Evan McPherson 35-yard field goal gives Bengals 24-21 victory over Jaguars

C.J. Uzomah caught five passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, along with with a critical 25-yard reception on the Bengals final drive of the game, to set up a 35-yard game-winning field goal from Evan McPherson as Cincinnati grabbed a 24-21 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.

With the game tied 21-21 in the closing minutes, a third down sack of Joe Burrow by Damien Wilson seemingly brought a half to the Bengals’ final drive. However, the sack was negated due to defensive holding on Tre Herndon as Cincinnati continued to march down the field.

Even with an offensive holding backing the Bengals up, Burrow hit Uzomah on a tight end screen that broke free for 25 yards to move the team to the Jaguars’ 21-yard line with 21 seconds left to play. After a 4-yard gain from Samaje Perine drained the remaining clock, McPherson’s 35-yard kick gave the Bengals the victory.

Burrow completed 25 of 32 passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns on the night for Cincinnati. Tyler Boyd caught nine passes for 118 yards. Joe Mixon added 67 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Jaguars had held a 14-0 lead behind touchdown runs from James Robinson and Trevor Lawrence. After a missed 43-yard field from McPherson, Robinson capped a 67-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run to give the Jaguars a 7-0 lead. Lawrence scored on a 7-yard in the second quarter as Jacksonville took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

The Bengals would respond with their first two drives of the second half. Uzomah caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to get Cincinnati on the board. Mixon would follow with a 1-yard touchdown run to even the game at 14-14.

Robinson’s 4-yard touchdown put Jacksonville back on top early in the fourth quarter before Uzomah’s second score, a 31-yard strike from Burrow, again leveled the score with nine minutes left to play.

Lawrence completed 17 of 24 passes for 204 yards for Jacksonville. Laviska Shenault caught six passes for 99 yards. Robinson finished the night with 78 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

    Report: DJ Chark fractures ankle

It didn’t look good when it happened, and it’s not good.

Jaguars receiver DJ Chark fractured his left ankle on the third play of Thursday night’s game against the Bengals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Chark was blocking when running back James Robinson accidentally rolled into the receiver’s left leg while being tackled by linebacker Germaine Pratt. The Jaguars initially listed him as questionable to return, but they since have downgraded Chark to out.

Chark missed nine games his first three seasons. He obviously will miss significant time this season.

Chark, 25, was looking for a big season in the final year of his rookie deal. He is making $2.183 million in base salary this season and due to hit free agency in March.

Chark’s only 1,000-yard season came in 2019 when he made his only Pro Bowl. He has seven receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns this season.

A.J. Brown, Julio Jones, Bud Dupree out for Week Four

The Titans will be missing both of their starting wide receivers against the Jets on Sunday.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel announced that A.J. Brown and Julio Jones will both miss the game due to hamstring injuries. Neither player practiced at all this week, so it’s no surprise that they will be out for Week Four.

Vrabel said the team is deciding whether to add wideout Marcus Johnson to the active roster after designating him for return from injured reserve this week. Josh Reynolds, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Chester Rogers, Cameron Batson, and Racey McMath are the other receivers in Tennessee.

The Titans have also ruled out edge rusher Bud Dupree with a knee injury. Dupree was active last week, but did not play.

Cornerback Caleb Farley is out again with a shoulder injury and a groin injury will keep punter Brett Kern out this weekend.

Steelers OLB T.J. Watt back from groin injury, on track to play vs. Packers

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro pass-rusher T.J. Watt put pen to paper on a contract extension that could be worth over $112 million total when all is said and done ahead of the regular season. Since then, however, Watt has completed only one full game, as he suffered a groin injury in the Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders that kept him sidelined for last Sunday's disappointing defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals.

As Myles Simmons explained for Pro Football Talk, Watt was listed as a full participant in practices held on Thursday and Friday and seems good to go for Sunday's showdown with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

"I feel really good," Watt told reporters Friday. "Full practice yesterday and full practice today, so I feel really good with where my body is at."

Thus far, Watt has accumulated seven total tackles, three sacks, six quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and one tackle for a loss this season.

Gronk is doubtful to play vs Patriots... thats a shame.

According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, the Buccaneers officially listed Gronkowski as doubtful for Sunday's showdown shortly after head coach Bruce Arians told reporters the 32-year-old would be a game-time decision due to the rib injury he picked up in last Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams:

Saquon Barkley TD gives Giants an overtime win in New Orleans

The Giants were down 21-10 in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Saints and that made it look like an 0-4 start was close to becoming a reality, but things took a turn their way from that point.

Saquon Barkley split out wide and caught a 54-yard touchdown from Daniel Jones to bring the Giants within a field goal and Jones piloted the team for that field goal on a 59-yard drive after the defense forced a New Orleans punt. The Giants won the coin toss in overtime and Jones hooked up with Barkley, John Ross, and Kenny Golladay to move the ball to the Saints’ 6-yard-line.

Barkley took the ball into the end zone from there and the Giants got a much-needed 27-21 win. Barkley was nearly the goat when he fumbled earlier on the drive, but tight end Kyle Rudolph recovered to keep the Giants’ hopes alive. The running back had 13 carries for 52 yards and caught five passes for 74 yards in his best game since returning from last year’s torn ACL.

Jones was 28-of-40 for 402 yards and also hit Ross for a 52-yard touchdown in the first half. That score came a play after Aldrick Rosas missed a 58-yard field goal.

Trying that kick is one call that Sean Payton might want back and some may question the Saints’ head coach’s decision to have Taysom Hill take a deep shot to Deonte Harris in the third quarter. The previous play saw Jameis Winston hit Kenny Stills for an apparent touchdown that was wiped out by a holding penalty on Adam Trautman, but James Bradberry picked off Hill’s pass.

Winston was 17-of-23 for 226 yards and a touchdown while Hill scored twice on running plays. Alvin Kamara chipped in 120 rushing yards, but the Saints offense didn’t make enough plays to put the game away.

The Saints are now 2-2 and will be in Washington next weekend. The 1-3 Giants will head to Dallas for a date with their longtime NFC East rivals.

The Cowboys led the Panthers, 36-14. They won 36-28.

The Panthers’ comeback attempt was thwarted with the Cowboys having a third-and-one at the Carolina 41 with two minutes remaining and Carolina out of timeouts. Dak Prescott gave the ball to Ezekiel Elliott who optioned it to Tony Pollard for a 5-yard gain. It allowed the Cowboys to end the game in victory formation.

Washington escapes Atlanta with a win

In a back-and-forth battle in Atlanta, the Washington Football Team pulled out a last-minute victory in a game that had looked lost.

The victory came when Taylor Heinicke hit J.D. McKissic with a short pass that McKissic turned into a spectacular 30-yard touchdown, with a dive into the end zone at the end. That gave Washington a 34-30 lead, and although Atlanta did manage to get into position for a Hail Mary as time expired, the pass fell incomplete in the end zone.
