WOW-One of the great reports who didn't rely on shtick like everyone on ESPN. Wow, 61 is way too young. He will be sorely missed in the sports and broadcast world. A class act all the way. RIP John!

How the hell did Hannah Storm get through broadcasting that news? Wow.

    Yes, you are right...

    It isn't entirely accurate...

The NEW turf came from the Super Dome...not the old turf...which was about 13 years old.

But this new turf from the Super Dome was like brand new and passed two tests...one once it was installed and another the day of the game prior to the paint being put down.

That's their 1st and 2nd round picks now. A pair of steals but at least one was looking to miss time rookie season due to injury. Seems like it will be 2 now. It sucks but looking ahead as long as they contribute well it is great for Buffalo.

Ezekiel Elliott: 'I'm ready to go kick some (butt)'

Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott understands why the training staff wants to slow him down a little bit. The projected feature back likely will miss the preseason opener and possibly more with a tweaked hamstring.

But that doesn't mean he's gotten complacent.

In an interview with NFL Media's Michael Irvin, which aired Thursday morning on Good Morning Football, Elliott was asked about the expectations riding on his shoulders.

"This is what I've worked my whole life for and I wouldn't have it any other way," he said. "I'm excited for the season, I'm excited to start this journey and I'm ready to go kick some ass."

The last part of that quote wasn't lost on Elliott's teammates, who have picked up on the supposed swagger of the young running back.

"I love his confidence," Dez Bryant told Irvin. "I love the swagger about him. I think whenever you ballin' and you come from Ohio State you full of swagger, so I think that gives us some things to work with and a lot of confidence in him."

While this weekend means the highly-anticipated debut of many rookies, Elliott represents an unknown commodity to the greater NFL community. At the moment, all we have are rave practice reviews, hype-quotes like the one from Bryant and hours of tape that make Elliott a safe bet for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Before he makes good on his promise to kick some butt, he'll have to weather the difficulty that comes with waiting to get off the sidelines.

Ladarius Green sidelined by headaches, not ankle injury

LATROBE, Penn. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made just one splashy -- and much-needed -- free agent signing this past offseason, tight end Ladarius Green. They have yet to see him in their offense, though, and a member of the organization, informed of the player's health, said it has nothing to do with the tight end's surgically-repaired ankle -- but is instead an issue with recurring headaches.

Green signed a four-year, $20-million contract in March, which included a $4.75 million signing bonus, but he has yet to practice.

His ankle surgery in January ostensibly kept him out of spring practices and minicamp and he's spent the entirety of training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has maintained that Green's sustained absence from the field is not entirely unexpected, and he reiterated that Wednesday, as he readied his team for its preseason opener Friday against the Lions.

"He's progressing, but we really thought it would be touch-and-go up to this point," Tomlin said. "The (ankle) surgery was not a routine cleanup, so we knew it would be a significant amount of time."

Green's agent, Adisa Bakari, however, said Green's "ankle is fine," on Wednesday night. Bakara would not comment on what is ultimately keeping Green sidelined, and his client reportedly has been seen running sprints at St. Vincent's College, while his teammates practice.

Green complained of headaches after suffering two concussions in two weeks last September with the Chargers, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune. Those were his second and third concussions in less than one calendar year. Green sat out one game last season due to a concussion, while ankle issues sidelined him for two others. A concussion also caused Green to miss one game during the 2014 season. (NFL.com)

Ladarius Green still has not practiced for his new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now, according to NBC Sports, Green could be considering retirement possibly related to a long history of head-related injuries. Wednesday's report suggests that If his headaches don?t subside, retirement is in play.

The talented tight end signed a four-year contract worth $20 million in March that included a $4.75 million signing bonus, but he has yet to practice one play. Although most have thought it has to do with a surgically repaired ankle, the real reason is "recurring headaches," Pro Football Talk reported, citing an unidentified source.

The same unidentified source speculated that Green could be cut by the Steelers, a move that could potentially recover Green's almost $5 million signing bonus, although at this point that is only speculation.

Of course, with Martavis Bryant suspended for the season and longtime tight end Heath Miller retiring in February, Pittsburgh would undoubtedly rather have Green's services next season than leave Antonio Brown without much protection.

It appears this would eventually come down to how Green is feeling, and if he is comfortable strapping on a helmet to take the hits.

His passes look crisp and he threw the ball well while on the run. he ran and eluded a few guys as well.

chase daniel couldn't outrun a turtle and looked awful.

Well Chase Daniel did score a rushing TD. Lol.

Wentz looked very promising. He made some rookie mistake, a bit too excited on some throws especially when the oline was being a seive. Sometimes some guys didn't move after the snap in lala land while defender just blew past them. And by not move I mean stayed in their presnap stance. He needs to know what passes are dangerous under pressure and when not to throw sloppy ones down the middle.

Read articles and the media is split. Some called it a great performance and others only do after baiting you in with a headline that says he sucked. Media agendas, sigh. Hit was only preseason but some improvement and getting rid of those nerves and fans will be screaming for him to start week 1 because he looks the best and not just his potential and draft spot.

Cam Newton's sideline celebration costs Panthers TD

Late in the first quarter of the first preseason game, Carolina Panthers linebacker A.J. Klein picked off a bobbled catch attempt by Ravens receiver Darren Waller and sprinted 95 yards with a convoy of blockers for a touchdown.

    The TD would not stand.

The score was wiped out by a penalty on Cam Newton. Officially it goes down as an "illegal substitution" because Newton ran on the field celebrating prematurely as Klein streaked for the score. Instead of a touchdown, the Panthers got the ball at the 26-yard-line.

"I just got too excited," Newton told reporters after the 22-19 loss, per ESPN. "I was hoping they would give a warning."

The touchdown was taken away from Klein, but QB2, Derek Anderson, made sure the Panthers got the points, tossing a back-shoulder touchdown to Devin Funchess several plays later.

The NFL made sideline penalties for players and coaches breaching the boundary during play a point of emphasis this season. (NFL.com)
