I think that the Bengals organization should go after Tannehill and draft Chase Young. Then draft Jonathan Taylor or D'Andre Smith. I think Joe Burrow is starting to get fed cancer and will continue to grow into a cancer with who he surrounded himself with.
Nice idea. But Tannehill won’t be available. Plus, since everyone’s so thrilled with Joe Mixon, why target J.Taylor? To me he’s the closest clone to Mixon out of say the top 6-7 rated RBs.
P.S. No offence intended, but if he’s a cancer, aren’t the Bengals one of the 3 best fits in the league? Dallas, Cincy, and I don’t know...Cleveland.
To bring in cancerous players would be counterproductive to what Cincinnati fans ultimately want to achieve and that is making it a city that players want to come to. 90% of the fans want Mike Brown and Katy Blackburn out. 10% are other too drunk, children, or members of the Brown family. So why bring in what you are trying to rid yourself of.
Washington either wants Tua at No. 2, or wants Miami to think so The Dolphins are believed to want former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and there’s been talk that they would trade up from No. 5 overall to No. 3 to draft him. But for Tua to go to Miami at No. 2, he’d have to get passed over by Cincinnati at No. 1 and Washington at No. 2. And that may not happen. The Bengals are expected to take LSU quarterback Joe Burrow first overall, and then most mock drafts have Washington taking Ohio State defensive end Chase Young. But someone is putting out word that Washington wants to take Tagovailoa at No. 2. A source told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that Washington met with Tagovailoa at the Combine and told him he may be drafted to compete with second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins. “They felt like Dwayne was not the guy right now,” the source said. “They want to bring in Tua, just get it going and compete.” It’s convenient that this source with knowledge of Washington’s plans chose a Miami newspaper to leak those thoughts to. It may be that Washington wants Miami to think that Tagovailoa won’t be there at No. 3, which would result in the Dolphins sending a bounty of draft picks to Washington to draft Tagovailoa at No. 2. If the Dolphins want to trade up for a franchise quarterback, trading up to No. 3 may not get it done. NBC _________ __________________ Haskins must be pissed/worried if this is more than a rumor. Some real interesting possibilities to keep an eye on.
Patriots get league-high four compensatory picks, including two third-rounders The NFL announced the 32 compensatory picks, which were awarded to 15 teams. The Patriots have a league-high and league-maximum of four — two third-round choices and two sixth-round selections. New England lost Malcom Brown, Trent Brown, Trey Flowers, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson, Eric Rowe and LaAdrian Waddle. It added Brandon Bolden. The Broncos, Texans, Vikings, Giants, Eagles and Seahawks earned three extra picks. The Ravens and Dolphins will have two compensatory choices. The Bears, Cowboys, Rams, Steelers, Bucs and Washington received one each. The Texans received the highest third-round choice, No. 97 overall, followed by the Patriots (No. 98), Giants (No. 99), Patriots (No. 100), Seahawks (No. 101), Steelers (No. 102), Eagles (No. 103), Rams (No. 104), Vikings (No. 105) and Ravens (No. 106). The fourth-round choices went to the Bucs (No. 139), Bears (No. 14), Dolphins (No. 141), Washington (No. 142), Ravens (No. 143), Seahawks (No. 144), Eagles (No. 145) and Eagles (No. 146). The fifth-rounders went to the Broncos (No. 178) and Cowboys (No. 179). The sixth-round choices went to the Patriots (No. 212), Patriots (No. 213) and Seahawks (No. 214). The seventh-rounders went to the Giants (No. 247), Texans (No. 248), Vikings (No. 249), Texans (No. 250), Dolphins (No. 251), Broncos (No. 252), Vikings (No. 253), Broncos (No. 254) and Giants (No. 255). Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents (CFA) than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. CFAs are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council and not every free agent lost or signed is covered by the formula. The compensatory picks are positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost. NBC
The compensatory pick system is and has been broken. It doesn't help achieve the goal of parity - rather, the opposite. Would very much love to see it reformed.
How so? I mean I agree it does not achieve parity, but only because some GMs know what they’re doing while others don’t. The theory behind it is fairly sound. They could add a dynamic I suppose for how steeply a “quality” FAs play drops off after a shitty team overpays him and his weaknesses stop getting covered up by the schemes a good team would run.
FTR I always picture the average players New England lets walk in these discussions (Solder/Trent Brown)
With many teams opting to do the smart and prudent and responsible thing in these troubled times by shutting down their facilities and their travel and their pre-draft visits, the Dolphins are saying, “Damn the corona, full speed ahead.” Ian Rapoport of the NFL reports that the Dolphins are hosting Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins at the team facility in South Florida. Rapoport, whose media outlet is partially owned by the Dolphins, contends that the Dolphins are “proceeding with extreme caution.” But that’s simply not true. The only “extreme caution” currently to be exercised is to not allow a player to travel to Miami and to not allow a delegation to come to the facility and meet with him. So why are the Dolphins doing it? Because they can. Because others aren’t, and because there’s a strategic benefit to be derived by gathering more information at a time when others have chosen not to. Because, ultimately, the NFL has failed to show leadership by directing the 32 teams to stop travel, to cancel pre-draft visits, and to shut down their facilities. NBC
Looks like we're all about to have some time off... I think a pre-free agency Mock Draft is in order @LAOJoe @Tim @RTTRUTH @TopDawg
lol! sounds good... I just wish we could get 32 mofo's that are as dedicated to this thing as I am. It would be a TON of fun, and MUCH more of a challenge.
He’s talking about a mock separate from the GMO. They just canceled school here for the next two weeks so my schedule got flipped on its head. I doubt we’ll do any mocks before free agency kicks off.
