I'm not sure the Browns have the cap space, but I would love to have him on the Browns also!

 

At this point the Rams only have a week remaining to shed $15 million of cap. "Beneficial" is no longer part of the equation.

 

I'm hoping the Falcons are considering him. Rashaan Evans is now a free agent. Seems likely to return but that's not a certainty. But even if they do resign Evans, a LB quartet of Kendrick, Evans, Troy Andersen and Mykal Walker would be an outstanding group - and Atlanta certainly does have the cap space to make it happen.

Jets acquiring safety Chuck Clark from Ravens in exchange for 2024 seventh-round pick

While the Ravens remain in Lamar Jackson limbo, they're busy making other moves -- including a trade that will clear valuable salary-cap space.

Baltimore will ship safety Chuck Clark to the New York Jets in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.

Clark, 28, has started for the past three years for the Ravens, signing a three-year extension in 2020 for $15.3 million. He'll arrive in New York with one year left on that deal.

By trading Clark, the Ravens will save $4.14 million against the cap while taking a dead-money hit of $2.63 million, according to Over The Cap. Prior to the trade, the Ravens were more than $9 million over the 2023 cap.

The writing was on the wall when the Ravens used their 2022 first-round pick on Kyle Hamilton. Clark logged a career-high 101 tackles in 2022, starting all 17 regular-season games. In his career, he has five interceptions (one run back for a touchdown), 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and 32 pass breakups.

For the Jets, this trade could help offset the potential losses of free agents Lamarcus Joyner and Will Parks. Jordan Whitehead is also slated to hit the cap at more than $10 million in 2023.

Texans lose 5th round pick for salary cap violation on Deshaun Watson. Turns out they provided him an alternative athletic club membership and didn't include it as a benefit in their salary cap calculations.

Devin McCourty announces his retirement



Patriots safety Devin McCourty has come to a decision about his playing future.

McCourty announced in an Instagram post that he has decided to retire from the NFL. McCourty said at the end of the Patriots season that he would take some time before deciding on his plans for the 2023 season and said last month that he expected to come to that decision around the start of free agency.

The Patriots selected McCourty in the first round of the 2010 draft and he remained a fixture in their secondary through the end of the 2022 season. McCourty started all 205 regular season and 24 postseason games during his long run in New England. He won three Super Bowls and was named a second-team All-Pro three times over the course of his career.

McCourty retires with 971 tackles, 35 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, and three sacks. Only Raymond Clayborn and Ty Law had more interceptions while a member of the Patriots.

Not a bad haul, but Im still curios as to who they target at #9 or if there is still some wheeling and dealing to be had.

 

I wonder if the Texans are still realling from that 32-31 win over the Colts, lol.

 

A team as far back as the Panthers were always going to have to pay up a lot. That is not because of what is considered the value of trading up for a #1 QB, but the fact that Bears could have traded back only a few spots for a big haul and gotten another big haul to trade back AGAIN for a team that wants a different QB. At 9 the QB options and teams willing to pay up to get a QB just might not be there.

 

They will be more than happy for multiple reasons if they were always going to keep it and get who they wanted anyways.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there's more dealing to come. Otherwise I'd guess they'd look to the defense with at least two of their first three picks.

But the part of this that intrigues me the most is they landed D.J. Moore as part of the deal on top of the three extra draft picks. Chicago just added a true #1 WR, filling one of their top needs with an experienced player rather than a rookie, and they still have a top ten draft pick. And they added an extra late second rounder plus extra high picks in each of the next two years.

Looking forward to seeing how the Panthers manage to flub the #1 pick.

 

Yep, the D.J. Moore target for Fields is excellent. So, the Bears did well already without even making a pick.

Scuttlebutt has the Panthers possibly trading back down to gain even more picks... thats interesting also.
