He wants to play for a winner. The Lions remind me more of the Browns organization, except for accidently making the playoffs a year ago.
Bucs fire Lovie The Bucs provided the surprise of the coaching firing season, dismissing Lovie Smith after just two years.
By comparison, if you look at the last half of Detroit's season they played pretty well and showed the talent they have. Good receivers, QB and defense. Just need a couple pieces on that Offensive line.
Problem is that always seems to the the Lions they show you just enough to think hey they are going to take the next step they have the talent and then they don't.
And yet you were the one telling me that regardless of record they'd DESERVE the division title and home field advantage, as if it were an accomplishment.
I looked it up - it's 15. So it appears they're more likely to come from behind and win than come from ahead and lose.
So there we have it. His resume' is 90 games total in 5.5 seasons. Won only 46, coming from behind around 22 times to win that many against 44 losses but 15 of those were given up in the 4th quarter. Topped .500 once. Won the division 1 time. Won 1 playoff game. No Divisional wins. No Championship wins. No Super Bowl wins. This was "supposed" to be an up & coming NFL head coach....for how many years??
Ask Marvin Lewis. For the record, the great Sean Payton's blown 6 4th-quarter leads the last two seasons.
Are you comparing Garrett's resume' to Payton's?? His rookie year alone put the Saints in the NFCCG. Coached 154 games total in 10 years, missing 1 season Won 93 Lost 61 Won the Division 3 times Won 1 Wildcard game Won 2 Divisional games Won 1 Championship game Won 1 Super Bowl
[h]Broncos will start Peyton Manning in Divisional Round[/h] It's official. Peyton Manning is back. The Broncos announced Thursday that the veteran quarterback will start under center when Denver kicks off their Divisional Round playoff tilt on Jan. 17. Coach Gary Kubiak told the team early Thursday after meeting privately with backup Brock Osweiler, who started seven games after Manning was essentially benched amid suffering a torn plantar fascia in his left foot in Week 10. Manning returned in Week 17 against the Chargers, taking over for Osweiler to help the Broncos score 20 points over the final quarter and a half to trigger a 27-20 Denver win that helped the Broncos clinch the AFC West and the top seed in the AFC. It's not a surprising announcement. Manning brought a spark to the offense and his presence on the field seemed to lift the running game. Still, that's what we were saying about Osweiler when he took over for Peyton. It's fascinating to watch the AFC's top seed flip-flopping quarterbacks in January, but the move makes sense on paper. Manning is a future Hall of Famer and Kubiak was wise to keep the door open for his return. That decision alone won't fix the problems Manning had throwing the ball this season, but the team will now rise or fall on his shoulders. (NFL.com...)
Wasn't it you that had said before that the whole picture means more than cherry-picking from parts of it? If you look at this year alone, Payton outdid Garrett. If you look at all the last 5 years, Payton outdid Garrett. If you look at all their years as a whole, Payton outdid Garrett by a lot.
And I NEVER said Garrett was better than Payton, nor did I ever say that Garrett was a great coach, did I? But I do find it hilarious that NOW you want to view the whole picture instead of what's happened recently.
I was pointing out Garrett's career resume'. I didn't bring Payton into it, you did. NOW I was talking about the whole to begin with, not just part of it.
YOU made a big point out of Dallas blowing 4th quarter leads; I just showed you the Sainst were just as guilty. Right...because this time around it fits your position.
So the Saints blew leads too, that doesn't effect Jason Garrett's resume' any. That's correct. This time around my position began about a 5.5 year span, not just the last 2 years. It fits.
Then why would you mention it as a strike against Garrett...? And in the "what have you done for me lately?" NFL, my position that Garrett has been a better coach than Payton the last two years also fits.
Because he only has 46 wins total and had to come from behind 22 times to get that many. Does it follow that they were trailing 24 times? And as you pointed out, 15 of the 44 he lost were in the 4th quarter. Doesn't that follow that 29 games they were even or trailing? Garrett with Marinelli were better than Payton with Ryan in 2014 but not in 2015.
