Report: Josh Gordon had substance-abuse policy ?slip-up?

Browns receiver Josh Gordon?s return to rehab was preceded by a potential violation of the league?s drug and alcohol policy, NFL Network?s Ian Rapoport reports. Rapoport?s sources described the situation as a ?slip-up.?

Gordon announced Thursday that he was taking a leave of absence from the NFL to enter rehab. He was set to return from a four-game suspension after this week?s game.

?This is the right decision for me and one that I hope will enable me to gain full control of my life and continue on a path to reach my full potential as a person,? Gordon said in a statement.

Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson told reporters Friday that the team plans to ?move on? from Gordon. (SI)

Ryan, Jones set records as Falcons beat Panthers 48-33

ATLANTA (AP) ? Matt Ryan and Julio Jones brought down some team records ? and the defending NFC champions.

Ryan shredded Carolina's defense, passing for a team-record 503 yards and four touchdowns, Jones had 12 receptions for a Falcons-record 300 yards, and Atlanta overwhelmed the struggling Panthers 48-33 on Sunday.

A week after being held to one catch in a win at New Orleans, Jones had a 75-yard scoring catch late in the game as Atlanta (3-1) solidified its early hold on the NFC South lead. Jones' 12 catches came on 15 targets.

"We got Julio the ball in space and when he has the ball in space he's so explosive," Ryan said.

The totals by Ryan and Jones are the most ever allowed by Carolina (1-3), and the first time teammates had 500 yards passing and 300 yards receiving, according to information provided to the Falcons by Elias.

Carolina quarterback Cam Newton left the game in the fourth quarter. The team said Newton suffered a concussion after taking a hit from Deion Jones on a successful 2-point run. There appeared to be helmet-to-helmet contact but there was no penalty on the hit.

Newton appeared to be trying to take a casual jog into the end zone when he was knocked to the ground by Jones. Newton still reached the ball across the goal line.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera had no update on Newton following the game. Newton's replacement, Derek Anderson, said he saw Newton after the game.

"He was all right," Anderson said.

Did you see the 60 minutes piece on the guys who did the testing? They left no stone unturned. Your boys are cheaters - not that we didn't know that already.

The same people who concluded that second hand smoke doesn't kill? The same people who determined weather conditions such as rain had no effect on PSI? This article is from 2010 when they are being called out for flimsy science http://articles.latimes.com/2010/feb/18/business/la-fi-toyota-exponent18-2010feb18

Try the experiment yourself man, make a video of you doing the experiment. Anyone can do it.

Prove to me that the science is right. I really encourage you to try. You might learn something :) .

I support an AFC East team that has been a doormat to the Patriots for 15 years, just like the other two teams. Probability suggests I should be almost apoplectic in my fury directed against them; surely, I should be inclined to support any allegation against the "cheating" Pats. I do not.

I am not jaded when I state: "I believe that all teams cheat". That's just, to me, a manifest truth. Nor do I think the Pats are making too much noise because they're aggrieved over having gotten caught. A lot of teams have gotten caught in their efforts to bend a situation to their benefit, (i.e., to cheat).

The Pats error was not to attempt to alter the trajectory & catchability of a tossed football. (Someone, knowingly IMO, within the organization did do this.) Their big error was to have the temerity to fight the Commissioner, and worse, to obfuscate. This caused him - and 31 of his rich bosses - conniptions.

I do not see much merit in rehashing the story of deflategate. If there is, it is to concur that Pats' fans have been the most egregiously aggrieved, for the penalty paid by NE was not even closely proportional to the "crime".

My team may have been one of the great beneficiaries of this injustice. I should be happy. Instead, I feel that the Bills shutout win in NE is tainted. I feel that way because it IS tainted. The sooner I never hear about deflategate again, the better.

    *YAHOO*

The Browns have made through two straight weeks with the same QB, whom everyone thought is not ready to even sub into a professional game yet...Time to do my happy dance, despite them being 0-4...

You guys have hung tight in most of the games, I wouldn't be surprised if Sunday's game isn't relatively close. I'd say Pats by 10 is about right. Browns always seem to get this team trouble...even 07 the Browns were only down 10 before that Randall Gay scoop and score. Missing all that practice time might hurt Brady. Kinda sucks that he and Nink don't get to practice but, Le'Veon Bell who was suspended for skipping drug tests did get to. Figure that one out, get busted for peds (Nink) you get 4 games, skip the test all together you get 3.

Man you're a dunce [del]sometimes[/del] all the time. One was PEDs (otherwise known as cheating - it's a theme in NE). The other was substance abuse (otherwise known as being a dumbazz). Bell didn't take PEDs or skip any PED tests.

Browns have played hard and have been the victims of some very odd if not questionable calls.

The fact that he was running the ball means it would be totally legal to give him a head shot, hence why no penalty.

I dont think its legal to give anybody a head-shot in todays NFL...
