I have to laugh as just a few weeks ago there were silly people who wanted and did put Miami above Clemson because of their beat down of ND. I said it was crazy and stupid then and now its obvious I was right. It would also be crazy and stupid to not put Alabama in the four. Yes they lost late but if you want the 4 best teams in the final 4 then you but Bama in just my humble opinion.
Sorry but Ohio states loss to Iowa undoes anything positive they did IMHO (and actually a lot of other peoples as well lol)
It's a pretty split opinion but basicly Ohio State actually proved they can get the big wins, Alabama maybe just has LSU but couldn't get it done vs Auburn. Ironically it's the same situation Alabama fans were chirping Wisconsin about today if they lost to Ohio State. Ohio State's win profile is so far ahead of Alabama that along with that conference title, I beleive it is enough to overcome the loss to Iowa, who in their own right isn't that bad a team (maybe top 30).
The Hawkeyes also took Penn State to the wire and defeated Iowa State on their way to a 7–5 finish. So, I agree with, Joe. Iowa is not a totally bad football team. I think the wins and what you have done lately are the most important things. The Buckeyes won the B1G Conference, that's huge also.
How about this one? Wisconsin nowhere near a playoff right? Well the only real difference between them and Alabama is that Alabama beat Mississippi State. It's clearly a better resume but it isn't impressive.
The committee just told every school out there that your image and record matter way more so make sure you schedule cupcakes and lose less games than actually win games vs better opponents.
The Committee blew it big time. 2 SEC teams in and the B1G has 2 finishing out at 5 & 6. Totally agree, Joe. You can throw strength of schedule, Conference Championships and everything that should count, right out the window. Hey everybody, its Clemson and Bama, again! Oh Boy!
This isn't about Bama. This will likely forever be known as the day that killed good out of conference matchups. Teams will know their record matters more than any advantage from a win and won't take the risk.
Well, Joe... when they sat down this morning and looked at the stats, they saw the same things you and I saw and all the sports talking heads and still came up with Bama... the second SEC team chosen and with a sub-par list of reasons and stats that count. In my opinion it was biased towards Bama. I think its also a combination of both Bama love and no regard about the stats that truly matter. Anyway, its done and I will move on (smh). Maybe the outcry if there is any will force a change to implement stricter sets of values in determining the top 4.
The only change that would come would be adding more teams to the playoff. Ohio state got in last year under very similar circumstances so why there is surprise is beyond me. No a 7-5 team is not always a bad team but when you loose by as many as ohio state did then you loose a lot of the argument to be one of the best 4 teams. Yeah part of it is based on who Bama is but when you build the reputation you get to reap the benifits. Of course it would have been nice to see ohio state get destroyed by Clemson again.
