for 497 yards and four touchdowns, but the Browns didn’t win because of the two pick-sixes he threw. The Broncos escaped with a 41-32 win, with Nik Bonitto and Ja’Quan McMillian getting interception returns for touchdowns. Denver improved to 8-5, while Cleveland fell to 3-9. In an exciting game that had four lead changes, the Browns shredded the Denver defense for 552 yards, but the Broncos defenders had the last celebration. The Broncos intercepted Winston three times, two of them in the final two minutes, with two returned for touchdowns. Bo Nix went 18-of-35 for 294 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Marvin Mims had three catches for 105 yards, including a 93-yard score, and Courtland Sutton caught six passes for 102 yards.
Danny Cunningham @dannycunningham.bsky.social Jerry Jeudy's receiving yardage total tonight is higher than Deshaun Watson's passing yardage in every game he played this season.
Al-Shaair got a 3 gamer... Texans G.M. Nick Caserio: NFL paints “unfair” picture of Azeez Al-Shaair Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair has been suspended for three games by the NFL after being ejected from last Sunday’s game agains the Jaguars for hitting quarterback Trevor Lawrence with a forearm to the head while Lawrence was sliding. NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote in the announcement that Al-Shaair’s “lack of sportsmanship and respect for the game of football and all those who play, coach, and enjoy watching it, is troubling and does not reflect the core values of the NFL.” During a press conference on Tuesday, Texans General Manager Nick Caserio took issue with the way Runyan characterized a player Caserio said he believes “represents everything we want this program to be about.” “For the league to make some of the commentary that they made about lack of sportsmanship, lack of coachability, lack of paying attention to the rules,” Caserio said. “Quite frankly, it’s embarrassing. . . . The picture that’s been painted about Azeez, his intentions, who he is as a person — quite frankly, it’s bullshit.” Caserio noted other cases where players have been ejected without being suspended and when players have been suspended for shorter terms despite longer histories of illegal hits. Al-Shaair has been fined on several occasions, but had never been suspended before Tuesday. “One of the biggest issues that we sort of take umbrage with as a team and organizationally is a picture that’s been painted of Azeez,” Caserio said. “Quite frankly, it’s unfair. One of the biggest issues — I probably speak for a lot of teams, not only the Houston Texans. All teams ask for is consistency from the league and I’d say, in this situation, quite frankly there’s no consistency at all relative to the level of discipline that’s been handed down.” Al-Shaair is expected to appeal the suspension. PFT __________ ____________________ LOL, the NFL with not only the verdict, but commentary... cool stuff. I agree with Caserio that there isnt base consistency within the NFL, but Azeez has a history already established this season and his comments 'he' posted on X painted his own damn self in a negative light. Each case considered for suspension should always be taken as an individual case with all scrutiny established, so Caserio using passed examples doesnt really hold water in my opinion. If Caserio thinks Azeez is a player who, “represents everything we want this program to be about.”... quite frankly he needs his head examined also. I know players make mistakes, I do daily, but there are consequences for every action, good or bad. Whats a 3-game suspension to a rich player anyways? Al-Shaair should get 3 for the hit and 3 for being a butthole. Caserio has his opinion and I got mine.
Steelers expect Alex Highsmith to play this week Steelers edge rusher Alex Highsmith returned to practice last week and he’s set to return to game action this week. Head coach Mike Tomlin said at his Tuesday press conference that the Steelers “fully expect” Highsmith to be in the lineup against the Browns. Highsmith has missed the last three games with an ankle injury. Highsmith also missed time earlier in the season and has 19 tackles, three sacks, and 10 quarterback hits in his six appearances this year. Wide receiver Calvin Austin is in the concussion protocol and Tomlin said that the team will monitor him, cornerback Cory Trice, and defensive tackle Montravius Adams over the course of the practice week.
