He went 2-1 as a starter for the Stihlers in Big Ben's absence last year. If Romo gets hurt and has to miss 3 games, I'll take a 2-1 record from our replacement ANY day of the week. Last years Dallas' clown show of replacements went 1-11.
If we didn't have LeVeon Bell we would have been 0-3, in one of those wins Jones took over for Vick and was the reason we won.
Cowboys were getting good production out of Darren McFadden. Sucks or not, Vick wouldn't be worse than Brandon Weeden or Matt Cassell.
lol, Well, that's a mouth full...Brandon Weedon? No, probably not worse, but not good in any way shape or form.
Well those are hardly noteworthy for this time of the year. Agree to disagree on Gregory. Never saw him as a Top Ten talent and he's done nothing while on the field to support that. Still early. Dez no doubt. Lael situation was really odd. Can't believe someone didn't draft him late. I realize he said he wouldn't sign but then he wouldn't play.
They had a lot of nothing before with Moore. Can't believe that guy was on an NFL roster. Surely there's a handful of guys out there that can outplay Moore. I'd take Tavaris Jackson over Moore any day of the week.
Vick played about 1 quality quarter in those 2 and a half games, and that was the 4th quarter of the Chargers game that he won. Vick was always inaccurate, but now his speed is going. He might be ok with Dallas with their pretty good ground game, but if anyone shuts that down they will be in trouble. Basically if Romo goes down again, the Cowboys are pretty screwed unless Prescott turns into the next Tom Brady...
Think a broken ankle for your back-up QB is fairly note-worthy. Then you're about the only one. Virtually every draft "expert" had him as a Top 10-15 talent. Agreed.
He has familiarity with Scott Linehan's system, which counts for something. But he was 3rd on the depth chart for a reason.
I think that's the case whether they sign Vick or trade for McCown. And if you're gonna be screwed either way, why not save the draft choice...?
Michael Vick should not be an option for anybody. Period. Take it from the Steelers fans that watched that debacle last year! The guy is DONE! He was absolutely awful in every game he played. He made one good throw on a play designed by Ben on the sideline in the Chargers game, then made a couple of good runs on the final drive in that game. Other than that, he was absolutely terrible. Le'Veon Bell saved him in the Chargers game and Landry Jones saved him in the Cardinals game. Seriously, when a fanbase is calling for Landry Jones, a guy we all thought was a complete waste of a roster spot, to take over less than a game into Vick's stint, you know he's playing terribly!
Alright - my Steeler bretheren have me convinced. Just say "no" to Mike Vick! Barring a trade for Josh McCown, then what are we looking at? Tarvaris Jackson? Charlie Whitehurst? TJ Yates? Matt Flynn?
Seriously speaking. No way Manziel gets signed by Dallas when he has to sit out 4 weeks of practice and can't suit up in that time.
If Kellen Moore had to suit up and play 12 games this year you'd be looking at another 1-11 record IMO so I just don't see his loss as being significant. There are 5-6 guys on the street right now I'd want playing QB over Moore if I were running the Cowboys. Yes, Moore knows the system but it's August 4th. Couldn't be that difficult to get a guy ready to go by September. Just can't believe Dallas would even go into a season with Moore as the backup.
Disagree. 1) With a healthy Dez, I'd assume a better than 1-11 mark if Romo were lost for that many games. 2) He's the back-up - he's getting more more snaps than the #3 and the rookie, and is the one developing more a rapport with the other players. 3) Losing the back-up and needing a veteran means now going out, finding one, possibly spending a draft pick to get one, getting him familiar with the offense, hoping he develops a rapport with his offensive teammates, etc. It's no small investment.
