Uncle Jerry is 2 wins from 1000 in BC. I wonder if any Broonz fans new this. To me, this is a much less interesting year for NCAA hockey. I'm trying to watch games and/or listen to games, but I usually end up looking for a stream of an AHL game this year at the next intermission. North Dakota fighting green jerseys and the school that starts with a Q are 1 and 2 in the rankings.
2 wins away, hoping it happens against BU next weekend. that would be sweet. gonna be tough though, they're in a tough spot. Thatcher Demko evidently got a concussion in the first game of their Christmas tourney in Florida a couple weeks ago. He felt fine and no one knew about it. Demko plays the next night and gets the win even. On the flight back he had "a real rough time", whatever that means. So I guess he now has vertigo so badly that he's having trouble w/ his balance off ice. The other scholarship G is freshman backup Chris Birdsail. He's been inactive w/ concussion issues all season. When they got back from Fla. they had to enroll a kid that plays for the Jr. Bruins that was slated to come next year as a recruited walk on/3rd stringer. He enrolled in the school and practiced for the first time recently and just got the win against Providence last night. I guess he gave up a brutal goal but just getting the win like that under those circumstances against a team like PC is impressive enough. side note- Bergeron Jr aka Colin White came back and had a hat trick last night.
goalers always have head issues, good thing thatcher didn't hurt his groin. fighting sue still look strong.
you'll notice the time left on the clock. OSU scored on a draw w/ seconds remaining and then won in a SO. FU Mighigan, thats what you get. in other NCAA news, Ian McCoshen continues to be the best college player/NHL prospect you've probably never heard of.
matty's faves get some. actually I believe matty haterizes the wolverines moar than quinnefuckfuck
so dirty to hit the guy w/ the ref holding him down. NCAA doesn't like punches in general, this is a next level punch. hopefully a decent punishment on the way. I'm no Michigan fan but they're nothing next to BU. gotta respect Red Berenson.
it did take a while but I'll take 2-0-2 against BU and this version of PC. I was too lazy to make the trip to Amherst last night and it's not like it was a celebration or anything. no one likes the spotlight less than uncle Jerry. ho hum, Beanpot around the bend, Dan and I gonna watch the finals.
Three words that I am going to especially enjoy hearing this year: Bean Pot Tourney. Stomp Hahvahd! (Except for the Sabres' boy on that squad.)
tonight is JY night at BC. everyone seems to be really excited about it other than Jerry. "all it is is a nice round number. thats it." Im happily using up two "bullets" (thats what they are when you have a newbie) this weekend w/ Dan taking in the Broonz/Swords game tomorrow and then the Beanpot Title game on Monday. Fuck BU.
Denver really cares about one team - and there are some distractions with them out on the left coast. So there is even less likely we'd hear any discussion of hockey on the local radio. Last night they gave a nice tribute to JY and his accomplishments that ran a few minutes. Goody for him!
great Beanpot final. between the sloppy driving/snowstorm, lights at the TDGilleteBankNorthInsertYerNameHere Garden going out for a good chunk of time, a little college fight in the middle, and then the good guys coming out on top in OT??..?great game and glad a certain Cornell alum was there to see it. to all BU fans, Tuch you.
TUCH U, BU! One more hockey event checked off the bucket list. The Beanpot is all it's built up to be: college hockey and atmosphere at its best.
https://fat.gfycat.com/DeficientMistyCougar.mp4 hard to put your finger on exactly why a player may or may not succeed when moving up a level. i'll be the first to tell you that i'm often wrong. that said???.i think Colin White will be a really good NHL player. He skates really well, he's got decent size and he's exceptionally bright. White is the one that dishes the cross ice pass to little(r) Gaudreau and then makes a B-line and crashes the net starting from inside his own blue line. love how he doesn't pull up at all, it's gonna be the goalies problem and not his. other NCAA stuff- Danton Heinen had 5 pts last night as Denver beat #2 N. Dakota 6-4. #1 Quinnipiac (ya right) also lost last night to St. Lawrence.
Michigan freshman Kyle Connor is leading the NCAA in scoring w/ 54 pts. He's at 1.8/ppg, Eichel was 1.77 last year.
That Michigan team is loaded. Motte, Werenski, Compher, and Connor. They had Larkin and Copp on that roster last year. I saw Michigan a couple times this year. Nothing of note, they were burning down Penn state or somebody. Lots of scoring.
trying to compile a list of NCAA possible UFAs. There are others but I wanted to look at the ones other teams would actually want. Mark Jankowski (Calg- '12- 21st) Teddy Blueger (Pitt- '12- 52nd) Sam Kurker (StL- '12- 56th) Boo Nieves (NYR- '12- 59th) Jimmy Vesey (Nash- '12- 66th) Chris Calnan (Chi-'12- 79th) Matt Grzelcyk (Bos- '12- 85th) Kevin Roy (Ana- '12- 97th) everyone knows (future Leaf?) Vesey, and to a lesser extent Jankowski, but the quiet one that I think could be a real score if signed would be Roy.
