He just might get a ring that he's no longer a Member of the Minnesota Vikings but it is weird when players leave the Vikings they become SB Champs

The RB position is easy to replace and get decent production. You may not get Barkley every time you go to a new RB but you will get one that can give you the what you need. If your oline is decent you are better off than having a a stud RB.

I guess I have a hard time excepting that philosophy. Its been thrown around the past couple seasons. Gibbs and Robinson were both high ranked 1st round picks... Id bet when it comes time for their contracts to be upgraded if they pan out, it will all reverse. The RB position is what makes and sets up these elite QB's.

I just think the downplay of the RB is going to comeback and haunt the NFL... the RB is the bread and butter of teams offense and the NFL, in my opinion. Maybe its a cyclical thing that will eventually turn around once the GM's and owners realize they need a stud RB. Im not thinking the run n gun QB oriented offenses will survive on their own... all teams will need a work-horses in the back fields.

Bottom line is this... owners and GM's made their bed of big contracts with guaranteed money, now they want out and they started with the RB position. All other positions are increasing in pay, but the RB's are trending down when they propel teams through the course of a season.

Just my 2 cents and I might be full of shit, but the game itself needs RB talent still and why shouldnt they get the contracts the other positions are getting.

Rams agree to terms with Sony Michel

The Rams are bringing back their leading rusher from 2021.

Los Angeles announced on Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms with running back Sony Michel.

Per Jourdan Rodrigue of TheAthletic.com, Michel will sign a one-year contract.

Michel racked up 845 yards with four touchdowns and caught 21 passes for 128 yards with one TD for the Rams that season. He appeared in all 17 games with seven starts, playing 49 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

Los Angles had acquired him from the Patriots in exchange for a pair of draft picks just before the start of the regular season.

Michel spent most of last season with the cross-town Chargers. He initially signed with the Dolphins as a free agent but was released in August. He then recorded 36 carries for 106 yards in 10 games for the Chargers before he was released in late December.

The No. 31 overall pick out of Georgia back in 2018, Michel has 3,243 career yards rushing with 18 rushing touchdowns.

He rejoins a Rams backfield that includes Cam Akers, Kyren Williams, Ronnie Rivers, and Zach Evans.

    Lions unveil new blue helmet

The Lions have an alternate helmet. It’s very retro, but it’s not a throwback.

They’ve unveiled a Honolulu Blue helmet with a logo that seems to be inspired by the logo used by the classic Ford Mustang, with a silver lion profile in front of a pair of vertical bars, one blue and one silver.

The team explains the logo was designed to celebrate the team’s 90th season, and that the “classic logo” pays tribute to the team’s heritage. It will have a matte gray face mask and be worn only with the team’s all-gray alternate uniform.

It’s different. It’s new. It will be an acquired taste that many will simply refuse to acquire.

It’s the first time in decades, if ever, that the Lions opted for something other than a silver helmet. Which, given the team’s chronic struggles, could be a good thing. Sort of like Costanza doing the opposite after realizing that everything he has ever done hasn’t worked.

Report: Saquon Barkley, Giants resume contract talks

The Giants and running back Saquon Barkley have resumed contract negotiations, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

“Now, we’ll see if they can get to a point where he could become one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL,” Rapoport said Tuesday.

The sides have until July 17 to complete a deal or he will play 2023 under the $10.1 million franchise tag. Or not play at all.

While speaking to reporters at his youth football camp eight days ago, Barkley did not rule out a holdout.

Barkley, who rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022, also expressed frustration with the team’s front office. He accused the Giants of “misleading” and “untruthful” leaks about negotiations, with reports he turned down deals with annual average values of $12.5 million to $13 million.

49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has the highest annual average at the position at $16.016 million. New Orleans’ Alvin Kamara is the only other running back making more than $12.5 million a year, with a $15 million annual average.

And a 3rd for Bryant. So 2 3rds and a 5th for 8 games between two receivers. Talk about value for the Steelers

Chuck Clark out for season with torn ACL

The Jets defense has taken a hit even before the start of training camp.

Chuck Clark has torn his ACL and will be out for the 2023 season, according to multiple Thursday reports.

Clark suffered the injury toward the end of the offseason program last week. It was reported at the time that the Jets feared Clark had suffered a serious knee injury, but Clark was going to undergo further testing and a second opinion. That resulted in confirmation that Clark had torn his ACL.

New York acquired Clark from the Ravens in March. The veteran safety played all 1,093 snaps for Baltimore last season, recording a career-high 101 tackles with four passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

A sixth-round pick in the 2017 draft, Clark has appeared in 96 games with 63 starts. He’s recorded five career interceptions with 32 passes defensed.

With Clark’s injury, the Jets signed safety Adrian Amos to a one-year deal last week.
