That Drew Pearson catch still haunts me after all these years... it was crushing.

Unfortunately there are still players from the 70's that should be in Too tall Jones, LC Greenwood, Waters and Harris from the Cowboys. Some Chargers players that are still not there

If it was an illegal hit why wasn't he fined?

  7. If it was an illegal hit why wasn't he fined?

Beach because there was no penalty flag on the play.......... correct ???

    No.

Not being flagged on a play does not make anyone immune from league legal action. (A fine is legal action by the league.)

The league has a history of not wanting to admit anything that would have affected the outcome of a game. They sided with Clowney when he took a dirty shot on Wentz. He doesn't do that then Eagles probably win as he was out early and they almost held on with grandpa at QB. Fining the player admits they missed it.

That’s the reason. The NFL is watching out for the NFL. But it’s not because there was no flag.

I was responding to the logical dissonance.

I don’t know, but re-watch it yourself and tell me that’s not helmet initiated contact.

I’ve seen guys this season ejected for hits just like it. In college for sure, if not both leagues.

That hit happens 10x a game.

Close. A lot of them, I find, are more of the “did that land on a player’s head or shoulder pad/chest?” variety.

To me, this one is less about where Higgins got hit, and more about the fact the tackler clearly went crown of helmet first into Higgins.
Two things that helped him here were the angle, which in real time I didn’t immediately notice for sure, and the fact Higgins showed zero signs of being shaken up. Had he looked dazed I think they immediately consider a flag.

Anyways I know it’s not the only call that got missed all year. But it is the only one that caused a 7 point swing in a playoff game against the team that went on to lose. Would they have lost anyways? Maybe. But that play did shift some momentum away from them. So it’s unfortunate.

Jaguars announce Urban Meyer’s first coaching staff

When Urban Meyer held his introductory press conference in January, he emphasized the importance of hiring a top-notch coaching staff.

Jacksonville has now completed that process, releasing the list of the 31-member staff on Thursday.

As previously reported, Darrell Bevell is the team’s offensive coordinator, Joe Cullen is the defensive coordinator, Brian Schneider is the special teams coordinator, and Brian Schottenheimer is the passing game coordinator. Charlie Strong is Jacksonville’s assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach.

Meyer retained five members of the previous coaching staff in offensive line coach George Warhop, cornerbacks coach Tim Walton, nickels defensive backs coach Joe Danna, assistant linebackers coach Tony Gilbert, and assistant strength coach Cedric Scott.

Elsewhere on offense Jacksonville named Sanjay Lal wide receivers coach, Tyler Bowen tight ends coach, Bernie Parmalee running backs coach, Todd Washington assistant offensive line coach, Quinton Ganther offensive quality control, and Will Harriger offensive assistant.

On defense, the Jaguars hired defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi, outside linebackers coach Zach Orr, safeties coach Chris Ash, assistant linebackers coach Tony Gilbert, assistant defensive line coach Sterling Lucas, defensive quality control coach Patrick Reilly, and senior defensive assistant Bob Sutton.

Carlos Polk is Jacksonville’s assistant special teams coach.

Meyer’s group also includes Chris Doyle as director of sports performance, who last June received a $1.1 million separation agreement from Iowa after allegations he made racist and belittling comments to players. Per the Associated Press, Doyle denied any “unethical behavior or bias” based on race.

The entered the world together. They’re leaving the football world together, too.

Long-time NFL centers Maurkice and Mike Pouncey are retiring from the NFL.

Maurkice was a first-round pick of the Steelers in 2010. He’s a three-time first-team All-Pro and a nine-time Pro Bowler. The Dolphins made Mike Pouncey a first-round pick in 2011. He spent seven years in Miami and three with the Chargers, making it to the Pro Bowl four times.

Maurkice’s departure leaves a huge hole in the middle of the offensive line for the Steelers. It also could be a factor in whether quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who has indicated a desire to play for the Steelers again in 2021, actually does.

J.J. Watt: Texans and I have mutually agreed to part ways

J.J. Watt has been one of the faces of the Texans since he was drafted in 2011.

He’ll be playing for a different team in 2021.

Watt asked for and was granted his release from the franchise, the three-time defensive player of the year said in a video posted to social media on Friday morning.

“I have sat down with the McNair family and I have asked for my release, and we have mutually agreed to part ways at this time,” Watt said in the video. “I came here 10 years ago as a kid from Wisconsin who had never really been to Texas before. And now I can’t imagine my life without Texas in it. The way that you guys have treated me — besides draft night, I mean, you guys booed me on draft night — but every day after that, you treated me like family. And I truly feel like you’re my family. Since that day, I have tried to do everything in my power to work and earn your respect, and try and make you proud on and off the field. You guys have given me everything and more, and I can only hope that you feel like I’ve given you everything I have.”

Watt noted he met his wife in Houston and made lifelong friends with teammates. He also credited those behind the scenes in the organization and the fans in public for their support.

“The connection is special,” Watt said. “And I will never, ever take that for granted because I know how rare that is.”

Watt got through the full 2020 season healthy, recording 5.0 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hits, seven passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and an interception. Watt hasn’t reached double-digit sacks since 2018, when he recorded 16.0. But he can still be effective and should have a solid market for his services in 2021. He’ll turn 32 on March 22.

“I’m excited and looking forward to a new opportunity. And I’ve been working extremely hard,” Watt said. “But at the same time, it is always tough to move on.”

Watt leaves the Texans after 128 starts, 101.0 sacks, 172 tackles for loss, 282 quarterback hits, 25 forced fumbles, 16 fumble recoveries and a pair of pick sixes.

I think we don't see these hits in real time because they are so common. Running backs take them all the time. If Higgins doesn't fumble I bet it's never mentioned.

So really random here, but is anyone else as surprised as I was just yesterday that Cris Collinsworth basically owns ProFootballFocus?

One of those how the hell didn’t I know that sort of deals. Not recent either. I found it interesting and think he might prove to be a genius for that purchase
