^^ i read a really good biography on Ruth. He wasn't really an orphan but if you were a bad kid, you got dropped off at an orphanage as was the case with Ruth. A Priest there taught him the game of baseball and even as young as 10 yrs old he was crushing baseballs. he started out as a left handed catcher of all things. very humble beginnings for one of the greatest in the sport.

 

Ruth was a good pitcher too.

 

yeah skinny i know. he was such a great hitter that he knew by pitching, his bat was not in the lineup as often as a everyday player. he told the red sox to play when even when he doesn't pitch. they didn't like that idea.

how was everyone's weekend ?? mine was good. went to my nephews for a little going away evening bf he heads off to penn state main campus. then to nj to see an old buddy of mine. went home and watched the end of the pga championship and got some cleaning and laundry done. yeah, im boring as all hell. at least im productive.
