I’ve eaten chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers (from a Greek deli). Never eaten a rat... except tree rats (squirrels). Appalachian delicacy. Shot my first squirrel when I was 8, first rabbit at 9. My ex-wife spent her first 9 yrs in Seoul and she told me a story of she and her friends bickering over honey roasted grub-type worms. She said they were sweet and crispy. This was back in the 70s, when she was a kid.

Sounds like west virginia, favourite part of my drive to florida. I had my window rolled down with the hillbilly music blasting. I stopped at a gas station and bought a baloney sandwich, that was nasty.

The appalachian mountains were really cool, the food, not so much. People were staring at me like I was from another planet lol.

The Scottish/Irish/English, seeing similar terrain (mountains of the 4K feet variety) mostly settled in the Appys. They brought their distinct cuisine standards with them to the region. Those fuckers eat the entire animal if possible. Remember, haggis is sheep innards. Also, if it has legs or crawls some other way, it’s probably edible.

I can't really judge their cuisine from an expired baloney sandwich at one of the local service stations. I'm sure if I hooked up with bobbi-sue and her family had me over for dinner, I probably wouldn't complain. I like rabbit stew, I think that's one of their dishes.

There was a story I read from the 60s about a scottish guitarist. He was in Virginia on tour with his band and he was jamming with some hillbilly. They ended up playing a couple of the same riffs and even a couple of the same folk songs. They looked at each other at the same time and said, "where did you learn that?"
It turns out the scotts brought their music over a couple of centuries before and passed it down the generations.

I went to the cemetery where my uncles have been since the 70s. I went to visit my house where I grew up as a kid (sleepy as hell hood now). Went to visit my grandmothers house that we sold last year after my uncle passed away.

I went to oakville, crazy ride, that's far if you see on google from spadina in toronto.
I went on these nice trails that follow the humber river. I passed by this spot where there was a shooting a half hour later.

The last time I rode my bike in my old neighborhood was 1981, I even had a paper route where I delivered them on my bike.
That was my first time back riding there in 37 years, you get some flashbacks, real cool.
