I don't think very well at all. Im just reading the blogs though and you know how some of those get, they live and die by day by day info. I guess the Eagles just lost the National Title when Milano left. Ive also heard that it doesn't even matter because the other teams won't be able to score anyway. Union didn't get the memo last year I guess. hope you enjoy igloo.
I was looking up a story about Overhardt but couldn't find the one I was looking for with potential clients in the NCAA. I did find this from about 6 years ago, I thought it was interesting and applies to some of the trends and opinions that have been solidified since the time it was written. http://www.usahockeymagazine.com/article/2008-10/robbing-cradle
Andrew Raycroft joins the UConn staff as a volunteer goalie coach. http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...nhl-goaltender-andrew-raycroft-mike-cavanaugh
good article bob. the early commitments are terrible, no doubt about it. Seems like a necessity if NCAA wants to compete w/ CHL though.
...to remain the circus sideshow of endless bullshit that it is the fake amateurism of the NCAA. Sorry, voices took over, but I didn't exactly try to stop them. I was reading up on NCAA reqs as it applies to NHL draftees. The rules cover all sports, nothing really unique about NCAA when comparing football to hockey, but the rules of the NFL or NHL seem to work around NCAA rules. If a family doesn't have connections or money to burn, I would think the CHL is the better route for a player on a long timeline for development. NHL teams aren't allowed to pay for camps, or travel for camps. The overwhelming majority of the costs have to come from the player. I'm guessing this is what will keep the USHL's growth steady and strong. A kid doesn't have to pick Canadian jrs or the NCAA in their sophomore year of high school. Damn it, now I just thought of something else. I'm not sure of all the differences between eligibility reqs for the CHL and the USHL, and both have been mulling substantial changes in some areas. Time for more homework.
the NCAA is a sham, no fight from me on that. said player is out of the CHL at 20 (I think) at the oldest, in college hockey they can stay for years after that. Long term development project type players might not be ready by then and get lost in the AHL/ECHL shuffle. Sucks for players to have to pay their own way to development camps and its not right but I have a feeling that many of those players are helped out here by advisors.
Most recently, the NCAA membership voted to give schools in the so-called "Big Five" conferences more autonomy on creating their own rules in 11 key areas. The areas include things like extended financial aid, insurance, paid travel for families, and allowing players to make money from things not directly related to playing...........As it relates to hockey, the "Big Five" includes the entire "Big 10" (which has six teams in hockey as 12 teams otherwise ? you following this?). Otherwise, the only schools affected are Boston College and Notre Dame, which both play in Hockey East. doesn't seem very fair hockey-wise. and the NCAA hypocrites are going to continue to claim that CHL players are "professional"? http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2014/08/28_where_are_we_headed.php
i agree. if the ncaa loosens up on the rules as indicated in the article, then they are, by default, not much different than the CHL. it would be hypocrisy.
I've been following that NCAA story, bigger implications for football obviously but it will have a huge impact on the NCAA hockey programs. You can bet the NHL is kicking the tires when it comes to letting them participate in more NHL/prospect related events than they already commit to. I just hope they make some of the major changes quickly, before it tuns into what NCAA BB is or what NCAA football has become.
absolutely frank. it would be great for NCAA hockey to be able to poach CHL kids in return. hope these changes come soon too bob. seems like it will but I would've said the same thing a couple years ago and I feel like the NCAA is in the same spot.
was thinking about putting this in the Ditch but Casey DeSmith doesn't even deserve to be tossed in a deep ditch, he deserves far worse than that. Im assuming that his indefinite suspension will turn in to being thrown off the team and his professional prospects will be severely limited. http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/college-goalie-arrested-for-domestic-assault-and-resisting-arrest/
Wisconsin with most Cup winning alums in NHL history. You may notice that the players listed didn't really start regularly winning Cups until the 90s and has progressed since. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bob-Herpen/Stanley-Cup-winners-from-Division-I-hockey/208/62218
Wow, a good reason to click on hockeybuzz. I wasn't expecting that. I may have to pay more attention to those knuckleheads if they're going to put more of that stuff together.
they left out D2/3 hockey. the fact that D2 hockey even exists is such a joke. i lived it but that's a story for another day. Off the top of my head I know Keith Aucoin (Norwich) was on the Carolina roster when they won it. He's from Waltham (Shawn Mceachern, Jeff Lazaro) and then Chelmsford (Jack Eichel and some other a-holes Im sure).
phew, I'm glad you found some holes in it quickly. I was worryied they might have checked their work.
lol, didn't see that coming wow, 34 women's hockey teams. I wasn't expecting so many. No wonder they give Canada a run for their money. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/icehockey-women/nc
those damn Canadian broads taking hard working American scholarships. CLOSE THE BORDER! get Cartman up there.
