thatcher demko with another gem, 6-1-0, 0.964 sv pctg, 0.86 gaa with 4 shut outs. looks like the off-season hip surgery went splendid. booyah biatches, nuck prop
I think Cornell is being, uhmm, a bit liberal with the names they're using, but that's o.k. because it's a worthy cause. Brian Campbell? He may have committed to Cornell, but I do not ever recall that he skated for them. They could also use Ron Francis, but he broke his commitment to jump directly to the Whalers.
Another shutout tonight, that's 5 S/O in last 6 games - #Canucks prospect Thatcher Demko is now 7-1-0 with 0.970 SV%, 0.75 GAA & 5 S/O. sell miller at the deadline, sell markstrom, sell canatta, sell 'em all.
Pretty sure there was, just didn't really spend much time there in the NCAA section. I got to shoot on an interactive video of bernier lol.
demko will be there soon, geez another shutout...i'm guessing the hip surgery went well. i don't think I've heard of an ncaa goalie doing so well, 3rd straight shutout. 6th shutout in the last 7 games. looking forward to seeing this young man in a sweater.
id temper my expectations if I'm a Canucks fan. Demko is good but his defenseman and scheme are what make his #s excellent. Cory Schneider was a better NCAA goalie than Demko. Schneider was the best NCAA goalie I've seen though.
Ken Dryden was the best collegiate goalie I've ever seen. Age does have its benefits. I think Thatcher will develop into a good one, and this year has to boost his confidence. But unless the wheels fall off Ryan then I think it'll be 2 - 3 years at the earliest before VAN is looking to him.
absolutely a couple years minimum. Im assuming he goes pro and mans the net in the AHL for a couple of seasons. The Canucks handled Schneider's development extremely well, I assume that Benning and co. will do the same w/ Demko. As I recall Schneider had an afoul first couple of months in the AHL before adjusting and getting himself right. Demko came in at 17 and finished his freshman year before getting drafted. I wrote something about him, on MNC somewhere I believe, before his freshman year. I met him on a recruiting trip to BC. Kind of a random encounter but he was w/ uncle Jerry and I bumped in to them. I came away thoroughly impressed w/ Demko as a person, had never even seen him play at that point. He came to BC along w/ his current (at the time) USNTDP goalie coach Mike Ayers, a local kid and ex teammate of mine. The hockey world is tiny.
