New Jersey to Nova Scotia. Gotta remember that nothing outside America exists to American media unless it's Cuban mountains to break up a hurricane.

met someone who turned around and didn't wanna date me bc i don't drink anymore. her ex-husband was a bad drunk and went back to it after years of sobriety, so she doesn't wanna deal with that again. thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt. wow.

I have a baseball lying around from 1983 given to me by Dave Winfield during a double header between the jays and yankees. I was talking to this lady yesterday, who's a baseball fanatic and she says it's worth about $4k. I don't think so, there's no autograph on it, I don't want to sell it.
It came in handy when I had tennis elbow, there was a massage technique where you put the ball on a wall and roll it on your shoulders and back. That came in handy, lol.

as a sports card and memorabilia collector who sold his collection twice for $3500 and $20000 - that ball isn't worth $4 bucks! used mlb baseballs are on eBay for under $15 bucks. that lady is on something. the entire 1983 team signed ball is maybe worth $4 k, maybe in pristine condition. a regular ball that wasn't a famous HR ball isn't worth jackshit.

I never thought it was worth anything, I've never looked at it from that angle. All I know is that it helped me with my elbow.

^^^ then so be it. trying to help you out since i have 35+ years of collecting, selling and speaking about the industry and hobby.

Never been into memrobillia, honestly, if I had anything valuable, I think I'd rather be a proud owner than cash out.

^^i was for a long time and treasured talking about what i had and owned. i had a spreadsheet of every card i had etc. money is money and the hobby is in massive decline, so i sold it all! don't own a single card anymore. for 30+ yrs it was a big part of my life and i loved every minute of it. now cards worth x and worth half it now or even less than half. market is toast.

I guess that's a little different, you just got bored with it and cut ties.

I have a jazz fender bass that's about 40 years old, I hardly play it anymore. I think it's worth about $3k, I wouldn't want to sell it.

not bored. i knew the market was going under and bf my stuff lost more value, i got out to get as much money as i could bf it lost more. i paid off my credit cards and pocketed $11k for myself.

Good move, I went to a weekend event where all the collectors had their booths set up. The only one that made money were the ones renting out space. Nobody there looked successful, they all looked like 50 year olds still living in their parents basement.

yeah bc they all bought stuff and now can't get rid of it unless they mark it down for cheap. no one wants a signed ball or bat etc. kids are outside playing sports or hooked on video games. collecting is a lost art and hobby most young kids know nothing about.

Today there is more of a throwaway culture than in previous times. Everything is digitized. I'm guilty as well. I moved music to CDs then to MP3, etc... Videos, same, now they're out in the clouds. Images? History? Stats? Google it. This is one of the primary reasons that philosophers DeLeuze and Guattari say that nothing beats experience. News about an event is automatically second-hand and will naturally be less impactful, memorable, etc. than the experience itself. The world seems to be evolving that way naturally (due to current technology and the conveniences it affords us).

^^yep libraries and even newspapers are becoming a thing of the past. can research Teddy Roosevelt on Google, I don't need to get a book about him. Even novels - get a Kindle. Why waste paper?
