it was cold and rainy. the building from the outside doesn't look like a hockey arena and we almost passed it and i didn't even know it was the Joe until i saw the sign. the rows are TIGHT. if people need to pass you, even if you stand up, it's tight. since there are no cup holders, it was tough to put a soda down and then grab it. the seats are small or im just too chubby of a fat bastard to sit in them. still awesome.

i have pix and a video or the inside of the arena and it's backed up on my home pc already!! I have a shoebox since childhood of every tix stub of every game i ever went too in my life. i was so happy to put my ticket from the Joe in the box!!!

however, the building was cool. just breathed old-time hockey. not like the old boston garden or the montreal forum but like a old OHL or CHL arena like from the movie Youngblood. just really cool and i was so happy to go. fans were awesome. not obnoxious and drunk like Flyers fans are. Just passionate! Not making the playoffs? Who cares! Still cheering and rowdy!

Dan K was fantastic. He proudly wore his mustard Sabres jersey and cap and Bills jacket. He had a lot of good stories and information. I'm sure his ears were bleeding after listening to me yap, yap, yap for the car ride there, back and at the game. Hey, I'm a yapper! His generosity with the tickets and hotel was something I will never forget. He's a true gentlemen and it was a real pleasure to meet him in person. I had so much fun meeting him and talking to him. To be able to say me, a fan from Philly, was able to see the Joe in it's last year and 3rd to last game ever is something I'll never forget and it's all thanks to Dan!

I think the Leafs are at the Joe on Saturday; the penultimate game at this venerable barn. It's cramped and dingy, but it just oozes hockey ambiance.

i actually thought the Joe was where Gordie Howe, Abel, Sawchuck and Lindsey played too, but that was at Olympia. Still from 1979-2017, it saw 5 Cup Finals and 4 Cup wins! Most franchises dream of that kind of success. I took a picture of all their Cup Banners and sent it to my siblings who are Flyers fans. I said "the 1 thing the Flyers don't have- A LOT OF CUPS!" haha.

 

I meant, I still remember the olympia. Last month after going to a mass for my uncle we all gathered at my grandmothers house for one last time before the house got put on the market. I was telling all my cousins when we were in the family room that when I was 7, the leafs road games weren't on tv. I used to lay down on the carpet in there with my ear to my uncles radio listening to the leafs and wings at the O.

i am normal. i am not playing these games of vanishing for 3 weeks and not communicating with me.

i don't believe her for a second. she's got 4 kids and her ex is an issue so either the ex was coming back in her life and she needed time or she was out banging every tom, dick and harry in the neighborhood. either way im not happy with not hearing from someone i saw frequently for a month for 3 weeks. we're adults here, not grade schoolers and she stole my lunch money bullshit.

the thing is i really liked her and where we were going from a relationship standpoint until she pulled a Houdini act on me.

i can't win. im a nice guy who has his life together. i don't drink or smoke. I have a solid career/job, no ex-wives or kids, i can cook, im very neat, tidy, can do laundry, can take out the trash etc. i know people still living in their parents basements for fuck's sake and have girlfriends or wives. i know people 10x worse off than me and have a house and are married. i can't win!

 

Don't be so hard yourself, you have to look to better places for a serious gal. I've never tried this, but I've heard success stories. If you dedicate some time to community service, charities and church groups, you'll find better quality women..
I can relate to you in that we come from that bar drinking background where the women are loose with shallow moral grounds, not that we're any better lol.
