Oh I see. They have had some really bad luck so far, but as long as Romo and Bryant stay healthy they'll have a shot at the division.
Not sure where Luck fits in. When you draft / sign guys like McClain and Gregory you're basically asking for it. Don't know Lawrence's background but don't recall any red flags pre-draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs sign QB Nick Foles. He's back with Andy Reid. Maybe the Cowboys situation forced them to pay more. They were possibly hoping to get him cheap as the summer went on and Foles got desperate.
Yet THEY are still the ones being talked about more...Seems "losing out" on, if you want to call it that, may have forced the Cowboys hand and it looks like they might be looking more towards the trade route.
Elliott #1, McFadden #2, Alfred Morris #3. Dunbar is more a pass-catching, change-of-pace back, but yeah - that's 3 that are battling injury right now. Fortunately - from Dallas' perspective - Elliott's appears to be more a "tweak" and they're just going to be cautious with him.
Think we were talking more about the injuries - Tyrone Crawford, Kellen Moore, and Ezekiel Elliott. Yeah, they rolled the dice. But McClain was a low-budget signing, didn't have to give up much. Gregory was a Top 10 talent at the bottom of the 2nd round - at SOME point, reward outweighs risk. Keep in mind they also "asked for it" with Dez BRyant and Le'al Collins - both of those moves appear on their way to working out well.
Interesting. Seemed to me from early reports that Foles was likely going to Dallas. What's next for Dallas as back-up? Trade for Josh McCown? Mike Vick?
Big debates on Cleveland sports radio this morning, since the rumor is the Cowboys are asking about McCown. The general consensus is the Browns would get a 6th or 7th rounder for McCown. Personally, I wouldn't do it... Now, make it worth getting out of bed and give me a 4th rounder and I would do it, but now that becomes much too high compensation for Dallas and McCown's worth...so I don't know that I see this deal getting done.
4th is WAY too high for a back-up QB (imo). But the market's drying up; not like there are a lot of solid options out there.
I agree Axe, especially a 37 year old with 2 years left on his contract and most likely career...However, you would solve your backup problem for 2 years. The Browns just spent a 3rd rounder on their future backup, but again, that's for a rookie that will give you at least 4 years (if he works out). McCown is a know quantity with a short shelf life, and there is little else out there to go after. All, I'm saying is the Browns ALSO need a competent backup, so letting him go for anything less really doesn't help the team. 6th or 7th rounders succeed at about the same rate as undrafted free agents.
Micheal Vick wouldnt be a bad signing... Maybe even Freeman, but with Romo's shoulder, he's one snap away possibly from being sidelined again and you realistically have to consider who would be the best as a starter, so i would go with, McCown. Im telling ya, when you research QB's... there is a lot of nothing out there. Dallas is 'forced' to trade, in my opinion.
My two cents - if it's between trading a 4th rounder for Josh McCown or keeping the pick and signing Mike Vick...I'm going with Vick.
Yes, but right now, it isn't you...it's Jurrah, who just suffered through a terrible season once Romo went down, and I don't think he is prepared to go through that again...If they spent a 4th rounder on Dak Prescott to be the future backup, I can see him spending a 4th rounder to get a better current backup in McCown over Vick.
