This stuff was decades in the making. It's going to get alot worse in many more cities before it's taken seriously imo. Canada might want to start building that wall.

I remember the rodney king LA riots in the early 90's, that was pretty vicious. BLM blocked the busiest intersection in the city just this morning for half an hour, in protest for an an incident in ottawa.

I was in a bar one time in cincinnati waiting for a greyhound to take me to atlanta. I was talking to a few there that were warning me where not venture out to.

It was 1994 and I was sitting on the boardwalk in hollywood beach south florida. It was around midnight in an affluent area of jewish/italian/french-canadian demographic. A black kid is walking and a cruiser comes up behind him and stops. An officer gets out and puts the kid in the cruiser and drives off.
The next night I'm walking and get stopped by the cops and get asked for my ID and they ask what I'm doing up this late. I told them my ID is in my room and I'm just going for a walk, and I'm a canadian. He said that there's some fire trucks and vehicles that just got vandalized. He then just let me go and I kept walking.

damn that's a long as ride. how many hours was that?

yeah cincy seems like a rough town. ive been to atlanta and liked it alot except for heat and slowness of people. people don't seem to be in a fast pace mode to help anyone. very laid back.

    This was my intinerary

Thurs night left 11pm from toronto
Arrived in detroit 6 am after a 1 hr wait at the border.
Left detroit at 9 am to cincy.
    Arrived in cincy at 2pm
    6 hr layover
Left cincy at 8 pm on the way to Atlanta.
Arrived in Atlanta 6am on sunday morning(not the following morning).
Left Atlanta at 8 am on way to ft.lauderdale.
    Arrive in Ft.Lauderdale at 9pm.

Keep in my mind, the bus would stop at almost every town and also food breaks were almost 1hr long. I was on my way to a boat cruise and it was spring break, all the flights were either sold out or 4 times the amount.

Also when I got to ft.lauderdale all the hotels were booked and I slept in the bus station like a homeless person.

Thinking back now, I can't remember if I was told to go back to my hotel, same thing happened in italy and even up the street from where I used to live.

fuck that. that's way too long. i would've waited till summer-time. haha

i went to college in Chicago but was from Philly so i would have to fly home every winter and summer. one winter, i couldn't afford airfare and took the Amtrak home. i thought it was some express or something. nope. 23 hrs 1 way. it stopped at EVERY FUCKING TOWN FROM CHICAGO TO PHILLY. I didn't know, so after the 3rd stop in Indiana, I knew i was screwed. It even stopped at my sister's little town outside of Lancaster, Pa.. It stopped for 5 min. This was bf laptops and I-Pods, so I had a pack of batteries and my Sony CD-Walkman on me. I had $10 so enough for 1 soda and sandwich. It was torture. I slept in my seat and the next morning, changed clothes and brushed my teeth in the bathroom. No sleeping car. Couldn't afford it. People were up all night and kids running up and down the aisle. i hated it. My brother in law picked me up at 30th street and saw me looking ragged and said "what's wrong with you?" I said "i just spent 23 hrs on a fucking train with no sleep and barely any food!" he said "oh, sorry." "lets go home!"

my brother asked - why didn't i bring any beer on the train? i didn't have any money! i was a poor college student and the minimum wage was $4.10 an hour in 1992!

the ride back, i sat next to some kid who was a Golden Gloves boxing champ and i barely recall the ride back. it was still 23 hrs but i have little recollection from it.

    never again!

last year - i headed out to pitt to see ND-Pitt. The airfare prices for a 25 min flight were insane, ($300+) so i took the Amtrak for $100 round-trip!!. It was 6.5 hrs, which is not bad as the car ride is 5.5-6. this time, i had a cooler full of beer and sandwiches and water! haha. after harrisburg, i was in the train car alone for 3 hrs. no one sat in the entire car but me. i took a nap and then ate and drank. the train car ahead of mine was full of people partying and drinking. it was mayhem. im glad i had an empty car. kind of cool.

they know better than messing with you. they don't want an international incident on their hands. haha

When I saw that it would take over 40 hrs, I thought it would be easy. Was I ever wrong, try sleepng on that bus at 3 in the morning. One guy was fighting with his gf on his phone at 5 am and he hung up on her. She called him over 10 times in a row and he wouldn't pick up, and the moron didn't turn the ring volume down. I lost it and yelled for him to shut it off. Thinking about it now, you don't know who's getting on that bus and their background. They could've spent half their life in prison and would think nothing of stabbing you.
I know for a fact that there's some pretty major drug deals that go on in these greyhound bus stations. They don't check your bags and many will meet in some town or city and one guy will put money in one locker and the other guy will put drugs in another. They'll exchange keys and the deals done, back on the bus home.

Lay off the maple leaf, the US needs our backbacon and maple syrup.

i think Greyhound and Amtrak have dogs now. I know Philly does smelling bags for drugs. After 9/11 the crackdown was enforced.

common courtesy people! come on. but yes, one could be a postal nut with no sense of common decency with a short fuse and you're screwed or dead.

never a fan of Canadian Bacon. I liked US bacon etc. I heard for top restaurants, the best bacon to have is wild boar bacon...

It's expensive but awesome. saw it on tv at a restaurant in San Diego. The guy was shredding it and mixing it with his ground beef for burgers and then cooking it all together as 1 burger. people went bonkers over it.

I went on this trip in 2007, there was nothing.

Italian bacon on the bbq is the best for me, and itlalians don't even acknowledge it. They have cookies and coffee at bk.

I was a couple of hours away from the finish line and there were people that just got on and were so chipper. I just turned to them and told them that this would be my definition of hell, just continually repeating this trip for eternity. On my way back I stopped in NY for a day and had the best sleep of my life.
