Some UDFA names: Drake Caggiula Troy Stetcher Andrew Poturalski Alex Lyon (jr, goalie) Mike Vecchione Tanev's brother Brandon Nick Saracino Casey Nelson Nick Lappin Mike Borkowski There have been a bunch of HE players mentioned getting pro interest, but those are the only names I've seen mentioned multiple times.
Miles Wood? he's a freshman. an old, old, old freshman. i think he's got another year or two. Adam Gilmour might be on this list but Im not real confident that he'll be anything more than an AHLer. Mike Vecchione is really solid, I like him a lot. he can slide up and down a lineup and plays hard every night. have you seen any of those other guys on that list of UDFAs?
I saw the UND guys (while watching Schmaltz), and Casey Nelson (was a camp invite last year for the Slimballs' favorite team). I watched games with the other players in it, but I didn't notice them specifically. I can't scout NCAA players worth a damn. I usually make my opinion when they beat another NHL prospect or get lit up by them. For example, I used to like Johns, but his senior year I kept seeing him get beat by drafted wings to the inside or outside. I wasn't high on Paliotta, but then I saw him beat a bunch of drafted wings in battles and positioning. I've watched the least amount of NCAA in the past 5 years this season. Because of high profile games in Chicago, outdoor NCAA games, the lockout, etc. I was able to dive into the NCAA programs a little more. I think the problem has been that the more I learned about the NCAA programs, the more I realize they're identical (collectively) to football or basketball in how they do business, really turns me off. I've found it more difficult to really get into this season for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I still want NHL talent to go the NCAA route, I just hate the system.
When I say "hate", I really mean hate. Can't read 3 consecutive NCAA stories without a reminder of something really slimy.
you should hear the real story. a wolf bit his eye out when he was trying to hand over a suitcase full of cash in Oshkosh Manitoba.
not sure what or which infraction that you're talking about?..which speaks to your point. i wish this BU gambling thing would get legs.
I'm going to catch the first round of the NCHC championship tourney at the Univ. of Denver this weekend. Isn't one of your boys skating for DU, Matty? Who else should I scout? (Don't what teams I'll see yet.)
nice Dan. Denver has had a really strong finish to the season, they haven't lost in a long time. DU has Nebraska Omaha this weekend. They actually just swept their last regular season weekend series against them too. for Denver Id be real interested in freshman F Dylan Gambrell (42 pts), Bruins pick Danton Heinen (37 pts), and D Will Butcher (Colorado property). I really like Heinen. Haven't watched them this year but I saw 2 of their playoff games last year and they worked the puck around and continual tried cycling it to Heinen for one timers. They had BC chasing their own tail last year.
lol, I forgot about the UMASS gambling busts. I was talking about the dumb partying they were trying to keep quiet (it seemed). http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2015/12/21_bus_roberto_suspended_for.php This is the part that gets me going: They would go a long way in my book if the NCAA just said "fuck off" instead of "no comment". It isn't a legal proceeding, so own your own twisted rule set already. Tell people "we're not going to talk about it" or "it's private" instead. Anyway, it was good to know BU "Immediately" contacted the NCAA. Why did they get rid of Parker. Matty, read the comment section of that link, you'll enjoy it. My favorite was "outhouse on the hill".
"Gutsy reporting boys. Nice scoop. Turned rumors into print." hahahaa. i haven't read it anywhere but was told that Eichel and O'Connor were involved and in a large amount of debt. Outhouse on the Hill is gold.
New Hampshire sophomore forward Andrew Poturalski has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the NHL?s Carolina Hurricanes. ?We are absolutely thrilled for Andrew,? said UNH coach Dick Umile in a statement. ?He has been a tremendous player for us in the two years he has been here and we wish him nothing but the best.? Poturalski will report to Carolina?s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. Currently, Poturalski ranks second in the NCAA in scoring (52 points) on 22 goals and 30 assists in 37 games this season. He finishes his Wildcat career with 81 points on 36 goals and 45 assists in 77 games. http://www.uscho.com/2016/03/08/new...-two-years-signs-with-carolina/#ixzz42N04SiYU
http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/3983386-college-hockey-summer-upheaval I knew it was bad, but I never would have imagined all 60 programs wanted to keep their coaches going into this season.
Umass coach was canned a couple days ago. Maine is a bunch of pussies, I like Red Gendron but they're awful and that school shouldn't accept that.
It's Nebraska-Omaha vs. Denver tonight at the Magness Arena. I'll be sporting my spoked-B hat and having some fun.
enjoy the game dan. some interesting stuff tonight after BU and Minn lost last night. i've been having fun watching boeser with schmaltz this year in ND. trevor linden wants demko of BC to move to the pros after this year.
The Denver Pioneers swept the NE-Omaha Mavericks in the NCHC first round after last night's 4-3 win in 2OT. They won all six games against Omaha this season. Omaha was a powerhouse last year, and started this season looking the same, but then the wheels fell completely off. The Mavs have several NHL prospects, and the one that stood out to me was Luc Snuggerud, D, (CHI, 5th, 2014). Jake Guentzel, C, (PIT, 3rd, 13), should make it as a bottom six guy. Denver has fewer NHL prospects than usual for an elite NCAA program. Most are low round picks with limited promise of ever playing in the NHL. An exception is Matty's boy, Danton Heinen, RW, (BOS, 4th/14). He scored a very nifty breakaway and was the player that most resembled an NHLer on the ice. His pivot, Dylan Gambrell probably should have been drafted last year and could go as high as the 5th in June. Denver also has another solid prospective draftee, Blake Hillman, LD; he seems to play even bigger than his listed 6' 1", 185#, and has a bit of the scorer's touch. Unfortunately DU is on spring break so there were a lot of empty seats at Magness Arena and the game lacked the fan intensity that is the best part of college hockey. Still. It was a lot of fun, and I'll make a point of "scouting" them a few times next year.
