How is Bradshaw garbage? #1 pick in 1970, 3 time Pro-Bowler and 4 Super Bowl wins... not sure i think thats garbage.
Andy Reid: Chiefs starters will play a quarter in first preseason game Patrick Mahomes will get some work in on Saturday. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Thursday that he’s planning to have Kansas City’s starters play a quarter for the team’s first preseason matchup with San Francisco. Reid added that the twos would play the second quarter, the threes will play the third, and the fours will play the fourth. Asked how he came to that determination, Reid cited his process from when there were four preseason games. “I basically do it the same way we did our first three before,” Reid said in his press conference. “And they’ve got two weeks [after the third preseason game] where we’re practicing, so got to get them some work in.” One reason the Chiefs may need to get some work in with their starters is the team’s overhauled offensive line. Kansas City could have upwards of five new players up front, so Reid wants to see that group function. “That continuity, the communication, working together through different looks,” he said. The Chiefs play the 49ers in Santa Clara on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. PFT
Mitch Trubusky was a #2 overall pick who went to the ProBowl. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. These accolades don't determine whether or not a player is any good. Also, he's talking about a QB who played in the 40's.
Luckman was an all-star player. One of the best of his era. I believe he lead the 73-0 championship victory over the Redskins. Just because he was before your time doesn’t mean he was a bum. Back in the 70’s when I was kid Luckman was considered to be one of the all-time greats. Bradshaw won 4 SBs , was a SB MVP twice and a league MVP once. Even Bradshaw was before your time.
For his time Luckman was good. That was a different era. QBs weren't what we consider QB's today. Luckman averaged less than 14 passing attempts per game in his career and only completed half of them. The position was different. When I say legit QB....I mean in the modern era when the positioned evolved. As far as guys like Namath and Bradshaw go...tell me you'd be happy with their game stats in todays era? You wouldn't. Not that it's fair to compare eras. What it took to be considered good in 70s compared to what it takes now is totally different.
So, you are finally admitting all the championships before the Super Bowl are in fact championships? That has taken a decade or better for you to admit!
Jaguars trading Joe Schobert to Pittsburgh The Jaguars are sending linebacker Joe Schobert to Pittsburgh. The trade has not been finalized yet, but Schobert confirmed reports to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “Great place to play behind that D-line,” Schobert told Fowler. Schobert’s wife, Megan, actually broke the news on social media. Schobert, 27, signed a five-year, $53.75 million deal with Jacksonville before the 2020 season. Schobert started all 16 games for Jacksonville last season, making 141 tackles with three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown. The Browns selected Schobert in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. He started 49 games for the Browns and led the league in tackles in 2017 with 144 when he made his only Pro Bowl. PFT
Cardinals first-round rookie Zaven Collins impresses in NFL preseason debut Cardinals linebacker Zaven Collins is making the step up from college football at Tulsa to the NFL, and in his first preseason game on Friday night he looked like he belonged. Collins tackled Cowboys running back Tony Pollard for a two-yard loss on the second play from scrimmage, later added a quarterback hit, and looked very comfortable as the player making the defensive play calls. “Yeah, I feel for the plays that we got we executed pretty efficiently as a defense,” Collins said, via the Arizona Republic. “Making that good play at the beginning was obviously a good start.” Collins, Isaiah Simmons and Jordan Hicks played plenty together in three-linebacker sets. “It was more than I thought it would be,” Collins said, via SI.com. “I felt comfortable in our defense. There was great communication between the three of us.” Collins won the Bronko Nagurski Award and Chuck Bednarik Award last season as the best defensive player in college football, and the Cardinals drafted him with the 16th overall pick. The expectations for him are high, and the Cardinals have to be happy with what they saw. PFT

Jalen Hurts on Eagles WR Quez Watkins: 'That guy is not a secret anymore' Preseason football won't provide massive revelations about schemes, give many glimpses of veteran players, or provide any insight into how the coming campaign will unfold. However, the exhibition slate can sometimes provide a peek at a player who might be ticketed for a more prominent role than once realized. Diamonds can be found in the rough watch that is preseason football. Case in point: Philadelphia Eagles receiver Quez Watkins. "That guy is not a secret anymore," quarterback Jalen Hurts said after the Eagles' 24-16 loss Thursday night, per the team's official transcript. Watkins took a WR screen-pass, busted angles with his speed, and scampered to the house, going 79 yards for the first-quarter score. The TD came one drive after Hurts and Watkins just missed connecting on what would have been a 98-yard score. Watkins had burned the defense and had a couple of steps, but Hurts, standing in his end zone, overthrew the heave by about half a step. "I'd like to have a 98-yard touchdown," Hurts said. "Simple as that. One thing I was thinking about, though, as I walked up here was [Watkins] isn't a secret anymore. So, that's unfortunate." A 2020 sixth-round pick out of Southern Miss, Watkins played in 13 games as a rookie, compiling just seven catches for 106 yards and a TD. There had been rumblings from Eagles camp that Watkins had flashed and could force his way into more playing time -- despite Philly's use of high draft picks at the position. "This whole offseason, I just made everything personal," Watkins said Thursday night. "Everything people said I couldn't do. 'I was only fast.' I just made everything personal and put the work in." Watkins might want to be known as more than just a speed guy, but it's those blazing feet that give him a shot to have an impact in 2021. Thursday night, he made Steelers rookie Tre Norwood look like he was running in sawdust trying to catch up after Watkins' speed forced the safety to take an atrocious angle. "That's not the first time I've seen [Watkins] take one of those screens," Hurts said. "He's, like, two-for-two on those screens in his career. I think he's a great player. He knows what I think of him and he could be a really good player for us. This game is no representation of what he's been doing and the progress he's made from last year. [From when] we both got here until now." Watkins entered training camp battling for positioning on the depth chart. With 2021 first-round pick DeVonta Smith joining 2020 first-rounder Jalen Reagor, along with Greg Ward, Travis Fulgham, and even former second-rounder J.J. Arcega-Whiteside at the position, Watkins needed a standout summer to earn snaps come September. Thus far, he's impressed. "Any time you get a guy that can run like Quez can, that's obviously a very big threat to the defense. Softens them up," head coach Nick Sirianni said Thursday night. "We have seen that, right? You guys have been at all the practices. You've seen him get behind the defense, make some plays on the ball. That's what impressive with Quez, he has good strong hands that can go up and make plays. He has that speed and can go up and make plays. So that's a weapon that we're hoping to continue to develop." The preseason won't provide massive revelations, but it will hint at who we should give a closer look at in the coming weeks to see if a surprise character has the chance at a bigger, scene-stealing role. Watkins let the football world know Thursday night that he's worth keeping an eye on. NFL.com

Mychal Kendricks signing with 49ers Mychal Kendricks visited the 49ers this week. He will sign with the 49ers next week. The free agent linebacker and the team have agreed to terms, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. Kendricks was sentenced to one day in jail, three years of probation, and 300 hours of community service last month after pleading guilty to insider trading in 2018. Kendricks entered the guilty plea when he was a member of the Browns. He never played a game for the franchise, which cut him during the preseason. Kendricks then signed with Seattle and played 18 games for the team over the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He recorded three sacks and eight tackles for loss in 2019. He spent time on Seattle’s practice squad in 2020 before Washington signed him late in the season. He appeared in one regular-season game for Washington before starting its playoff loss to Tampa Bay. Kendricks had six tackles in the postseason matchup. Kendricks was a second-round choice of the Eagles in 2012. In nine seasons, Kendricks has appeared in 104 games with 91 starts. He has 19 sacks, 52 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, four interceptions and 30 passes defensed. PFT
