Eagles center Jason Kelce returning for 13th NFL season

Jason Kelce will be back in Philadelphia in 2023.

The longtime Eagles center said Monday in a tweet that he has "decided to return for another year," his 13th in the NFL.

"Thank you to all my supporters and detractors for fueling me," Kelce, entering his age-36 season, wrote. "I ain't f---ing done yet!"

Falcons signing guard Chris Lindstrom to five-year, $105 million extension

Chris Lindstrom wasn't scheduled to hit free agency, but the Atlanta Falcons didn't hesitate to pay him in a big way.

The Falcons have signed Lindstrom to a five-year, $105 million contract extension, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported Monday, per a source. The team later announced the news.

The deal contains the most total money ever for an offensive guard, as well as the highest average-per-year salary, edging out the Colts' Quenton Nelson ($20M per year).

Lindstrom, 26, was the Falcons' first first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, followed by Kaleb McGary later in Round 1 that year. The Falcons picked up Lindstrom's fifth-year option, and he was set to play in 2023 in the final year of his deal at just over $13 million. Following the 2022 season, Lindstrom said he wanted to remain a Falcon for life.

PFF named Lindstrom its highest-graded guard in 2022, when he was named to his first Pro Bowl team and also was named a second-team All-Pro.

After missing 11 games to injury as a rookie in 2019, Lindstrom has started every game at right guard the past three seasons. He's been flagged for six penalties in 55 career starts and only one holding call, which came last season.


Lindstrom's football ties run deep. His father, Chris, and uncles, Eric and Dave, all played in the NFL. Chris' younger brother, Alec, was signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad. Chris' mother, Dawn, lost her battle to cancer last year.

Lindstrom was the Falcons' Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner last year.

Falcons agree to contract with David Onyemata

Almost immediately after the start of the NFL’s “legal tampering” period, veteran defensive tackle David Onyemata found his new team.

Onyemata has agreed to a three-year, $35 million contract with $24.5 million guaranteed with the Falcons, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The 30-year-old Onyemata was a 2016 fourth-round pick of the Saints who has spent his entire NFL career in New Orleans. For the last six years in New Orleans his position coach has been Ryan Nielsen, who is now the Falcons’ defensive coordinator.

Last year Onyemata started all 17 games for the Saints, and the Falcons view him as a starter who should make an impact on their defensive front this season.

Report: Bears are close to deal with RT Mike McGlinchey



The Chicago Bears have already made their first splash in free agency by agreeing to terms with linebacker T.J. Edwards. Now, it sounds like they’re close to inking another big name for the offensive line.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Bears are targeting right tackle Mike McGlinchey. “The two sides are talking and hoping to get a deal done,” per Russini.

uStadium adds that the Bears are working on finalizing a deal with McGlinchey.

The Bears have a glaring hole at right tackle, where Riley Reiff and Larry Borom split time last season. McGlinchey would be a huge upgrade for Chicago’s offensive line, where protecting quarterback Justin Fields is of utmost importance.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave has reached agreement on a four-year, $80 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed at signing with the San Francisco 49ers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

I think the Raiders came out on top of this QB swap, and they made sure they didn't overdraft Richardson or Levis without a real starter in place. Pretty good.

 

Vegas has to be the preferred place for Richardson now, if you both think that he's going to be selected in the top 10 and are rooting for his success. The only way to know how good he'll be is in meetings that we're not privy to, but he definitely has outstanding physical tools. If the Raiders can sit him behind Jimmy for a bit, they might just make out in the end.

 

The possibility now also exists that the Raiders will be out on passer regardless.

 

I don't see how Raider fan can be too excited about this. Seems like going from Derek Carr to Jimmy G. is pretty much a lateral move at best...In the AFC, loaded with great QB's, this doesn't get LV any closer to SB contention at all.

Raiders should remain in the QB hunt IMO...

 

Jimmy G's health will always be a concern, but when healthy, he's a proven leader and producer.

 

Jawaan Taylor agrees to four-year, $80 million deal with Chiefs


The Chiefs didn’t use the franchise tag on left tackle Orlando Brown and their first big splash of free agency involved a different tackle.

Agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey said that their client Jawaan Taylor has agreed to a deal with the reigning Super Bowl champions. It is a four-year deal worth $80 million with $60 million in guaranteed money.


Taylor was a Jaguars second-round pick in 2019 and he’s started every game that Jacksonville has played over the last four seasons. The right tackle did not miss an offensive snap during his first three years in the league and missed just 35 of them during the 2022 season.

Albert Breer of SI.com reports that the plan is for Taylor to play left tackle. Brown also moved from the right side to the left side after joining Kansas City.

Kansas City saw last year’s right tackle Andrew Wylie agree to a deal with Washington on Monday, so they’re still in need of one starter at tackle whether Taylor plays on the left or right side. The size of Taylor’s deal could make another big move unlikely, but the Chiefs will almost certainly be doing more up front in the days to come.

Oh, very much so. Traditionally, a team that makes this aggressive move for a passer, especially after dumping their previous one, I wouldn't expect to take another QB with a top 10 draft pick. I was just saying that, for anyone who is genuinely rooting for Richardson's success and thinks a team is going to draft him early, you'd want it to be a team like Vegas with someone sitting in front of him for a while.

 

I honestly wouldnt mind at all if the Vikings take a shot for him. With his skillz and physicality and the proper mentoring, he could be a real catch.

 

I think that's a solid pair. Any team that has an aging starter should be meeting with him, frankly. He's just going to need real seasoning, so I would hate to see him go to a team that forces him out there early.

As someone moving to Minnesota soon, even though I'm a Bears fan, I wouldn't mind the Vikings making smart picks like that this year. A place is better when the people who live there aren't miserable because their favorite team(s) suck - I've learned that after a lifetime in South Florida. Just as long as they take second to Chicago every year.
