There are few Ohio State fans like Will, who are willing to see the fault in the coach, separate of their love for the program...

I'm not defending anyone to the hilt. All I'm saying is lets see what the hard evidence is before we tar and feather someone simply because some people don't like him.

Yeah, that's not the reason people are reacting the way they are, Lyman, but you know that.

  5. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Its the reason you are. You've gone on record multiple times about your disdain for Urban Meyers.

  6. Catfish Guest

that's not true. i said they have text messages between the 2 wives pointing to the fact that he knew of the 2015 incident. i like Meyer. he's a crook but a damn good coach.

I've only seen a text to the other woman, not Urban's wife...where is the text to his wife?

It's pretty insulting that you think I'd be calling for his dismissal strictly because I didn't like him, and not because of this instance of knowing and lying about spousal abuse going on in his program. Also, it's a mischaracterization to say I "don't like him" - I do think he's a scumbag, but I base it purely on his well-established track record of being a scumbag. It's not petty disdain - it's a principled opposition to the facts of who he is, what he's done, and what he does and doesn't stand for.

If you want facts, Lyman, there are more than enough in Urban Meyer's history to judge him and his character.

this is the wife of one of Meyer's closest friends and he's OSU's Director of Football Operations. Hard to believe his wife wouldn't tell him what is going on ?

At first i thought this was Shelley Meyer, it's not. Still pretty bad though.

Yes there are text from his wife (Shelly) and the victim (Courtney) where she says she has to tell Urban that doesn't mean that she did though. Wives and Husbands do not always tell each other every thing. Playing devils advocate I can see her (Shelly) reaching out to someone before she told Urban (a sister, another female friend, an assistant coach etc) and them telling her Shelly dont tell Urban its best if he doesn't know.

  12. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Yeah, I think Urban's history precludes that benefit of the doubt.

  13. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

That's not necessarily true... what if this one tome Urban is telling the truth? Should the past dictate the future?

  14. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

In order for Urban to be given the benefit of the doubt with regards to his mishandling of behavioral and disciplinary issues within his program, it would have to be established that he's learned and changed. His time at Ohio State provides no indication of that.

If OJ went to trial for another alleged murder, you don't think his past would play a factor? We can't isolate incidents from earlier behavior when that individual has displayed continuous, egregious violations specific to that incident / behavior - especially not because it's just particularly convenient to do it, now.

What you state is true, BUT, what if, like I said, Urban is innocent, wouldn't the outcome meet the fair grade? Its possible he knew, its also possible he didn't, so, I await hard core evidence. I just hope the 'truth' prevails.

Like I said, sorta, if he is guilty, hang him high, if not, I hope justice will be kind to him.

  16. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Other than some inconsistencies in handing out discipline, please elaborate on Urban's egregious behavior while at Ohio State.

Forget Ohio State. What were these egregious violations anywhere? Tell me where he failed to do specifically what he was paid to do.

I think we are all missing an important point here...

We are talking about a Wide Receivers coach..not a coordinator or anything. Why on God's green earth would Urban Meyer protect an abuser at such an easily replaceable position? I have to give him the benefit of the doubt until some real evidence is brought to the forefront. As for the coach himself, he needs to be immediately fired and banned from ever coaching again if there is any semblance of a report about the abuse. I do question were any charges brought against him? The wife felt safe enough to leave him and get a divorce, but she didn't ask the DA to prosecute him? That is suspicious in and of itself. Many abused cannot get away from their abusers, but those that are strong enough to, usually press charges. I am in no way suggesting she wasn't abused, what I am asking is what are the specific circumstances? Did she attack him and he grabbed her arms to protect himself? Did he get drunk and cold cock her? Did she get drunk and he cold cocked her? Did he push her into a wall? Did she come at him and he deflected her and she fell?

Too many unanswered questions to pass judgement here...especially on a bystander in the whole ordeal.

I don't know, Irish. Whether its a WR coach or the water boy it doesn't matter to me. The allegation is, did Urban know and turn a blind eye.

But, until there's evidence gathered, sorted through and totaled, im not condemning him. Im hoping he wasn't that stupid.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I agree...my point was, why would he turn a blind eye on a situation that so obviously could bring down the program? If he were protecting someone more important then shame on him and the program...but, it just becomes harder to understand why he would protect a WR coach.

There have been reports that it's obvious SHE is telling the truth, but all there is, is a text to another woman discussing the past and mostly custody issues. I can state from personal experience, custody issues are intense. Not physically, but mentally intense. The women have all the power when it comes to decisions made about children and if she is anything like my ex, she uses everything to her advantage, to leverage herself. Again, I don't know this woman and am not accusing her of anything..the point is, we don't know the situation at all, except for an interview that has emerged from her. I haven't even seen the interview, has anyone else here?

I don't have a lot of time, so I'll just point to the obvious:

Those who call into question whether or not a woman was actually abused, despite supporting history and evidence, in order to defend a coach who has consistently shown proven lack of character and decent judgement... well, those people are now Ohio State fans. Most, anyway. Congrats.
