this is coming from Dan who also said "Let me make this clear; you are wrong."

bwahahaha. this is why this thread and website are great bc you do have this banter with certain people and it's all good and positive.

now if Dan said that to igloo, omg there would be hell to pay and bitch after bitch posts about how mean or wrong Dan is and blah, blah, and blah! Nice to see skinny took it all in stride.

Speaking of Igloo, Dan, he quit this site. I've known him since CBS and he sent me a long email and it wasn't very good. He said a lot of things in it that i won't repeat and he was clearly very upset at a few people and many things on here. I went to another site that i hated, which i think he will hate as well.

How does it work there, do you have severance packages in case of layoffs? How about unemployment insurance? I don't think it's a good idea just to collect and remain inactive, it's always better to have a job than no job and collecting. In NFLD, they're famous for going to other parts of Canada and working for long enough to be eligible to collect. Then they go back home and hang out in the pubs all day.

^^sounds like my cunt bag of a fat cousin i no longer speak too. she and her tax paying avoiding Father are the Kings of running from the government and not paying taxes!

unemployment -- in some cases no. i do know bc of this restructure, an older women lost her job and she sued. she won her base salary for the year tax free and another disclosed sum of money for her trouble. it was also tax free. i have never collected, so i don't know how it works exactly and the laws behind it.

I don't want to belabor this too much, but I do want to clear the air on this:

I knew it could be interpreted as harsh, or even arrogant, as I typed it. However, I have come to know that skinny can take it, (and if you were offended please let me know, and I will apologize in advance). It is a rhetorical device to put a point in absolute terms, it gives no ambiguity about the writer's intent. In other words, it focuses.

Going further, skinny simply was incorrect with his understanding of what defines a recession. Which is another way of saying that it is not wrong to call something what it is.

I just prefer an unfettered message without the possibility of multiple interpretations. When something is what it is, that's what I'm going to state.

Newfies celebrate the 1949 annexation for this very reason.

those 2 are the cheapest low down dirty MF'ers i know. We would call him Flimflam Sam as a kid when he wasn't around as he fled like 4 countries and their tax laws.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of newfies have been in the toronto area for over 50 years and are hard working. A lot of them are used to seasonal work with some time off, like the fishermen and lobster trappers. A lot of the younger generation didn't want that life.

When they became a part of Canada they began to realize the nice part of the social benefits. A lot of them took advantage of the welfare, workers comp and unemployment insurance.

25% of irish in NFLD originate from Kilkenny.

Wow, that belongs in the Fun Facts board. I have four older sibs. born in Newfoundland; they're Americans because my Dad was in the AF at the time. Now we have another cool connection with the Newfies. (Although they seem like totters based on one of your posts.)

    Anyway, Go Kilkenny Cats!

Kilkenny's contribution to this emigration was 25%, followed by Wexford (at least 23%), Waterford (at least 20%) and Tipperary (at least 15%), with Cork adding a further 6%. Wexford was the county of origin in which the Irish language was least spoken.

Yeah, Wexford is too close to the Pale. That's the region around Dublin that fucking Brits first stole from Mother Ireland. The Brits were content to stay within the Pale* for several centuries. (* The expression "beyond the pale" derives from the notion that those pussy Brits didn't want to wander past this area.)

The Brit bastards tried to beat the Irish by squashing their culture, and that often started with the language. That's why Wexford had the lowest number of Irish speakers (that's the name of the language, not Gaelic).

BTW, we can still hear native Irish speakers at our place in the west of Ireland.

    Oh, fuck the Brits!

I wonder if the ducks are changing their mind about exposing silfverberg.

The Ducks are in a quandary. The problem is they're obligated to protect 3 F's due to NMC's. And they have way too many attractive D to go the 8-1 protection route. Their only way out is to swing a trade with one of their D, which only half the league needs more of.
