Congrats! Was a terrifying game, lol. Buckeyes, 11-1, only loss to the #3 team in the Nation and probably wont make the CFP. Hope Im wrong.
We inevitably now turn to the question of whether or not they make it into the college football playoffs. If there are four unbeatens left at the end of the year - Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and FSU - then I think it's a simple 'no'. That said, if any of them lose a game between now and then, there's a debate to be had. If Alabama beats Georgia, or if Texas ends the season with only one loss, they'll both have potential claims over Ohio State to a spot as well. That said, I hate the NCAA and this is all subjective bullshit about how to make them the most money. So they can fuck right off. I also would like to see FSU left at home, if at all possible.
Well, there you have it... #2 Buckeyes lose by 1 score on the road at #3 Michigan and drop 4 spots, while other 12-0 teams played unranked teams and a couple just squeaked by them. Guess I'll wait and see what happens when Oregon plays Washington and I'll be a big Hawkeye fan this week also. Yep, Im a 'homer', but who isnt? I thought 'strength of schedule' was important, guess not.
Washington and Oregon should be fun. The Texas game and the UGA - ALA game are going to be worth watching. It boggles my mind that Iowa is at 16 after the year they've had, but here we are. Michigan should walk over them. Lousiville has eaten up a bad ACC this year (as has FSU, but I digress) - that'll be interesting to watch if only because of the injury issues FSU is having. Texas needs to win convincingly if they want a shot at a playoff spot, just in case FSU and UGA falter. Ohio State needs pretty much every team above and around them to lose, at this point, I'd imagine.
There are a lot of Buckeye "fans" clamoring for Ryan Day to be fired. (I'm not one of them.) IF Ohio State is dumb enough to accommodate them, my bold prediction is that the next Head Coach of the Buckeyes will be Brian Hartline.
Thats interesting. Ive heard the same reports about Day... I like Day, but the 0-3 record vs Michigan isnt setting well with a bunch. The Day and Hartline combo is great, in my opinion and Im not one clamoring for his firing. He just better solve the 'Blue' dilemma.
Defense certainly started the game doing their thing. Some really impressive downs one after the other. We'll see if they can keep Oregon under wraps in the second half.
