You raise a good point. I think, im not positive, but pot stays with you for quite some time. If weed is the issue he could miss a test or two and as long as he's tested within a 30 day period or so, i think it would still reveal whether or not he's clean. Other substances, with a shorter half-life would be a different story. I just think with weed they might be able to cut the perp some slack. I dont know... prolly brings up a whole nother discussion on what types of substances can be treated as petty. Thats definitely a road the NFL or society is not quite ready for, i guess.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/t...ut-their-missing-rb-who-isnt-returning-calls/ Rams worried about Mason who won't return their calls for months now...
If you cut slack for that excuse, then you have to cut slack for a diluted sample also...after all, it isn't necessarily a failed test due to substance, but rather water present in the urine... Cutting slack is a slippery slope.
Agree with Irish. "Oh, I was out of the country and couldn't get to a recognized testing lab." "My cell phone died and I didn't realize it." "I was in the Belgian Congo and they didn't have coverage."
I wonder how many players had their vacation time ruined by a drug call. Sorry kids we just got here but we are leaving Disney Land. Oh you can't go on a safari because we won't be able to test you.
Boo Hoo. They should think about this kind of shit BEFORE they smoke weed or ingest a banned substance when they know it could land them in routine testing.
I'm talking about any player. I think they can be tested like 6 times an offseason without being in the drug program.
The rules for routine testing prior to the start of the season do not share the contact and report for testing rules for those in the banned substance protocol.
if they did hair tests that can't be masked, then you would have 52 shaved football players. bring back otis sistrunk
Buffalo Bills sign Reggie Bush to one-year deal The next phase of Reggie Bush's career will take place in Buffalo. Bush signed a one-year, incentive-laden contract with the Buffalo Bills, a source with knowledge of the deal told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. Bush visited the team and passed his physical Monday, Rapoport added, and he'll likely practice with the team Tuesday. The Bills later confirmed the signing. Coach Rex Ryan, always a fan of piling on talented veterans, couldn't resist the temptation to sign the former Heisman Trophy winner. Bush, who recently turned 31, made it through five games last year in San Francisco, rushing eight times for 28 yards. With workhorse Karlos Williams suspended for the first four games of the season and LeSean McCoy expected to get limited reps in training camp after battling ankle issues during minicamp, the Bills needed a versatile running back to get them through the summer months and early fall. The move makes sense assuming Bush can get the Bills to the point where Williams is back, in-shape and healthy. While their offense stars the likes of Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins, there's no question that the ground game is the lifeblood of Buffalo's offense.
No timetable for Tyrone Crawford's (back) return Summer hasn't been kind for the Dallas Cowboys' defensive line. Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford has a back injury and won't be available for the team's first day of practice in full pads, Dallas coach Jason Garrett told reporters Monday. Crawford underwent an MRI on his back and there's no timetable for his return, Garrett said. Garrett added that back issues have plagued Crawford in the past but the issue has flared up again. Starting all 16 games last season, Crawford registered 35 tackles and five sacks. Crawford's injury is a harsh sting for the Cowboys in the wake of defensive end Demarcus Lawrence's four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy and Randy Gregory's suspension for the same offense. Gregory, however, is facing an additional suspension and has enrolled into a treatment program. The decimated Dallas D-line will also currently is without the services of defensive end Benson Mayowa, who had offseason knee surgery, and rookie defensive tackle Maliek Collins. Mayowa is expected to be back before training camp is over. Collins broke his foot during the last week of OTAs and is expected to miss camp.
Players not in the program can only be tested one time a year. That period begins sometime in April around the time OTAs begin (this year was April 20th) and at the beginning of preseason... Once preseason starts, the substance abuse testing stops for those who are not in the protocol.
