Trevor Lawrence declares for 2021 NFL Draft Next stop, Jacksonville? What was long expected has come to pass, as Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft. In a video posted on social media, Lawrence thanked his college coaches, teammates, and fans for their support in his three years at the university. “I’ll look back at these three years and have the best memories,” Lawrence said. “I really feel like I’m a man now and I’m ready to take on those challenges. Just super excited for life ahead. The best is always yet to come, but I’m grateful for Clemson and I’m going to miss it.” Lawrence’s collegiate career didn’t finish as he would’ve liked, with Clemson falling to Ohio State on 49-28 last week. But he still ended the 2020 season having completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 3,153 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He was the Heisman Trophy runner up to Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Lawrence has long been the presumable No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft. We’ll see if the Jaguars new General Manager and head coach make that a reality in a few months. NBC
Did Justin Fields just set back Trevor Lawrence's #1 draft rating... maybe combined with DeVonta Smith's WR performance for Bama and lets not forget, Mac Jones (QB)? Jags should take Lawrence........Jets should take Fields..........will the Dolphins take Smith or Trade # 3 pick ???
Travis Etienne declares for draft Clemson running back Travis Etienne surprised many people when he opted to return to school for the 2020 season, but he doesn’t have any shockers up his sleeve this time around. Thanks to the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to all football players, Etienne was eligible to go back to school in 2021. On Friday, he announced that he won’t be doing that and will be entering the NFL draft. Etienne leaves Clemson as the ACC’s career leader in rushing yards with 4,952, rushing touchdowns with 70, and total touchdowns with 78. He ran 168 times for 914 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 48 passes for 588 yards and two touchdowns this season. That production has led many to rank Etienne as the top running back in this year’s draft class and we’ll find out how high he goes in April. NBC
Read a report yesterday that said the Seahawks wanted to talk to him about their OC position. I don't understand the NFL's fascination with this guy.
Everyone that hires him is looking for that 2013 magic without taking those circumstances into consideration.
That sucks....I'm not gonna lie, in my evaluations, I rely on the Combine quite a bit. I wonder if they'll publish a list of who "would've" been invited if the event were to take place. lol! Probably not.
The following are the 'Accepted Invites' for the Reese's Senior Bowl - The offensive side of things as they stand right now. QB
For those of you who are dynasty drafters, and want to get too caught up in the performances at this game, I offer you two names. Zay Jones, and Isaiah Pead. Let that be a warning to you, and your third just for fun; Christian ponder
Zay graded our well prior to this game and confirmed his fluidity at the combine. He’s a better example of how important the in person interview process is.
That too. And I certainly don’t remember Mike Mayock hinting anything about character issues with him. That incident in the hotel came as quite the surprise for me
I just meant he blew up the senior bowl week, probably got overdrafted, at least a bit. Perhaps the better lesson with him aside from the interview process is that you would like to see players play against a higher level of competition, since he came from a small school, East Carolina if I recall
I’m not ready to buy that is prudent to be leery of smaller school prospects. Jerry Rice, and that WR currently on the Rams are just two that came to my mind as I wrote this. Don Beebe is another. I think Zay Jones just lacked the mental rigor required to excel at the NFL level. I wish the Bills had grilled him a bit more. (Although at the time, I liked the pick.)
Well regardless of all that, I’m still excited for the game this weekend. I am especially looking forward to watching the running backs, O-line, and defensive line. I just like to see which guys from that group step up in these games. Interesting group of quarterbacks there this year too. I hope Sam Ehlinger does pretty well, I kind of like the kid’s moxie if nothing else
