Mam, did I call this or what1? Bradford to the Vikings (who apparently paid dearly). I mentioned this on the Teddy Bridgewater thread. I'll crow about it there too!
In a stunning move that thrusts the Vikings right back into the NFC North arms race, Minnesota executed a blockbuster trade for Eagles quarterback and former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford on Saturday, the Eagles announced. The Vikings gave up a first-round pick in 2017 and a fourth-round pick in 2018 -- a massive price to pay for what could amount to one season of work. The news was first reported by ESPN and, oddly enough, mentioned in a deleted tweet by Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips earlier on Saturday morning. The deal was in the works for a few days, Rapoport said on NFL Network. After Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with a gruesome dislocated knee injury and torn ACL on Tuesday, the team began a search for an adequate replacement. The Vikings won the division last year with Bridgewater throwing just 14 touchdown passes -- the hope is that Bradford can hold the fort down and manage games in a similar way. He is currently in the first year of a two-year deal worth $36 million, which could give the Vikings an option in 2017 if Bridgewater's recovery timetable lengthens. Bradford's departure from Philadelphia and arrival in Minneapolis leaves a stunning ripple effect throughout the league. We may be looking at No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz starting sooner than 2017. The Eagles will likely roll with longtime Andy Reid backup Chase Daniel on opening day against the Browns. Bradford is once again teaming up with Adrian Peterson, just like he did at the University of Oklahoma. Back then, Bradford was looked at as one of the purest quarterback prospects in football. The Vikings are hoping to recapture some of that magic as they take advantage of their current roster window.
You can crow all you want...but ONLY because you did, I have to mention I mentioned it first... On 8/31/2016 At 9:03 am: Your post came at 1:59 PM... So go ahead and crow...but always remember where it came from first ;D
Getting reports that Mark Sanchez is signing with the Dallas Cowboys... Its official... the Broncos cut Sanchez and the Cowboys signed him a few minutes later.
Read another "report" that said that was false. Mixed messages. Would be an odd way to introduce a rookie quarterback. He's had so little preparation time.
I thought he would be an off season casualty but I expected it much earlier. Once they kept him through camp I figured he was safe. Now I hear that he could end up back on the roster but I would think Forsett would have some value other places as a veteran backup. The timing is odd here.
It's funny, Ourlad's still list Forsett at the top of their depth chart... Who is going to lead this rushing attack for the Ravens? Any insight for a guy that has not one, but two live fantasy drafts tomorrow?
_____________________ It looks like he could come back if he takes a pay cut. Strange situation for him to be in.
Saturday's trade of Sam Bradford to the Vikings has put a torch to the mythical concept of Carson Wentz's redshirt season in Philly. NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reported after the swap that Wentz, the No. 2 overall pick, will start as soon as he's healthy, according to a source informed of the team's plans. Garafolo noted that fellow Eagles quarterback Chase Daniel was "extremely upset" when told of the decision. After backing up Bradford all summer, the veteran fully expected to take over the No. 1 job. Like Bradford before him, though, Daniel can't ignore reality: First-round quarterbacks don't sit for long in today's NFL. Despite an offseason's worth of claims by the Eagles that Wentz would be tucked away in bubble wrap, those summertime promises are always dubious. Wentz has been out of commission since suffering a massive hit in Philly's opening preseason tilt. Offering better size and physical traits than Daniel, though, the rookie was destined for early action as soon as Bradford was sent packing. If Wentz is healthy enough for Week 1, it sets up a fascinating showdown with the Browns, who traded the No. 2 pick to Philly before the draft, allowing the Eagles to select their quarterback of the future. None of this should surprise Eagles fans -- or listeners of the Around The NFL Podcast. We said for months that Wentz would play sooner than Philly's cadre of decision-makers were letting on. That would have been true even with Bradford on the roster, but Saturday's headline-grabbing trade only hurried the inevitable.
Terrance West is the starter now. That's a given and he will have Week 1 to show whether or not he can handle the job because they won't sign Forsett back until after Week 1. As I'm sure you know a veteran's salary is guaranteed for the year if he's on the Week 1 roster. Will he perform? I think he will. It's why I traded for him in dynasty. But there are naturally no guarantees. If he puts it on the carpet he'll slide to 3rd team pretty damn quick. Harbaugh doesn't tolerate fumblers.
Not sure who the author is above but I also thought he would be cut earlier in the year. 3M is a big number for a 30yr old journeyman RB. But when they didn't do it earlier I just figured I was wrong. Didn't expect it to happen so late. West's development and obvious dedication to his physical development certainly helped make the decision for him. He came into camp in phenomenal shape and always had the talent. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if they brought Forsett back but they cut the cord. They aren't bringing him back for any significant money. What is he willing to take considering it will likely happen after Week 1 and it won't be guaranteed? Does he have more value somewhere else?
Pittsburgh Steelers - Justin Gilbert traded from Browns, for 2018 6th round draft pick. Hard to believe the Steelers and Browns would make a trade. Gilbert a 2014 Cornerback 1st round pick was not going all out in camp and the players were also not happy with him. Is it because the Browns are so bad and trading away a lot of early picks? Can Tomlin get more out him? Seems like a good trade for the Steelers to shore up their backfield. If not, it's only a 6th round pick 2 years from now.......Will Gilbert play up to his potential on a winning team? Source: CBS Sports....
