staying with Denver for food (Dan k) and I hate to bring up everyone nemesis, Guy Fieri, but he has showcased some food stops in Denver and all looked very solid. I don't recall the names right now, but can find it.

Dan - counting or not counting Italian food, how is the food overall in Denver??

I was at my cousins place last week, she pulled out a photo of her great-grand-father in Pennsylvannia in 1885. It's a group photo of lumberjacks dressed in suits drinking beer from this strange looking 1800's beer bottle. I googled it up and the beer was called the country housewife.

speaking of Guy Fieri being fake. What about Dwayne Johnson ? He went from college football at the U to the WWE and was given the wrestling name of the "Rock." He started out slow in movies and is now a huge star, even though Baywatch was a total bomb. He's very personal but when you watch him like on Lip Sync Battle, I swear he does everything for the spotlight. How he acts with the camera is all for show. And his latest video of him in the gym yelling at some lightweight looked totally fake and the Rock being the Rock. I like the Rock. He seems like a good guy, but his "act" looks fake. A different fake from Guy Fieri, but the Rock is selling himself to be in movies and on tv, so it's all an act.

On one hand Denver is a major city, and all big cities have decent restaurants. In general, however, I'll stick with the word I used earlier to describe the culinary scene in the Mile High City - "uninspiring".

On the other hand, my wife lives here and she is a great cook. So, for me personally the food in Denver is great.

    A little closer.

good for you as not as everyone's wife is a good cook. it's that Irish in her. ;)

bummer for the locals and tourists. again guy fieri's tv show is highly edited to show the best of a place that has to offer. like skinny said "he's not going to spit it out and say 'that sucks!'"

around my old office building in center city, philly, they have built a ton of new places and top ranked places in the last 4 yrs since i left the city. that's the 1 thing i miss about working downtown is the food. and philly is making a comeback with sandwich spots too. not cheesesteaks mind you but other top ranked gourmet sandwich places in the city around city hall.

since we were talking about food and Dan is from the NY area and likes the Buffalo Sabres, i was wondering who has the best buffalo wings in Buffalo? The Anchor Bar is the originator but i know others try to knock off the Champ. The Yelp list is a list of places for good wings.

Once in a while, I don't mind wings breaded as some places have skinny skimpy small wings. i want a big meaty wing, so if you don't have it - make it breaded.

A place in South Philly has good wings. It was rated the #1 Sports Bar in North America 3 or 4 yrs ago. It's in a old grocery store that was rebuilt so it's huge. It's a chain now but you cannot change their #1 main staple - Crab Fries. And no crab meat is not on the fries. It's fries with Old Bay. The owner took a simple idea and is now a multi millionaire and these crab fries with a cup of cheese sells for $10 at a Philly sports event and has locations in the sports bars around the stadiums, his own restaurants and even at the damn airport. In some cases just a stand to sell the crab fries! Unreal.

just found this on facebook. it's funny. i grew up near all 5 spots and none were there when i was a kid. besides steve's prince of steaks - the rest are much newer. people rave about steve's. i think it's steak'um. i said 20 times - best bacon cheese steak is from a little cart with a lady named Maria on the cross streets of 16th and between Market and Chestnut Streets. Great food.
