SMU v Navy: SMU blocks a PAT and returns it for a safety to make it 13-5. First time an opponent blocked an extra point and returned it for 2 points since ...
SMU did it to Navy in back 1995.

Its a good thing they put the name 'Maryland' on the back of their helmets or nobody would know wtf school that was. Helmets look like acid art.

Michigan up on the Terps, 35-10.

I think that's their state flag on the helmets. Weird... and a bit hideous.

yeah i don't know who could've beaten the canes that night. the crowd was insane and miami played with speed like Alabama does. ND giving them 3 TDs didn't help matters. Brian Kelly once again comes up very small when it matters most. Bad play calling and execution by his team. Heisman hopeful - Josh Adams looked like he never played RB in his life and couldn't find a hole due to the swarming D of Miami. His Heisman campaign is over. Kelly can't beat a top 10 team.

I watched Miami play and barely beat UNC. If you put pressure on their QB he was shaky. ND didn't do that. Their first TD was a brilliant pass and then ND just gave them scores with turnovers and interceptions for TDs. I thought the whole U-chain thing was ridiculous for ABC to keep showing. I thought it was ridiculous of a grown man - the 1 Miami coach in a beard to put the chain on a Miami player. How old is this guy? Really pal? When did you play? Did you ever play? Childish. To keep showing it was classless. Miami is not part of the ABC network! It's suppose to be a neutral broadcast. Far from it. You wouldn't see that crap at South Bend.

If I was ND, i would stop playing Miami at a neutral site like Chicago and Texas. Screw that. Come to South Bend and play. They did last year, but in previous years, it was in Chicago and I think Texas. You saw what home field advantage does.

These rankings are the most messed up yet.
Clemson is overrated. It should be #4 at best. Oklahoma is definitely better too.

it's far from a perfect system, but until they go 8 teams in a playoff it is what it is sadly.

It's not about being a perfect system. It's a corrupt system. Every week they contradict themselves with their explanations as well.

I agree with, Joe. They cant get a 4 team system right, let alone an 8. Right now they are making decisions that are baffling and out-rite wrong and their are no checks and balances or a standard in place to correct them or at least guide them in a fair manor. Its messed up.

Kirby Hocutt, the athletic director at Texas Tech, is the man in charge, just to expose him here. How the hell does Miami jump from 7th to 3rd? Miami has not even had a road win against a winning team.

This actually can all work out fairly if the right circumstances take place over the next couple weeks, but with the precedent set by the committee so far, I doubt they get it right.

Really? Big jumps can happen and should happen when important results come by. If anything Miami is too low. Georgia was #1 because they had the clear #1 victory in the country by beating ND and were undefeated. They then dropped to #7 because they lost a game and their Notre Dame victory took a hit when the Irish lost again. Suddenly a team like Oklahoma has a way better profile. So that is a big drop.

Now why can't Miami get a big boost for destroying Notre Dame? Yes there isn't a big road victory but they are undefeated and that is hard. Also in football there are less games and less chances for good road wins. Florida State and UNC sucked for instance. You can't give them a big knock for that. It's more important to look at their best win despite location. They destroyed Notre Dame. That goes beyond a 3-point home bump. Also beating a great team is more important than beating a few team barely over 500. Look this beat many teams just over 500. And the committee gives them a bump for those wins? "Oh look at all those wins above 500". If you are realistic you should only look at great wins and losses, mainly bad losses. Georgia was allowed a big bump up for beating nobody but Notre Dame barely, Miami destroyed them. Now some stuff will work itself out but it won't always will.

Now forget Miami. Look at Oklahoma and Clemson.

    Clemson
    9-1
    Lost to 4-6 Syracuse

    Oklahoma
    9-1
    Lost to 6-4 Iowa State

    Clemson beat
    8-2 Auburn (home)
    7-3 Virginia Tech (away)
    7-3 NC State (away)

    Oklahoma beat
    8-2 Ohio State (away)
    8-2 Oklahoma State (away)
    8-2 TCU (home)

Oklahoma's resume is VASTLY superior. However what did the committee reward Clemson on? Having 1 more 500+ win by beating 5-4 Georgia Tech.

They can and will look at data in the weirdest ways and it's gotta be because they are idiots, to fill an agenda, or both.
