Trump lies so much that it's hard to keep track of what he is saying as truth or fiction...

i think his downfall will be his many tall tales and his double backing on his own word.

You think he might be a little too thin skinned to lead a nation? I think he'll soon realize he was better off as king of the hill at the top of trump towers.

yeah i mean he got all pissed at Alec BAldwin's SNL skit of him. I mean, some were too far, but as the President of the United States - he needs a Teflon coat now!

The tweets are just a sleight of hand to get everyone off the real issues, like the $25M settlement, the conflicts of interest. Everytime there's heat on him, like his tax returns he'll fabricate some silly controversey to get everybody's eye off the ball. He's like a con man magician, don't be fooled. The only way he'll get jobs back are huge tax cuts for the companies, no regulations and tonnes of worker abuse with no overtime pay and little or no benefits. Remember, he wants to make it worth it for these companies to come back from china. Steve jobs already said before he died that apple would never come back because all the parts are made in china.
The funny thing is, the only way to make his master plan work would be by taking advantage of illegal immigration. You think these lazy fks that are unemployed now are gonna put up with all the abuse a worker in china does? This guys going to mess things up so much it's not funny.

skinny, I'd tap the brakes on being so declarative with the proclamations about how badly Trump will fuck things up.

The sooner people recognize that there's a huge difference between what a candidate says in order to get elected and what a President actually does the better. He has already swung widely away from some his campaign rhetoric.

A President can make a huge difference with his/her policy decisions, and also for being able to galvanize the nation to go in a particular direction. I expect his policies will help the U.S. economy - they cannot be worse that Obsma's abysmal record. Otherwise, all the presumptive talk of how bad he'll be is very counterproductive. It could sabotage any hope that he may achieve positive diplomatic results.

I am not a Trump fan. I did not vote for him. From limited personal experience I deem him a first-class asshole. But things changed, and he's now the President-elect and he deserves some respect on virtue of his title. He also deserves a chance to succeed. That would be in the entire world's best interest.

My only point, everybody know's that to keep big business around you have to keep them happy. If you cut corporate taxes, you have to get it from somewhere, and that's the middle class. You could set things up where companies could take advantage of employees by making legislation that favours the company over the employees. He could pass legislation that could ignore any consideration toward the environment. So, he could improve things, but not for the majority, the 1% will do real good, like the wall street bankers and big business. I don't think that he'll make things better for the middle class, just my take. When I say he'll screw things up, I don't mean the country will fall apart, just saying that people's quality of life won't get better.

Your argument would be valid if business were a zero-sum proposition. It is not. Therefore, the trade offs you describe are not automatic.

As for jobs, I hope (and expect) that Trump will follow Germany's approach rather than the weak policies promulgated by others. Job creation does not have to be a return to the same jobs as we once had. It is possible for them to be better jobs - or at least, more appropriate for our times.

The USA is currently between 20-25% of the entire global economy. If in 25 years, that has been reduced to 15%, but the global pie is 100% bigger* then the relative size will not matter. Absolute size is more important than relative size. (* BTW, a doubling in the world economy over the next 25 years is an exceptionally conservative projection.) I'm not even going to get into discussing the great amount of data that support massive growth prospects. I do not think today's forecasts of doom will prove any more insightful than Mslthus in 1800.

I've lived awhile. There has been a steady litany of angst over the hell-bent direction of the country. The fact that these concerns were, in full measure, unwarranted suggests to me that our current angst is another overreaction.

    Thanks, skinny.

Now, for posterity, let me declare. I think you're wrong.

I can only hope that everyone prefers my stance. Meanwhile, we'll have to wait about 25 years before we know who has been more prescient.

i don't watch the news. didn't know anything about it. very sad.

got scolded at by my nephew who is a top auto mechanic at a Porsche dealership. I said by 2021 the Ford Fusion, the same car i have now, will be one of the first in the market to have a self driving car. keep in mind the first self driving car fatality was this year bc the car's sensors got blinded by the sun and it failed to break and rammed right into a 18 wheeler that cut him off. i took the stance that i rather be at the controls then self driving. my nephew scoffed at me and bashed me. he said bc i don't like to drive, why wouldn't i want a self driving car?

first off, i don't dislike to drive. i drive all the time but if u ask me to drive to seattle right now, i won't like it. i moved 2 miles from work to save on gas and have a less commute time. to me that's smart, not dumb. i simply don't trust technology in 5 yrs to have a trustworthy self driving car. now if the entire planet had them is fine. not everyone will have them or afford them. i rather trust human error than a computer. sorry. thankfully my brother in law jumped into the conversation and brought up numerous examples of car scenarios that could be tricky for a computer and a car. My nephew tried to defend all of them but made himself more open to bad cases for self driving cars.

now my nephew is on my shit list and my free flowing money river to his kid's college tuition is going to take a severe hit. they set up this college fund to pay for classes at today's prices and not when the kid is 18 in 16 yrs. i've been funded that fund for 2 yrs now. he hardly ever says anything to me in appreciation or thanks and after this latest stunt, he can fund it himself. im not the bank of America and i have other things to spend on them my great Nephew. both he and his wife make 6 figures each. they can afford it.

I know this sounds like im punishing a 2 yr old. im punishing my nephew and his bitch wife. neither appreciate all the things my entire family has given them. i bought $100 of summer clothes for their kid. i got 1 text back: THANKS. Not even my name in it. Is it that hard to appreciate me? I guess it is. oh well. back to my car for me.
