What is amazing to me is that, if the Steelers would have waited 48 hours, they could have picked him off the waiver wire, saved that 6th round draft pick and forced the Browns to burn some dead money.
The Browns financial commitment doesn't change whether or not he was traded or released. I have a hard time believing the 24 teams ahead of the Steelers on the waiver wire would have all passed on him.
Whether he succeeds or fails doesn't change the fact that someone / more likely multiple teams would have rolled the dice and put a claim in. Too much natural ability to pass on the opportunity.
Devin Hester's NFL days aren't over yet. The prominent return man has agreed to a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced. The deal has a $4 million max value, including incentives, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, per a source informed of the situation. Hester worked out twice and passed a physical. The 10-year veteran only appeared in five games last season for the Atlanta Falcons. Hester has 19 career return touchdowns, putting him amongst the best all-time at the position. He played eight years with the Chicago Bears before spending the last two seasons with the Falcons. The plan to sign the 33-year-old Hester came when the team cut former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds.
and just think I was kidding when I said last week Minnesota can't be dumb enough to trade for Bradford. bwhahahahahahhaa
Bears release Gould, sign three-time Pro Bowl guard Sitton LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) ? The Chicago Bears released Robbie Gould, ending an 11-year run with the most accurate kicker in franchise history, and upgraded their offensive line by signing three-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton to a three-year deal Sunday night. With Gould gone and Sitton in place, the Bears figure to have a different look when they open the season against Houston on Sept. 11. Gould had quite a run in Chicago after going undrafted out of Penn State in 2005. He was working in construction when he signed with the Bears early that season after being released by New England and Baltimore. Gould helped the 2006 team reach the Super Bowl and became the Bears' all-time leader in field-goal percentage (85.4 percent) and points (1,207). He also holds club records for field goals made (276), field goals made of 50 yards or more (23), field goals made in a season (33 in 2015) and longest field goal made (58-yards in 2013). Gould had a rough stretch last season after making his first 15 field-goal attempts, though he wound up converting 84.6 percent. He made 5 of 6 field goals in the preseason but missed two extra points in the final exhibition against Cleveland. And with two years remaining on his contract, the Bears are parting ways and will need to bring in another kicker. The 30-year-old Sitton was a surprise cut by Green Bay on Saturday. He had started 112 of 121 regular-season games since being drafted in the fourth round in 2008 out of Central Florida. He was one of the leaders on a front five that protects quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The signing of Sitton should bring a smile to quarterback Jay Cutler. He will have two star guards protecting him with three-time Pro Bowl lineman Kyle Long on the right side and Sitton at left guard.
I like the deal. It is pricey, but the Vikings are all in with this move. I cant think of a better fit off the top of my head thats available to step in and start. Hand the ball to AP, pass once in a while... he can handle that.

Big pussy!
rumors are the emt's for bridgewater had to put the kneecap back on top of the knee? the cap was flailing around and flopping all over. if he came back in Sept '17 - why trade so much for Bradford? I'm guessing the knee has to be reconstructed and with 2 acl and mcl tears, the leg is mush and he's not coming back, hence the trade for slinging Sammy.
I figured you had to be young referencing that hack Adam Sandler over Burt Reynolds. I always love the little pep talk Crewe gives his team: "We've come too far to quit now." "For Granny, for Nate, for Caretaker, lets do it!"
DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins will start first-round pick Laremy Tunsil and former Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Adam Gase confirmed Monday. Both players were in tight position battles this preseason but listed as starters on the team's official Week 1 depth chart. Tunsil was selected No. 13 overall by the Dolphins in May; his draft stock fell when a video was released via social media of him smoking from a bong through a gas mask. Tunsil spent all of spring and most of training camp on the second team. But the rookie continued to improve and started at left guard in Miami's second and third preseason games. "I think Tunsil did earn it," Gase said. "We made it hard on him. Obviously, [the media] talked about it so much. But he earned being in that spot."
Not sure if already posted but Bruce Miller cut by the 49ers for punching a 70 year old man and his son after he was told the hotel was full. He just went to a random room and knocked to take their room or something and broke his face.
Eagles trade 2015 2nd round pick CB Eric Rowe to the New England Patriots for OG Josh Kline and a 2018th 4th that ca become a 3rd based on playing time. Josh Kline is already being traded around by the Eagles.
